Character Setting

Edit

Mimosa Vermillion is a supporting heroine from the manga and anime series Black Clover, a royal-blooded magic knight of the Clover Kingdom who specializes in powerful plant-based healing and support magic and later develops offensive spells.

Name: Mimosa Vermillion

Gender: Female

Birthday: August 26

Age: 15 (introduction) → 17 (Devil Possession arc) → 18 (Final arc)

Height: 158 cm

Blood Type: O

Place of Birth / Origin: Noble Realm (Royal region of the Clover Kingdom)

Affiliation: Golden Dawn squad (Magic Knights)

Magic Attribute: Plant

Favorite Things: Sweet desserts and the tea that best matches them

Voice Actor (Anime): Nishi Asuka

Mimosa is a royal from the prestigious Vermillion family, one of the two great royal pillars of the Clover Kingdom.

She serves as a magic knight in the elite Golden Dawn squad and is often seen teamed with Yuno Grinberryall and Klaus Lunettes on missions.

She is the cousin of Fuegoleon Vermillion, Leopold Vermillion, and Noelle Silva, and the younger sister of Kirsch Vermillion.

In contrast to her combative cousins, she fights mainly as a healer and support mage, though she later learns to stand on the front lines.

Mimosa has the characteristic orange-toned hair of the Vermillion family, though her shade is lighter and closer to brown than her relatives.

Initially, she wears her hair as long, wavy, and loose; after the Heart Kingdom training period, she is also seen with a braided half-up style.

She usually wears long, robe-like clothing that hides her figure.

The author has stated that Mimosa has the largest bust among the female characters, and this becomes even more pronounced after her training in the Heart Kingdom.

Mimosa is gentle, mild-mannered, and speaks in very polite, lady-like language, befitting her royal upbringing.

However, she often blurts out blunt or socially inappropriate comments without realizing it, leading others to call her “naturally rude”.

Despite her status, she treats everyone with warmth and fairness, regardless of social rank or origin.

She notices the strengths of people whom others look down on, such as Noelle Silva and commoners, showing her genuine kindness and integrity.

She has known Noelle since childhood and watched her struggle with magic control while never giving up.

Mimosa sincerely respects Noelle’s effort and perseverance, while Noelle, despite her tsundere nature, deeply values Mimosa as one of her few supportive relatives.

In battle, Mimosa is calm, observant, and has excellent mana sensing and situational awareness, reflecting her training in the Golden Dawn.

However, her very thorough, methodical mindset makes her weak against completely unexpected situations, sometimes causing her to freeze up; Zora Ideale explicitly points this out to her.

Family and Nobility

Mimosa is a member of the royal Vermillion family, placing her among the kingdom’s highest nobility.

She shares blood ties with Fuegoleon Vermillion, Leopold Vermillion, and Noelle Silva, making them her cousins.

Her older brother is Kirsch Vermillion, the narcissistic vice-captain of the Coral Peacocks.

Mimosa acknowledges Kirsch’s strength as a magic knight but openly despises his extreme self-love, often directing scathing remarks at him that he completely fails to take to heart.

Asta

After the first dungeon exploration, Mimosa starts to develop strong feelings for Asta.

She accepts everything about him that others sometimes mock, such as his short height and intense musculature, and her affection appears very serious.

When she is near Asta or when he talks to her, Mimosa blushes, stammers, and her inner monologue becomes very talkative and flustered.

Compared to the more reserved Noelle, Mimosa is surprisingly proactive: she hugs him, gets carried on his back, and ends up in many “close contact” situations.

During the Royal Knights selection exam, she is placed on the same team as Asta and Zora Ideale, and she cannot hide her joy at being teamed with him.

In the Shadow Palace arc, she even ends up falling from a great height with Asta, landing on top of him and pressing her chest into his face, a clear “lucky pervert” style comedy moment, followed by fighting while being carried on his back.

Friends and Allies

Mimosa is part of the broadly “elite” circle of magic knights, but she herself does not act elitist.

She respects comrades like Yuno Grinberryall and Klaus Lunettes and readily cooperates with others such as Finral Roulacase, Luck Voltia, and Secre Swallowtail.

Her friendship with Noelle is one of mutual support, balancing Noelle’s pride with Mimosa’s honest admiration.

