Carrera is one of the seven Original Demons, alongside Diablo and Guy Crimson, each representing a distinct “color.”
She manifests as a beautiful girl with dazzling golden hair and blue eyes, and her name is derived from the Porsche Carrera supercar.
Among Rimuru’s demon subordinates, Carrera boasts the greatest raw magical power.
She is famous (and feared) for casually wielding nuclear-strike–class magic that can create localized artificial black holes.
Carrera is bright, frank, and wildly arrogant, with a bold and rough temperament.
She loves living for the moment, chasing short-lived thrills and destructive fun.
Before serving Rimuru, she treated battles as entertainment and was largely indifferent to winning or losing.
After swearing loyalty, she gradually corrects this mindset, fighting with the clear directive to “never lose,” which forces her to grow both mentally and physically.
She is often described by her own subordinates as a “runaway car with no brakes.”
Carrera loves to rampage, and if left unchecked, she tends to escalate situations to catastrophic levels.
Despite her attitude, she is surprisingly diligent about her job once assigned.
She memorizes the law code accurately and remains faithful to her duties as Chief Justice, showing no tolerance for bribery or coercion.
Although she calls Rimuru “my Lord” and gives him absolute loyalty, she does not use polite speech or deferential tone at all.
From their first meeting she behaved with blatant arrogance, which irritated Diablo, but Rimuru himself accepted her without complaint.
Within the Original Demons, she is considered, like Guy Crimson, almost impossible to negotiate with.
Her idea of “fun” usually involves overwhelming force, large-scale destruction, and pushing her own power to its limits.
Carrera is one of the most offensively focused characters in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
Her destructive capabilities are such that careless use of her techniques could annihilate entire regions—or even a planet.
Magic: Gravity Collapse
Her signature nuclear-strike spell is Gravity Collapse.
By compressing an Abyss Core, a nucleus of pitch-black flame, she creates a small, artificial black hole.
Among nuclear-strike–class spells, Gravity Collapse is described as one of the most destructive.
If she did not tightly limit its effective range, it could turn the entirety of the Jura Forest into scorched wasteland.
Ultimate Skill: Death King Abaddon
During the war with the Eastern Empire, Carrera receives souls from Rimuru and undergoes an awakened evolution into a Demon God–class Demon Lord.
This grants her the ultimate skill Death King Abaddon, which focuses entirely on destructive, offensive capabilities.
Death King Abaddon includes various authorities, such as:
Thought Acceleration
Universal Perception
Demon Lord Haki (aura of dominance)
Space-Time Manipulation
Multidimensional Barrier
Limit Break
Dimensional Severance
Rimuru’s analysis suggests that with this power, Carrera could even destroy floors of Ramiris’s labyrinth, which is famed for its extreme durability.
For a power-focused fighter like her, Death King Abaddon is the perfect “hammer” for every target.
Ultimate Magic: Abyss Annihilation
Carrera also develops an ultimate spell called Abyss Annihilation.
This magic feeds matter from the bottom of the abyss into a Gravity Collapse field, generating an immense torrent of destructive energy.
Abyss Annihilation surpasses Gravity Collapse in sheer destructive potential.
However, it originally came with a fatal flaw: if she misjudged control even slightly, it could literally obliterate the planet.
Before gaining her ultimate skill, she repeatedly practiced Abyss Annihilation but never once succeeded in fully stabilizing it.
Only after acquiring Death King Abaddon and its superior control functions can she finally use this spell safely in combat.
Swordsmanship
Under her subordinate Agera, Carrera takes up swordsmanship as a hobby.
Despite starting for fun, she trains thoroughly enough to receive full mastery, effectively earning a “license of complete transmission” in that style.
In battle, Carrera combines high-speed sword techniques with her overwhelming magic and ultimate skills.
Her finishing move Oboro: Hundred Blossoms in Full Bloom is a killing sword technique in which she unleashes a storm of a hundred ultra-fast strikes, finishing with a decisive diagonal slash.
