Character Setting

Edit

Lolopechka is a major supporting character in the series Black Clover, the princess and ruler of the Heart Kingdom, famed as the “All-Knowing Mage” for her immense water magic and inherited knowledge from generations of queens.

Name: Lolopechka

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Height: 165 cm

Birthday: February 21

Blood Type: A

Favorite Things: The Heart Kingdom, cute things

Magic Attribute: Water

Affiliation: Heart Kingdom

Position: Princess / Queen of the Heart Kingdom

Contracted Spirit: Undine (Water Spirit)

Voice Actor (Japanese): Yuu Serizawa

Lolopechka is the princess-queen of the Heart Kingdom and the chosen partner of Undine, one of the four great spirits and the spirit of water.

Thanks to this contract and her lineage, she has inherited most of the power of previous queens and possesses magical strength said to rival the combined power of all Magic Knight squads of the Clover Kingdom.

She commands water magic on a national scale, using it to monitor virtually everything that happens within the Heart Kingdom.

Because of this and the vast knowledge passed down to her, she is known as the “All-Knowing Mage” or “All-Knowing Priestess.”

Within her own mind exists a “library” that stores the experiences, learning, and wisdom of all previous Heart Kingdom queens.

Using this knowledge, she can predict possible futures with high accuracy, at least in broad strokes, and strategize for her kingdom’s defense.

Despite her overwhelming magical might and insight, Lolopechka is extremely gentle, clumsy, and non-confrontational.

Her kindness is so absolute that she has never learned a single true offensive spell, which becomes one of her greatest vulnerabilities.

In public, Lolopechka appears as a dignified, composed ruler, with a calm and regal air fitting for a queen.

She usually removes her thick glasses and relies on magic to enhance her eyesight during official appearances, maintaining an elegant image.

In private, she is the complete opposite: a shut-in type who wears thick “bottle-bottom” glasses and extremely casual, sloppy clothing no one would expect from a queen.

She is notoriously clumsy, often tripping over nothing and taking spectacular falls so frequently that Asta wonders if it might be the effect of a curse.

Her nearsightedness is severe, so she keeps multiple spare pairs of glasses on hand due to how often they break when she falls.

Even so, these flaws are part of her charm and evoke strong protective and maternal instincts in others, especially Undine.

Undine has been with Lolopechka since birth and cherishes her like a real daughter.

She dotes on her, supports her emotionally and practically, and even hides certain harsh truths (like the path to the “Sanctuary”) to spare her pain.

Lolopechka is incredibly kind-hearted, empathetic, and gentle, to the point that she literally cannot bring herself to learn true attack magic.

Behind her queenly pride and sense of duty, she secretly fears death and struggles with the burden of her curse, yet she tries to smile through it for her people.

Inherited Knowledge and “All-Knowing Mage”

Lolopechka’s greatest non-combat strength is the library of knowledge stored in her mind.

Each queen of the Heart Kingdom passes on her experiences, research, and insights, forming a mental archive that Lolopechka can access.

Through this, she has near-complete information on her own kingdom, deep magical theory, and data on curses, devils, and foreign nations.

This knowledge also lets her estimate future events and threats with high probability, though not with perfect certainty.

Water Magic and Mana Zone

Lolopechka specializes in water magic on an overwhelming scale.

She uses Mana Zone and complex mana-word techniques to expand her magic across vast areas, including the entire border region of the Heart Kingdom.

She alone maintains the mist barrier that surrounds the kingdom’s borders and can create enormous constructs like stairways of water.

Her water spreads through the nation as sensors, allowing her to observe and analyze all events within the Heart Kingdom in real time.

Her grimoire is several times larger than a typical mage’s, reflecting the depth and volume of her magic and stored spells.

Even without offensive spells, her control, support, and environmental magic place her in a league far above almost any other mage.

Contract with Undine

Lolopechka is contracted with Undine, the water spirit, one of the four great elemental spirits.

Their compatibility is exceptionally high because Lolopechka’s magic power is both vast and extremely pure.

Undine amplifies Lolopechka’s already immense mana and gives her access to spirit-level water magic.

Together, they can manipulate an entire battlefield, boost allies, suppress certain enemy magics, and protect the kingdom on a national scale.