She also builds connections outside the Clover Kingdom, especially in the Heart Kingdom, where she knows Gadjah and several locals due to a past study abroad period.

Early Magic Knight Activities

As a member of Golden Dawn, Mimosa frequently participates in missions with Yuno and Klaus.

Her plant magic initially focuses on healing, support, and reconnaissance, making her invaluable in dungeons and large-scale battles.

She first gains prominence in the dungeon exploration where Asta and Yuno also participate.

After this mission, she becomes more interested in Asta and begins to reconsider her role as purely support, deciding she wants to fight alongside him on the front lines.

Royal Knights Selection Exam

Mimosa participates in the Royal Knights (Royal Selection) Exam, where she is teamed with Asta and Zora.

Their team battles the group led by Langris Vaude, resulting in a draw.

During this exam, Zora criticizes Mimosa’s tendency to mentally “shut down” when confronted with situations beyond her expectations.

He warns her to avoid going into thoughtless panic when things do not match her predictions, pushing her to grow mentally as a battle mage.

Despite these flaws, her overall performance and prior achievements lead to her being selected as a Royal Knight.

In the anime, at this time she holds the rank of Fifth-Class Intermediate Magic Knight, and later, after subsequent achievements, she is promoted to First-Class Intermediate Magic Knight.

Eye of the Midnight Sun and Elf Reincarnation Arc

As a newly chosen Royal Knight, Mimosa participates in the assault on the base of the Eye of the Midnight Sun.

During the elf reincarnation chaos triggered by forbidden magic, she is attacked by elf-possessed Klaus Lunettes and Hamon Caseus.

She is rescued by Asta and Yuno, and then, after being blown away from the hideout by Licht, she infiltrates the Shadow Palace with Asta’s group.

There, Mimosa continues toward Licht’s location while providing support and healing to allies along the way.

Confronted with the gravely injured Rhya, whose abdomen has been partially erased by the devil Zagred’s word magic, Mimosa chooses to heal him.

She states that she needs no reason to help someone on the verge of death, even if they are an enemy or a different race, highlighting her deep compassion.

Heart Kingdom Arc and Training

In the Heart Kingdom arc, Mimosa travels with Asta, Noelle, Luck, Finral, and Secre into the Heart Kingdom.

Thanks to a previous study-abroad experience there at age 13 with her brother Kirsch, she is already familiar with the land and its customs.

Because of her local connections, Mimosa is able to handle the entry procedures into the Heart Kingdom, and she already knows the Spirit Guardian Gadjah personally.

However, when she sees Asta being captured by the Heart Kingdom forces, she joins Noelle and Finral in battling Gadjah in an attempt to save him.

In the anime-original six-month training period, Mimosa is recommended by William Vangeance to study under the Heart Kingdom’s Spirit Guardians.

At the investiture ceremony recognizing achievements from the Shadow Palace and the fight against the devil, she is promoted to Second-Class Intermediate Magic Knight (anime continuity).

Under the Spirit Guardian Sarad (called Sarado in some materials), she practices magic runic techniques, enhancing both the scale and efficiency of her healing spells.

After six months, she masters a powerful wide-area recovery magic that can heal numerous allies simultaneously.

Confrontation with Vanica and Subsequent Growth

When Vanica Zogratis and her Dark Triad forces suddenly attack the Heart Kingdom, Mimosa joins the battle.

In the midst of combat, she barely survives Vanica’s cursed explosive magic and is later carried to Elysia, a secret sanctuary deep within a strong mana region.

There, with Patri and other elves as her instructors, Mimosa decides to become even stronger by learning Ultimate Magic.

She focuses her training on evolving her healing to the highest possible level, so she can save allies even from the brink of death.

Later, at Luck Voltia’s request, Nacht Faust transports Mimosa to the Spade Kingdom battlefield.

Arriving just in time, she uses her advanced healing to save the nearly-dead Gadjah and other gravely wounded allies.

When the devil Lucifero manifests in an incomplete form, Mimosa rushes in with Yuno Grinberryall to help Asta.

She tries to heal Asta’s devastating injuries but lacks the mana to fully restore him, managing only a minimal recovery.

After Lucifero is defeated, Charmy Pappitson restores her mana with her food-based magic.

