Sheele is a kind-hearted and motherly member of the assassin group Night Raid, but her gentle, airheaded demeanor conceals a shockingly calm and ruthless killer. Her catchphrase is "I'm sorry," which she says for everything from her daily clumsiness to the lives she takes.
Character Data
CV: Mamiko Noto
Age: Early 20s
Height: 160 cm
Measurements: 86-55-88
Blood Type: AB
Hobbies: Spending time with people she's close to
Teigu: Cutter of Creation: Extase
Sheele is a woman with long, straight purple hair and wears glasses.
She is typically seen wearing a sleeveless, form-fitting cheongsam.
She has a very warm, gentle, and somewhat ditsy personality.
She is extremely forgetful and a natural airhead, making her terribly clumsy with any kind of chore. This leads to her frequently apologizing with her catchphrase, "I'm sorry."
Despite her gentle nature, Sheele possesses a profound maternal instinct, comforting Tatsumi when he cried over the death of his childhood friends.
Akame herself notes that while Sheele can be a bit absent-minded, she is "kinder than anyone." However, she can also make chillingly violent statements with a perfectly straight face.
In combat, her personality flips entirely; she becomes incredibly cold-blooded and shows no hesitation in killing.
The author has described her as a "serial killer," yet she maintains a humble side, bowing her head and apologizing even to the villains she eliminates.
Sheele grew up in the downtown district of the Capital, where she was constantly teased for being a klutz who couldn't do anything right.
The people around her often joked that she "had a screw loose."
Her life changed when her friend was about to be murdered by a violent ex-boyfriend. Sheele calmly killed the man to save her friend.
Later, the man's friends sought revenge and murdered Sheele's parents. When they came for her, she killed them all with the same unnerving composure.
Through this, Sheele realized that her "loose screw" made her uniquely suited for something, as her mind felt surprisingly clear during these violent acts.
She began working as a lone assassin cleaning up the Capital's criminals before being scouted and recruited into Night Raid.
Cutter of Creation: Extase
This Teigu takes the form of a giant pair of scissors, curiously engraved with a panda relief.
It boasts incredible hardness and a sharpness that can slice through anything in the world.
Its blade can even cut through the seemingly impenetrable armor of Incursio, though doing so can cause feedback damage to the user.
The weapon is versatile; it can be used for stabbing or thrusting without opening the blades, and its size and durability allow it to be used as a shield.
However, to use its full cutting power, it must be used as scissors, which can be unwieldy due to its immense size.
Trump Card: Luminous Shimmer
Extase's ultimate ability is to emit a powerful, blinding flash of light from its blades.
While it may seem simple, it's highly effective for creating an opening by dazzling an opponent.
It is especially potent for Night Raid, as their operations are primarily conducted at night, making the sudden flash in the darkness overwhelming.
Sheele was a very caring comrade within Night Raid.
She shared a particularly close, motherly bond with Tatsumi, comforting him after the tragic loss of his friends and laying flowers on their graves daily.
She was partnered with Mine on missions. Sheele doted on the sharp-tongued Mine, who, despite her tsundere attitude, clearly cared for Sheele in return.
Their relationship was fairly balanced, as Mine often had to scold Sheele for her airheaded mistakes, but they were deeply fond of each other.
Life in Night Raid
As a member of Night Raid, Sheele's extreme clumsiness meant she wasn't assigned any specific chores around the hideout.
Because of this, she was often seen quietly reading books, though her choice of reading material was often as eccentric as she was.
She was the first to offer true comfort to Tatsumi after he discovered his friends had been tortured to death, holding him as he wept.
The Final Mission
On the way back from a mission with Mine, they were ambushed by Seryu Ubiquitous of the Imperial Guard, who was determined to bring "justice" to Night Raid.
A fierce battle ensued. While Mine distracted Seryu's biological Teigu, Koro, Sheele targeted Seryu directly.
Sheele managed to sever both of Seryu's arms and pushed her into a corner.
A Heroic Sacrifice
Just as victory seemed near, Seryu activated a hidden function in Koro, putting Mine in mortal danger.
Sheele reacted instantly to save Mine, but this created a momentary opening that Seryu exploited, shooting Sheele with a hidden gun in her mouth.
Wounded, Sheele was then viciously mauled by Koro, who bit her torso in half.
Last Words and Legacy
With the last of her strength, Sheele used Extase's trump card to create a blinding flash, allowing Mine to escape.
As she was consumed by Koro, she reminisced about her happy days with Night Raid.
Her final words, "I'm sorry," were a heartfelt apology to Tatsumi for no longer being able to hold him.
Sheele's horrific death left deep scars on her comrades, having a particularly profound impact on Tatsumi and Mine.
As the first major hero to be killed off, her gruesome end served as a stark notice to readers of the series' brutal direction and marked the true beginning of the story's main conflict.
In the comedic shorts, *Akame ga Kill! Theater*, it's revealed that Sheele has spare pairs of glasses.
However, she never uses them because they apparently have a huge impact on her character, turning her into personalities from different anime.
"I'm sorry."
This is Sheele's constant catchphrase, used for everything from fumbling a task to taking a life. It represents both her gentle, apologetic nature and the sorrow she feels for her actions as a killer.