However, Undine deliberately withholds knowledge of the “Sanctuary,” a realm tied to reaching a higher stage of power.

She does this because Lolopechka’s inability to use offensive magic prevents her from reaching that stage, and Undine wishes to spare her the pain of knowing this limitation.

Sacred Water Magic and Devil-Enhanced Magic

Sacred Funerary Play of Water – Sanctuary

This is a large-scale water magic that combines Mana Zone with mana-word techniques to envelop a huge area in water.

Within this domain, certain magic types—such as blood magic—have their power reduced, while water magic and allied spells are significantly enhanced.

It functions as both a defensive and support-type “field” magic, strengthening allies and weakening specific enemy techniques.

This makes it ideal for large battles against powerful foes, especially those whose magic can be countered or dampened by water.

Dark Abyssal Evil Water Serpents

This attack spell manifests only after Lolopechka is turned into a devil-like being by Megicula’s curse power.

A massive sphere of water forms around her, from which countless enormous serpents of water strike outward as devastating attacks.

This magic is deeply at odds with Lolopechka’s gentle nature and is something she personally hates.

She is forced to wield it while under mind control, turning her own overwhelming power into a nightmare weapon against her friends.

Lolopechka is afflicted by a powerful curse from the devil Megicula, rooted in the Spade Kingdom.

Because of this curse, she is given an estimated remaining lifespan of only about one year when the story first focuses on her.

She explains this fact disturbingly matter-of-factly, even smiling as she says she will die.

However, this mask hides a deep fear of death and sorrow about leaving her kingdom and friends behind.

The curse not only shortens her life but also connects her fate to Megicula’s schemes, making her a vital target.

It pushes her to act quickly, seeking ways to defeat the devil before her time runs out.

During her training interactions with Noelle Silva and Mimosa Vermillion, Lolopechka finally confides that she truly does not want to die.

She admits she is terrified, showing the vulnerable side hidden beneath her queenly resolve.

When Asta and other members of the Black Bulls arrive in the Heart Kingdom, Lolopechka is already aware of Asta’s anti-magic potential.

Knowing that devils can only be defeated by certain rare powers, she decides to test him and his allies.

She intentionally has Gadjah, one of the Spirit Guardians, fight Asta’s group to assess their strength.

Once she sees their capabilities firsthand, she proposes an alliance with the Clover Kingdom to defeat Megicula.

Lolopechka gathers mages from the Clover Kingdom who have the potential to battle devils.

She then arranges for them to undergo intense training under the Heart Kingdom’s Spirit Guardians to raise their level in preparation for the coming conflict.

In the anime-original training arc, Lolopechka is shown to already know about Yami Sukehiro, the Black Bulls’ captain.

She and Undine are also intrigued by the “ki” technique Asta displays, recognizing that it hints at even greater potential growth for him.

After the start of the alliance, Lolopechka personally trains Noelle Silva and Secre Swallowtail.

She shares her vast knowledge, helps them refine their magic, and works to develop strategies against their future enemy, Vanica Zogratis.

Noelle and Mimosa are both royal-born mages like Lolopechka, though from the Clover Kingdom.

Over time, Lolopechka forms a genuine cross-border friendship with them, bonding over shared duties and vulnerabilities.

During training, she finally reveals her true feelings: that she is scared of dying and does not actually want to accept her fate.

Noelle and Mimosa accept her completely, refusing to let her face her death alone and promising they will win and save her.

Unbeknownst to them, Gadjah overhears this emotional confession.

Already deeply devoted to Lolopechka, he becomes even more determined to protect her and to destroy the devil who cursed her.

After six months of training, the allied forces succeed in rescuing citizens from the Spade Kingdom and seizing a border town.

However, the Heart Kingdom is abruptly attacked by Vanica Zogratis, one of the Dark Triad, who hosts the devil Megicula.

Vanica invades the royal palace with six of her Dark Disciples.

Lolopechka, alongside Noelle and Secre, confronts Vanica in a crucial battle that will decide the kingdom’s fate.

Using their prepared strategies and teamwork, they initially manage to gain the upper hand against Vanica.

Their combination of water, sealing, and offensive magic almost secures victory.

