Akame is a beautiful young woman with long black hair and piercing red eyes.

While serving the Empire, she wore a white-based outfit, but as a member of Night Raid, she is almost always seen in her signature black, sleeveless uniform.

On the surface, Akame is stoic, expressionless, and taciturn, making her seem difficult to approach.

This detached demeanor is just a front; she is deeply compassionate and cares immensely for her comrades.

This is shown when she secretly worried about the rookie Tatsumi or broke down in tears after Sheele's death.

She possesses a wild, untamed side and is a voracious eater with a particular love for meat.

Akame can be a bit dense and lacks a sense of delicacy at times.

She once mistook Tatsumi's open fly for a fashion statement and casually stripped him to his underwear to check for injuries without a second thought.

As a child, Akame and her younger sister Kurome were sold to the Empire and forced into a brutal training program to become assassins.

She excelled and was placed in an elite assassination unit, carrying out missions as ordered.

Through her missions, she gradually became aware of the Empire's deep-seated corruption and darkness.

Eventually, she was swayed by her target, Najenda, to defect and join the Revolutionary Army.

Akame pleaded with Kurome to leave with her, but her sister refused, forcing the two to part ways on opposing sides.

Due to her lifelong training as an assassin, Akame is an exceptionally powerful fighter.

She boasts overwhelming speed and delivers strikes with a weight that defies her slender appearance.

Her skills in hand-to-hand combat and tactical judgment are also top-notch.

When once disarmed, she instantly assessed the situation and defeated a group of modified soldiers with her bare hands.

Combined with the power of her Teigu, Murasame, she is considered Night Raid's ultimate trump card.

During her time in the Empire's assassination unit, she wielded the Shingu "Kiriichimonji."

One-Cut Killer: Murasame

A katana-style Teigu that carries a deadly poison.

Any wound inflicted by its blade, even a minor scratch, unleashes a curse that swiftly stops the victim's heart, ensuring death.

This power makes it dangerous even for the wielder, who must exercise extreme caution during maintenance.

While it can kill any living being with a heart, it is ineffective against animated corpses, opponents in full armor, or machines that prevent the blade from making direct contact.

Trump Card: Ennoodzuno

This secret technique can only be used when Murasame fully recognizes its wielder as its master.

Akame unlocked it after a history of killing friends, steeling her resolve to kill her sister, and finally killing Tatsumi at his own request.

Activating it causes cursed markings to appear on her body, dramatically boosting her physical abilities for a short period.

After use, faint markings and immense pain remain as a side effect.

Akame's most profound and tragic relationship is with her younger sister, Kurome.

She loves Kurome deeply and believes that the only way to save her is to kill her.

Despite this resolve, the thought of fighting her sister causes Akame immense emotional pain.

Kurome, in turn, wishes to kill Akame and reanimate her as a corpse doll so they can be together forever, highlighting the twisted darkness of their bond.

Akame's signature catchphrase is "Eliminate."

She is a huge glutton who loves meat so much that when asked about her ideal type in men, she inexplicably answers with "meat."

Her hobby is making papercraft ships, a skill she learned from a man named Green during her time in the Empire.

She dreams of one day building a real ship and setting sail with her friends after the war ends.

"Eliminate."

"The pain of losing a precious comrade is not something you ever get used to."

"Because I love her the most... I want to save (kill) her quickly."

Main Story

As a member of Night Raid, Akame serves as an elite assassin and the interim leader in Najenda's absence.

Her story is defined by her immense skill, her quiet care for her comrades, and her painful conflict with her sister, Kurome.

In the final battle, she took drugs to enhance her physical abilities in preparation to face Esdeath.

She granted Tatsumi's final wish by killing him after he transformed into a dragon, an act that caused Murasame to recognize her as its true master.

This unlocked her Trump Card, "Ennoodzuno," which she used to defeat Esdeath in a grueling duel.

She survived but was left with the painful markings of Murasame's curse on her body.

Akame ga Kill! Zero

This prequel series depicts Akame's time serving the Empire.

She was more emotionally expressive and wore a white uniform instead of her familiar black one.

She passed the assassin selection exam ranked 7th while protecting Kurome, earning a spot in Gozuki's elite squad.

Though she called Gozuki "Father," she was never as fanatically loyal as her peers, and a series of events led her to question the Empire's justice.

Anime vs. Manga Ending

In the manga, after the new nation is established, Akame journeys to the east alone.

She seeks a cure for her curse and a way to turn Tatsumi back into a human, and it is revealed she can no longer die of natural causes.

In the anime, after defeating Esdeath, Akame survives the revolution.

She vows to live on, carrying the weight of the revolution's sins and the memories of her fallen friends, and sets off on a journey by herself.