Replenished, Mimosa then heals Yami Sukehiro and Nacht, preventing them from dying of their wounds.

Mimosa’s magic attribute is Plant, which she uses primarily for healing, support, and battlefield control.

While her offensive capabilities are limited compared to pure attackers, she is one of the series’ top-tier healers and support specialists.

She excels in recovery magic, large-scale area healing, and terrain and mana sensing using plant constructs.

After deciding that she wants to fight alongside Asta instead of only behind him, she learns offensive spells as well.

Plant Magic

Plant Magic: Magic Cannon Flower

Mimosa’s first true offensive spell, learned after the early dungeon exploration.

She creates a giant flower that fires a straight-line magic beam from its center, functioning like a powerful magic cannon.

Plant Creation Magic

Plant Creation Magic: Magic Flower Guidepost

Mimosa generates a three-dimensional model of nearby terrain, buildings, or structures using plants.

Through this model, she can analyze internal layouts and detect the presence, location, and relative strength of mana sources within range.

In the anime, this is depicted as a large plant model with a kind of floating, holographic map above it.

It is incredibly useful for dungeon crawling, castle infiltration, or coordinating large-scale operations.

Plant Creation Magic: Truth Flower (Anime Original)

This anime-original spell creates a massive plant that restrains the target’s body.

A flower attaches to the target’s face, forcing them to reveal all of their hidden secrets out loud, making it a powerful interrogation and truth-extraction magic.

Plant Recovery Magic

Plant Recovery Magic: Dream-Healing Flower Cradle

Mimosa weaves a cradle or cocoon-like structure out of plants around the injured person.

While the target rests within the cradle, its healing magic steadily mends their wounds and restores their condition.

This is one of her most frequently used healing spells in earlier arcs.

It is ideal for stabilizing heavily injured allies during or just after a battle.

Plant Recovery Magic: Princess-Healing Flower Robe

Mimosa covers herself or an ally with a robe-like garment made of woven plants and flowers.

While worn, the robe continually heals injuries and reinforces the target’s vitality.

At the time of the early dungeon and subsequent missions, this is her strongest known healing magic.

It also produces decorative wing-like flower and vine extensions, giving her a regal, “princess of flowers” appearance.

Plant Recovery Magic: Princess-Healing Flower Paradise

This technique is acquired during her six months of training in the Heart Kingdom, using that kingdom’s unique magic runic system.

Mimosa spreads roots through the ground in a large area, causing flowers to bloom and infusing the region with healing mana.

Everyone within the affected zone receives ongoing recovery, making it a powerful multi-target healing field.

It is particularly useful in large-scale battles where many allies are wounded across a wide battlefield.

Plant Ultimate Magic

Plant Ultimate Magic: Flower Princess’s Dreamland

This is Mimosa’s Ultimate Magic, acquired in Elysia during training with Patri and the elves.

She adorns herself with a dress and crown woven entirely from plants, then unleashes an overwhelming surge of restorative power.

Within the spell’s range, even those with mortal or near-fatal wounds are healed almost instantly.

It represents the pinnacle of her healing ability, allowing her to truly change the outcome of battles by bringing allies back from the brink of death.

Mimosa’s core belief about healing is that saving lives needs no justification.

When questioned about healing an enemy like Rhya, she answers that she does not need a reason to help someone who is on the verge of death, regardless of whether they are an enemy or a different race.

Her stance emphasizes compassion above politics, race, or faction.

This attitude, combined with her noble background, makes her a rare royal who values lives equally, aligning her more closely with characters like Asta and Noelle than with arrogant nobles.

The creator has explicitly described Mimosa as the female character with the largest bust in Black Clover, and notes that her chest becomes even bigger after the Heart Kingdom training period.

Because she usually wears long robes, her figure is often hidden, leading some to label her a “hidden big bust” character.

She is frequently categorized as a “natural, gentle, soothing, fluffy-type, wood/plant-element healer” archetype in fandom discussions.

Her combination of upper-class origin, polite speech, oblivious rudeness, and genuine kindness makes her comparable to certain characters from other works, such as upper-class polite girls who are unintentionally blunt, or heroines with wildly annoying brothers similar to her relationship with Kirsch.