However, Vanica unveils a trap using Megicula’s curse magic, completely overturning their plan.

Noelle and Secre take heavy damage, and Undine herself is hit by Vanica’s curse, collapsing and leaving Lolopechka emotionally shattered.

Reeling from Undine’s downfall, the pain of her own curse, and the shock of their failure, Lolopechka’s mental state breaks.

Taking advantage of this, Vanica kidnaps her and retreats to the Spade Kingdom, dragging her into even darker circumstances.

In the Spade Kingdom, Lolopechka is handed over to Morris, a defected magical scholar from the Diamond Kingdom who now serves their side.

Morris uses his magic and devil-enhanced abilities to extract the Heart Kingdom’s accumulated knowledge from Lolopechka’s mind.

This stolen information greatly accelerates the creation of the Tree of Qliphoth, shortening the time needed to open the gates between the human world and the underworld.

Lolopechka is thus weaponized intellectually as well as magically against the world she tried to protect.

On top of that, Vanica’s curse magic turns Lolopechka into a puppet-like combatant.

Under mind control and devil influence, she is forced to unleash destructive attacks she would never choose to use on her own.

During the invasion of the Spade Kingdom by the Clover and Heart Kingdom forces, various mages engage in battles against the Dark Triad and their forces.

In the midst of Charlotte Roselei’s fight against Vanica, the horrifying truth is revealed: Lolopechka is being controlled as an enemy fighter.

Under the combined influence of Vanica’s curse and her own vast mana, Lolopechka unleashes terrifying, large-scale attacks.

She nearly kills Charlotte, using the kind of devastating offensive magic she personally despises.

Just in time, Noelle and Gadjah rush in and intervene.

Gadjah, who has profound loyalty and deep feelings for Lolopechka, tries desperately to defend himself without harming her.

Even as she attacks them, Lolopechka cries giant tears, unable to stop herself or communicate properly.

The scene is heartbreaking: she is reduced to a living weapon forced to hurt the ones she cares about while Vanica mocks the spectacle.

Noelle, seeing Vanica’s cruelty and the suffering forced on Lolopechka, finally explodes with rage.

This fury fuels Noelle’s resolve and power, pushing her to confront Vanica and Megicula with everything she has.

As the battle escalates, Noelle drives Vanica to the brink of death.

At the very moment Noelle is about to finish her, Megicula partially manifests using Vanica as a vessel.

In this process, Lolopechka is further transformed, gaining a devil-like form and power.

In this corrupted state, she wields the Dark Abyssal Evil Water Serpents, a brutal attack magic she would never willingly use.

She ends up impaling Gadjah with her attacks, striking him through in a devastating scene.

Despite his mortal wounds, Gadjah sets aside his own life and focuses on restraining Lolopechka and striking back at Megicula.

Summoning all his remaining strength, Gadjah stops her movement for an instant and unleashes a life-risking attack on Megicula.

Seeing Gadjah stake his life to save her and fight for her future, Lolopechka weeps, even in her corrupted state.

Megicula attempts to detonate her curses in a massive explosion that would annihilate everyone nearby.

However, Asta intervenes at the last moment, using his anti-magic to disrupt and stop the curse explosion.

Lolopechka loses consciousness as the battle continues.

Eventually, Megicula is completely defeated and erased by Noelle and her allies, which also fully breaks the curse on Lolopechka’s life.

With Megicula’s defeat, the curse that had been eating away at Lolopechka’s lifespan is entirely lifted.

Her body and soul are freed from devil influence and the looming one-year death sentence.

When she wakes up after the battle, she finds herself alive and no longer on the brink of death.

Mimosa Vermillion, having healed Gadjah’s grievous wounds, restores him to health as well.

Gadjah, having faced death and realized the depth of his feelings, finally confesses his love to Lolopechka.

This confession comes after everything they endured: his years of loyalty, his willingness to die for her, and her liberation from the curse.

Lolopechka, who had long been supported, protected, and cherished by Gadjah and Undine, is now free to live without the shadow of Megicula.

Her journey from cursed, self-doubting queen to a saved, emotionally honest young woman is one of the most poignant arcs connected to the war against the devils.
