Vegeta is a main character from the Dragon Ball manga and anime series. He is the proud prince of the Saiyan race, known for his intense rivalry with Kakarot (Goku). Vegeta starts out as a villain but slowly changes, showing a more caring side toward his family and the planet Earth. He is famous for his pride, determination, and powerful fighting skills. Over time, Vegeta faces many strong enemies, grows stronger with new transformations, and even becomes a hero. His story covers his battles, training, relationships with friends and family, and how he always aims to become stronger, often seeing Goku as his main competitor.
Vegeta is a short, muscular man with spiky black hair that stands upright.
He has sharp eyes and a serious look.
When he first appears, he wears battle armor with long shoulder pads.
After fighting Rikuum on Namek, Vegeta switches to a style of armor that covers just his chest.
Sometimes, especially in later stories, he fights without the protective gear.
He is 164 cm tall and weighs 56 kg.
Vegeta is very proud of being a Saiyan prince.
He loves training and getting stronger more than anything else.
He doesn’t like taking orders, and he almost never apologizes, even when he is wrong.
At first, Vegeta is selfish and prefers to fight alone, but as time passes, he gets better at working with others.
He has a very big appetite, like most Saiyans, and doesn’t have any food he hates.
Vegeta is also scared or grossed out by “wiggly things.”
He can be stubborn, but deep down, he cares about his family and even helps his friends when it really matters.
Vegeta’s real name is Vegeta IV.
He is called "Vegeta" like his father, King Vegeta.
He was born in Age 732 as the son of King Vegeta and the heir to Planet Vegeta.
The planet is named after his family.
From the beginning, he was a strong fighter with high battle power.
After Planet Vegeta is destroyed and most of the Saiyan race is wiped out, Vegeta becomes one of the last survivors.
He once worked under Freeza, but he hated taking orders and was looking for a way to gain power for himself.
He comes to Earth hoping to find the Dragon Balls and gain immortality.

With Bulma and Family
After moving to Earth, Vegeta gradually becomes close to Bulma.
Together, they have a son, Trunks, and later a daughter, Bra.
While he used to be cold and distant, Vegeta grows more caring over time.
He becomes a loving, if a bit strict, father and cares a lot about his family.
He even skips training to be by Bulma’s side when Bra is about to be born.
It’s noted in Dragon Ball DAIMA that he likes taking baths with Bulma and doesn't want to miss out, even in the middle of a fight!
With Goku (Kakarot)
Goku is Vegeta’s biggest rival.
Vegeta is always trying to surpass him.
At first, he looks down on Goku as a "lower-class Saiyan."
Over time, however, he comes to respect Goku’s fighting spirit and strength, even admitting at one point, “You are No. 1.”
They are friendly rivals, and sometimes, when it really matters, they fight side by side or even fuse together.
With Gohan
At first, Vegeta calls Gohan “Goku’s brat” and doesn’t care much about him.
After fighting together on Namek and during the Cell Saga, he comes to respect Gohan’s power.
When Gohan is hurt protecting him, Vegeta even says sorry, which is rare for him.
He sometimes trains Gohan or supports him in battle.
With Others
Vegeta doesn't make close friends easily, but he slowly comes to respect warriors like Piccolo, Kuririn, and even Tien.
He usually calls people by their names only if he respects them.
He can be very polite and respectful to people much stronger than him, like Freeza or Beerus, to protect his family and friends.
Arrival as a Villain
Vegeta begins as an enemy, working with Nappa to invade planets.
He arrives on Earth looking for the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality.
In his first appearance, he sits on the corpse of an alien, eating its arm—showing how ruthless he is at first.
Teaming Up on Namek
After being forced to flee Earth, Vegeta heads to Namek for the Dragon Balls.
Freeza learns about his plans and races to Namek first.
Vegeta ends up in a tense alliance with Goku, Kuririn, and Gohan to survive and challenge Freeza.
He starts to let go of some of his evil ways, even agreeing not to hurt his former enemies.
Cell Saga Growth
On Earth, Vegeta lives at Capsule Corporation, trains hard, and struggles to surpass Goku.
He becomes a Super Saiyan after feeling angry at himself.
He lets Cell become perfect out of pride and is beaten badly.
After this, he starts to value others, especially his son Trunks.
Redemption in the Buu Saga
During the Majin Buu Saga, Vegeta lets himself be controlled by Babidi to unlock more power—but only to force a real fight with Goku.
He fights Goku to a standstill, but stops to deal with Majin Buu.
He sacrifices himself in an attempt to save his family and the earth.
Vegeta later comes back, teams up with Goku, and together they defeat Buu.
He finally calls Goku “Number One” and truly changes for the better.
Later Life & Dragon Ball GT
In Dragon Ball GT, Vegeta switches to a tough “bad dad” appearance with a short jacket and sometimes a beard.
He gets less mean, becomes more of a family man, but always trains to get better.
He and Goku fuse or fight together to protect the universe.
Dragon Ball Super Era
Vegeta continues training hard and becomes even stronger, reaching god powers.
He helps fight enemies like Beerus, Golden Freeza, Goku Black, and Jiren the Gray.
He shows more heroic traits, fighting for his family and friends, not just himself.
He even learns destruction energy from Beerus in the manga, getting Ultra Ego form.
Vegeta helps protect the earth and universe in big tournaments and battles.
Funny & Emotional Moments
Vegeta has become known for some funny and surprising moments, like dancing to make Beerus happy, eating a lot, or being easily tricked in comedy episodes.
