He is the head of the Tenjin group, with many affiliated shrines across the country. He dresses in court noble robes and holds sacred treasures worn by shrine maidens. He particularly likes the poem "When the east wind blows~," and the names of his Regalia always include the character "喩" ("yu").
While he is calm now, when he first became a god, he was a vengeful and violent deity filled with regret, and his rage toward his enemy, Tokihira Fujiwara, threw the world into chaos, causing him to be feared as a vengeful spirit. Because of this, he even abandoned his Regalia that took the form of a cherry blossom. Due to his assassination in the past, he does not trust people and relies on Tsuyu as his guidepost. Having once been human, he understands the feelings of other Regalia, but he has a resigned view about the cruelty of humans who sacrifice something important to protect what they cherish.
Even after over a thousand years have passed, he sometimes becomes uncontrollable, so he keeps three Regalia on standby specifically for "prison" purposes. For this reason, the most important criterion for choosing his Regalia is their ability to maintain distance from him. He will fly into a rage and strike with lightning if anyone uses taboo words like "The Three Great Vengeful Spirits," "loser," or "demotion."
He is particularly busy during the entrance exam season and even asks Yato to help with chores. Although they have opposing views, he conditionally allowed Hiyori Iki to enter Takamagahara when Yato went to save her. He treats Hiyori Iki, who has a unique constitution, with gentlemanly respect, but is not supportive of her involvement with beings from the Far Shore.
