Tapion is a legendary hero from the Dragon Ball Z movie, “Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon.” He is known for sealing away a dangerous monster called Hirudegarn over a thousand years ago. Tapion keeps to himself because of his heavy responsibilities, but slowly bonds with Trunks. Eventually, he passes his sword to Trunks, which some fans believe is the same sword future Trunks uses. Tapion's look is similar to Kibito Kai, and his design has inspired comparisons with the main character from Chrono Trigger. He has appeared as a playable character in several video games, helping the heroes in tough battles.
Tapion looks almost exactly like Kibito Kai, but with different colors.
He has a mohawk hairstyle and wears a cape and special clothes that also look like the hero from the game Chrono Trigger.
He carries a sword, called the Hero’s Sword, on his back.
Tapion is quiet at first and tries to stay away from people because he carries a big burden.
But after meeting Trunks, he opens up and becomes friendly, showing a caring and brave side.
He is selfless and willing to make huge sacrifices to protect others.
Long ago, Tapion lived on Planet Konats in the South Galaxy.
A dangerous monster called Hirudegarn attacked his planet.
To stop the monster, Tapion sealed Hirudegarn’s upper half inside himself, and his younger brother, Minotia, sealed the lower half in himself.
They locked themselves away in magical music boxes, which were sent to different galaxies.
This was done so the monster could never return.
Tapion’s Release and Arrival on Earth
A wizard named Hoi wants Hirudegarn to come back, so he uses the Dragon Balls on Earth to open the seal.
Tapion is freed from his music box and comes to modern Earth.
At first, Tapion stays away from everyone.
But Trunks really likes Tapion and tries to be his friend.
Opening Up to Trunks
Slowly, Tapion warms up to Trunks and even smiles again.
He feels happy but is still afraid of the monster inside him.
The Awakening of Hirudegarn
One day, the upper half of Hirudegarn, sealed inside Tapion, starts to wake up.
This puts everyone in danger.
Tapion struggles to control the monster and keep it from escaping.
The Hero’s Sword
At the end, Tapion gives his Hero’s Sword to Trunks.
This is a very special moment and shows how much Tapion trusts Trunks.
Some fans think this is the same sword future Trunks uses to defeat Freeza, but in the real story, Trunks never meets Tapion in his timeline, and the Trunks who gets the sword rarely uses it.
Tapion is skilled with his sword and has the power to seal monsters.
He plays the ocarina, which helps keep Hirudegarn under control.
Tapion forms a strong bond with Trunks, who looks up to him as a hero.
He also cares deeply for his younger brother, Minotia.
Tapion’s design is based on Kibito Kai and the main character from Chrono Trigger, because both were created by Akira Toriyama.
His mohawk and clothes often remind fans of Chrono.
He has appeared as a playable character in video games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
In Video Games
In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Tapion shows up to help Trunks and others fight Zamasu and Goku Black.
He tries to seal Zamasu inside his body and sometimes succeeds, depending on the player’s choices.
He also appears in Super Dragon Ball Heroes to join special tournaments and face off against Trunks: Xeno.