Defensive and Special Traits
Thanks to her evolution and status as an Original Demon, Carrera possesses:
Complete nullification of physical attacks
Nullification of abnormal status effects
Nullification of mental attacks
Immunity to environmental hazards
Resistance to both holy and demonic attribute attacks
These defenses, coupled with her massive power, make her nearly impossible to kill by conventional means.
Golden Gun (South-Style Large Automatic Pistol)
Carrera inherits a modified firearm originally owned by Kondo Tatsuya, commander of the Imperial Guard.
The weapon was damaged during their battle, but when Kondo entrusts his power to her in his final moments, the pistol is reborn as a golden weapon.
This Golden Gun adds an additional 3,370,000 EP to her combat power.
More importantly, it becomes the vessel for the ultimate skill Judgment King Sandalphon.
Judgment King Sandalphon
Kondo Tatsuya originally possessed the ultimate skill Judgment King Sandalphon.
Upon his death, this skill transfers to Carrera, residing within the Golden Gun.
This gives Carrera access to a suite of specialized “bullet” authorities:
Barrier Break Bullet (Remove)
Breaks enemy defensive barriers.
Dispel Bullet (Dispel)
Cancels ongoing magical effects.
Curse Break Bullet (Necrosis)
Destroys the target’s magic circuits, crippling their ability to use magic.
Erasure Bullet (Eraser)
A high-density magic projectile that targets and consumes the enemy’s energy by exploiting their properties.
Divine Annihilation Bullet (Judgment)
Combines all the above effects into one ultimate shot.
It can only be fired once per day, but its power is such that it can threaten even dragon-class beings, the strongest race in the setting.
Because of this, Carrera effectively holds two ultimate skills: Death King Abaddon and Judgment King Sandalphon.
This dual-ultimate setup makes her one of the most terrifyingly versatile offensive fighters in the series.
Rimuru Tempest
Rimuru is Carrera’s absolute master and the one she addresses as “my Lord.”
Despite her lack of polite speech, her loyalty to him is unwavering.
Initially, Carrera only intended to lend her power temporarily and even planned to provoke Rimuru because of how important he was to Diablo.
However, when she meets him, she is impressed by his calm and unshaken demeanor, even in front of Original Demons.
Instead of treating him as prey or plaything, she voluntarily pledges fealty to Rimuru.
He provides her with a vessel (a gorgeous, custom-designed body whose skeleton is made from orichalcum) and gives her the name “Carrera,” formalizing her contract.
Rimuru later recognizes her achievements in the war with the Empire, grants her the title Menace Lord, and positions her as one of the Holy-Demonic Twelve Guardian Lords.
He also bestows souls upon her, allowing her to awaken as a Demon God–class Demon Lord with an ultimate skill.
Diablo
Diablo is the one who first recruits Carrera to Rimuru’s side.
He sees potential in her as a useful subordinate who can handle “odd jobs,” meaning extremely dangerous tasks requiring massive firepower.
Carrera’s casual arrogance and lack of respect toward Rimuru annoy Diablo, who takes his own service extremely seriously.
The tension between them is mostly one-sided irritation from Diablo, while Carrera remains relaxed and unbothered.
Even so, both are Original Demons and respect strength, so they coexist as powerful officers under Rimuru.
Their rivalry is more about pride and status than outright hostility.
Testarossa and Ultima
Carrera is often grouped together with Testarossa and Ultima as one of Rimuru’s “Three Demonesses,” all originally from the ranks of the Original Demons.
While Testarossa is calm and composed and Ultima is playful but sadistic, Carrera represents the straightforward, battle-hungry, explosive type.
In Tempest’s judiciary, Carrera serves as Chief Justice, while Ultima becomes the Prosecutor General.
The two clash frequently over how to handle criminals, often escalating disagreements into brutal, mafia-level brawls that Diablo must break up.
Agera
Agera is one of Carrera’s closest subordinates and a male demon who serves as her sword instructor.
Among the “three girls’” attendants, he is the youngest by demonic generation but has climbed to Carrera’s side purely through swordsmanship.
He is constantly stressed by Carrera’s reckless and free-spirited behavior.
