Lisa Isaribi

Lisa Isaribi is a young woman who was taken in and protected by Vulcan Joseph, living and working with him in his workshop.

Despite appearing as a quiet supporter in his life, she was secretly a member of the Knights of the Ashen Flame, acting as a spy under Dr. Giovanni’s orders.

She is a Third Generation pyrokinetic, capable of controlling her own flames like flexible tentacles.

These flames are magnetized and can automatically track living beings by homing in on the faint magnetic field emitted by their bodies.

However, her magnetized flames are difficult to control when surrounded by machines or devices that emit strong magnetic fields.

In such environments, her ability becomes unreliable and can even go out of control.

Her blood type is O.

Her voice actor in the anime adaptation is Ayaka Asai.

As a child, Lisa lost her parents in a fire caused by an Infernal, leaving her an orphan.

Dr. Giovanni found her in this vulnerable state and took her in, shaping her future path.

Under Dr. Giovanni’s care, she was subjected to experiments involving the Insect, a device used to artificially create Infernals and ability users.

Lisa happened to be compatible with the Insect, which awakened her pyrokinetic powers and made her a Third Generation.

After gaining her abilities, she was recruited into the Knights of the Ashen Flame, working as one of their members.

On top of that, Giovanni embedded her as a spy in Vulcan’s life, instructing her to monitor and manipulate him as needed.

Living with Vulcan Joseph, she developed genuine feelings and bonds despite her mission.

This emotional conflict became central to her eventual breakaway from Giovanni’s control.

Lisa is a Third Generation pyrokinetic, meaning she can generate and control flames from her own body.

Her signature ability is to shape her flames into tentacle-like whips, which can strike, restrain, or pursue targets with great flexibility.

These flame tentacles possess magnetic properties.

They can sense and automatically home in on the weak magnetic field that all living beings naturally emit, allowing for semi-autonomous tracking attacks.

Because of this magnetic nature, her fire can behave almost like guided projectiles, chasing down moving opponents.

This makes her particularly dangerous in open areas with few machines.

However, the downside of this ability is its sensitivity to surrounding magnetism.

When Lisa is in an environment filled with machines or devices that emit magnetic fields, the interference disrupts her control.

In such conditions, her tentacle flames may veer off target, behave erratically, or lose precision.

This limitation can be exploited in battle by forcing her to fight in mechanically dense areas.

Spy Within Vulcan’s Workshop

Lisa initially appears as a woman living and working alongside Vulcan Joseph.

To him, she is a trusted companion he has personally protected and taken in.

Unknown to Vulcan at first, Lisa has been secretly dispatched by Dr. Giovanni as a spy.

Her mission is to watch Vulcan, report on him, and ultimately support the plans of the Knights of the Ashen Flame and the Evangelist.

Despite her covert role, Lisa forms real emotional ties with Vulcan through their shared daily life.

This emotional bond later clashes with her loyalty to Giovanni and the Knights of the Ashen Flame.

Battle and Reconciliation with Special Fire Force Company 8

During a confrontation involving Akitaru Oubi and Company 8, Lisa engages Oubi in combat.

Using her tentacle flames, she proves to be a formidable opponent at first.

However, Oubi eventually defeats her in battle.

At the climax, Lisa falls and is in danger of plunging to her death.

In that critical moment, Vulcan Joseph reaches out and saves her instead of letting her fall.

This act of selfless compassion breaks through her guilt and confusion.

Moved by Vulcan’s choice, Lisa reconciles with him and begins to turn away from Dr. Giovanni’s control.

Because of her situation and vulnerability, she is then taken under the protection of Special Fire Force Company 8.

Trauma from Dr. Giovanni and Mental Recovery

After betraying her former handler, Lisa becomes a target of Dr. Giovanni’s wrath.

He attacks her as punishment and to regain control over his former asset.

Company 8 intervenes and manages to rescue her from Giovanni’s assault.

Even though her body is saved, Lisa suffers serious mental and emotional trauma from the experience.

Haunted by her past and the abuse under Giovanni, she struggles with fear and guilt.

Over time, however, surrounded by Vulcan and the members of Company 8, she gradually begins to recover.

As her trust in them grows, Lisa chooses to officially join Company 8.

She shifts from a former enemy spy into a genuine ally and comrade.

Battle at Amaterasu and Final Break with Giovanni

During the defense of Amaterasu, Lisa once again confronts Dr. Giovanni in battle.

Facing him triggers her deep-seated fear, and she initially hesitates and falters.

In the middle of the fight, Giovanni’s presence and past cruelty overwhelm her, and she is unable to fully commit to attacking him.

Her trauma threatens to paralyze her and undo her progress.

At this crucial moment, Vulcan Joseph calls out to her.

His encouragement and faith give Lisa the strength to reject Giovanni completely.

Empowered by Vulcan’s words, Lisa fully severs her emotional ties to Dr. Giovanni.

With renewed resolve, she fights back and succeeds in defeating him in that clash.

Yuu’s Possession and Aftermath

Although Giovanni appears to be defeated, he has already prepared another cruel scheme.

Through his machinations, Yuu becomes possessed or taken over by Giovanni’s influence.

Seeing Yuu, someone close to their group, under Giovanni’s control drives Lisa into despair.

She is devastated that Giovanni’s reach still hurts the people around her, even after she chose to oppose him.

Later, Arthur Boyle steps in and burns Giovanni, bringing an end to his lingering threat.

With Giovanni finally reduced to nothing, Yuu returns to normal.

Lisa is reunited with the restored Yuu, relieved that he is himself again.

Overcome with emotion, she breaks into tears and rejoices, a powerful sign of how much she values her new bonds and how far she has come from Giovanni’s manipulated tool to a true member of Company 8.