However, when he loses his temper, he too goes full throttle, frightening their colleague Esprit with his intensity.
In truth, Agera is the reincarnation of Araki Byakuya, the legendary human swordmaster and grandfather of Hakurou.
He also inspired the sword styles later adopted by Hakurou and Gazel Dwargo, making him the ancestor of several significant sword schools.
After reincarnating as a demon, Agera lost his memories as Byakuya.
Still, he retains a human warrior’s mindset: unlike typical demons who flaunt overwhelming power openly, he believes a fighter should conceal trump cards and fight carefully.
In the novel version, Agera formally teaches swordsmanship to both Carrera and Esprit.
It is also revealed that he once had a younger brother; this brother’s transmitted sword techniques are what Kondo Tatsuya later learns.
Esprit
Esprit is a female demon subordinate who serves alongside Agera as one of Carrera’s attendants.
Among the attendants, she is the only other woman.
Esprit constantly follows Carrera’s lead and often pushes troublesome roles onto Agera.
She jokingly calls Agera “old man,” despite being older than him in truth.
Her relationship with Carrera is more like senior–junior or close friends than strict master and servant.
She even holds the humorous title “Bestie of the Tyrant,” highlighting the bizarre but deep bond between them.
Esprit possesses a telepathic communication ability, which, interestingly, only Carrera knows about.
This allows them to coordinate in ways others cannot easily track.
Leon Cromwell
Before joining Rimuru, Carrera’s main “playground” was the continent where Leon Cromwell ruled the Golden City of Eldorado.
She manifested through a Hell Gate that linked the spiritual and material worlds and used Leon’s domain as a convenient target range.
For amusement, she frequently fired nuclear-strike–class spells at Eldorado, forcing Leon to deal with devastating attacks out of sheer provocation.
Leon was thus repeatedly troubled by her antics, even though he was himself a powerful Demon Lord.
In the mobile game side story “Interview with Original Yellow,” Carrera reveals more about her history with Leon.
She explains that Leon, egged on by the demon Violet, destroyed the homunculus body she was preparing as her vessel, causing her to lose motivation in the “incarnation competition.”
Kondo Tatsuya
Kondo Tatsuya is the commander of the Imperial Guard of the Eastern Empire and a swordsman who inherits a sword style derived from Agera’s younger brother.
This makes him, in a sense, “distantly related” in sword lineage to Hakurou, Gazel Dwargo, and Carrera (who trains under Agera).
Both the web and novel versions depict a fierce death match between Carrera and Kondo, though the exact outcomes differ slightly.
In the novel, Carrera faces Kondo aboard the Emperor’s flagship after her evolution.
Despite being human, Kondo’s power surpasses even Carrera’s, driving her to the brink of death.
At that moment, her desperate desire for more power crystallizes into the awakening of Death King Abaddon, allowing her to overpower Kondo with a combination of ultimate magic and swordsmanship.
As Kondo dies, Carrera stays with him to the end and receives his skill and entire soul.
This inheritance grants her the Golden Gun and Judgment King Sandalphon, dramatically increasing her already immense power.
Early Activities and Eldorado
Originally, Carrera operated from a different continent across the sea from the Jura Forest.
This region housed Leon Cromwell’s Golden City Eldorado, which became the target of her “pranks.”
She appeared there by exploiting a Hell Gate, a dimensional rift connecting the spiritual and physical planes.
For fun, she repeatedly launched nuclear-strike spells at Eldorado, treating it as an outlet for her frustration and boredom.
According to her interview in the mobile game, she had previously attempted to create a physical vessel for herself.
Combining the homunculus technology of the Magic Dynasty Sarion with relics of a Chaos Dragon, she managed to construct a powerful, dragon-infused body without a soul and nearly completed the incarnation process.
However, Leon, spurred on by Violet, destroyed this homunculus.
This failure caused Carrera to lose interest in the entire incarnation project and to vent by going on a rampage in Leon’s region, which is how her “Eldorado bombardment” began.
Recruitment by Diablo
At some point, Diablo approached Carrera and suggested she work for Rimuru.
Curious and amused, she visited Rimuru’s nation intending only to lend her strength temporarily.
She also entertained the idea of provoking Rimuru, whom Diablo valued so highly, just to see what would happen.
Instead, Rimuru’s steady composure and lack of fear impressed her deeply, even though she is one of the Original Demons.
Carrera decided of her own will to submit to Rimuru.
He then created a custom human-like vessel for her, personally adjusting its beautiful appearance and even reinforcing its skeletal structure with orichalcum as a “bonus,” and formally named her.
From that point, Carrera became one of Rimuru’s direct subordinates and joined the upper echelon of Tempest’s forces.
Her allegiance shifted away from chaotic self-indulgence towards a more structured loyalty, though her destructive nature hardly diminished.
Chief Justice of Tempest
Within the Jura Tempest Federation, Carrera assumes the role of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
She handles the final judgments and legal decisions in the country’s judiciary.
Despite her rough personality, she takes the job itself seriously.
She remembers the laws accurately and applies them fairly, resisting any form of bribery or intimidation.
Together with Ultima, who serves as Prosecutor General, she forms a frighteningly powerful legal duo.
Unfortunately, they repeatedly get into vicious fights over how to punish criminals, going so far beyond normal “arguments” that they resemble gang wars, prompting Rimuru to send Diablo to break them up.
In the spin-off series “The Ways of the Monster Nation,” Carrera is once again shown butting heads with Ultima.
The two glare each other down over the fate of a culprit, proving that their professional rivalry is as intense as ever.
War with the Eastern Empire
During the war between Rimuru’s nation and the Eastern Empire, Carrera plays a decisive battlefield role.
She enters the front near the end of the initial clash with the Imperial Armored Corps.
Once unleashed, she casts Gravity Collapse on the opposing forces.
The spell effectively delivers the finishing blow to the Armored Corps, annihilating their capacity to fight.
Rimuru later acknowledges her massive contribution to the battle.
He grants her the title Menace Lord and appoints her as one of the Holy-Demonic Twelve Guardian Lords, a special group of elite protectors under his command.
In the final phase of the war, when Rimuru confronts the Emperor’s forces, Carrera, Testarossa, and Ultima all receive additional souls from Rimuru.
This infusion allows each of them to undergo an awakened evolution, with Carrera emerging as a Demon God–class Demon Lord.
Duel with Kondo Tatsuya
Aboard the Emperor’s flagship, Carrera faces Kondo Tatsuya, the mighty commander of the Imperial Guard.
Though human, Kondo’s power is so great that Carrera is pushed to the brink, forced to seriously confront death.
In that desperate state, Carrera’s wish for more power triggers the awakening of her ultimate skill Death King Abaddon.
With this new ability, she gains perfect control of her overwhelming magical might.
Combining Abyss Annihilation with her perfected swordsmanship, she reverses the tide and defeats Kondo.
She respects him enough to watch over his final moments, honoring him as a worthy opponent.
As he passes, Kondo entrusts his entire soul and ultimate skill to her.
This inheritance not only gives Carrera the Golden Gun and Judgment King Sandalphon but also elevates her from a pure destroyer into an even more versatile and terrifying combatant.
Carrera’s design and name are a direct homage to the Porsche Carrera, a high-performance sports car, fitting her identity as a “runaway car with no brakes.”
Within Tempest, people sometimes compare her personality to an over-tuned racing machine: incredibly fast, immensely powerful, and very hard to stop once she starts moving.
Her previous attempt at creating a physical vessel blended cutting-edge homunculus technology from the Magic Dynasty Sarion with remnants of a Chaos Dragon.
She actually reached just one step short of full incarnation, a feat that would have made her one of the few demons with a fully custom-made body from the start.
The voice actor Ikumi Hasegawa, who plays Carrera, also voices the character Oroi in the OVA “Rimuru’s Glamorous Teacher Life.”
This dual casting underlines how flexible her performance range is, from destructive demon lord to comedic side character.
