Lido is a male lizardman Xenós from the series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, an intelligent monster who serves as one of the earliest members and de facto leaders of the Xenós and advocates peaceful coexistence between monsters and humans.

Name: Lido

Gender: Male

Race: Lizardman (Monster, Xenós)

Age: 20

Height: 167 cm

Affiliation: Xenós

Estimated Level: Level 5 (equivalent to a Level 5 adventurer)

Notable Features: Scarlet-red scales, orpiment-yellow eyes, bipedal lizardman appearance

Role: Xenós leader / frontline fighter

Voice Actor (Anime): Masaki Mizunaka

Lido is a member of the Xenós, a group of monsters born with human-level intelligence and emotions.

Despite being a monster, he thinks and feels like a human and is capable of fluent human speech.

Among the Xenós he is one of the earliest and most senior members, alongside Gross and Rei.

Because the elder wood dragon Gryuu cannot move freely due to his massive body, Lido often acts as the practical leader and front-facing representative of the group.

He strongly desires coexistence between humans and monsters and becomes one of the main bridges between the Xenós and the Hestia Familia.

His relationship with Bell Cranel in particular becomes a symbol of this hoped-for coexistence.

Lido looks fierce and intimidating, covered in red scales with sharp features, but his personality is bright, sociable, and full of charm.

He jokes easily, speaks casually, and is quick to laugh, making him very approachable despite his appearance.

He refers to himself in a casual, friendly way and has a habit of giving affectionate nicknames to those he trusts.

For example, he calls Bell Cranel “Bell-chi” and Liliruca Arde “Lili-chi,” showing a kind of playful intimacy.

Within the Xenós, Lido is the leading moderate voice who earnestly wishes for coexistence with humanity.

He carries a strong sense of responsibility as a leader and holds a “great wish” in his heart: a future where humans and monsters can live together without fear.

After meeting the Hestia Familia, Lido feels that the situation of the Xenós is slowly beginning to change for the better.

He is especially grateful to Bell Cranel, who becomes the catalyst for that change and a concrete proof that humans can accept them.

First Meeting with Hestia Familia

When the Hestia Familia brings Wiene to the hidden village of the Xenós on the 20th floor, Lido steps forward to judge what kind of humans they are.

He tests them in battle, watching how they act under pressure.

During this clash, Bell and his companions risk themselves to protect Wiene, even though she is a monster.

Seeing this, Lido realizes they are different from the humans who have hunted and mistreated the Xenós, and he feels genuine joy.

He approaches Bell Cranel himself and asks for a handshake as a sign of trust and acceptance.

When Bell responds and takes his hand, Lido feels that humans may truly be able to accept them, and he leads the Xenós in warmly welcoming and entertaining the Hestia Familia in the hidden village.

He tells them that he sees the Hestia Familia as a beacon of hope for coexistence between humans and monsters.

Lido also shares a personal dream: one day he wants to go up to the surface and see the sunrise with his own eyes, not just as a memory.

Xenós Abductions and the Attack on Rivira

After Wiene is entrusted to them and the Xenós part ways with the Hestia Familia, tragedy strikes.

The Ikeros Familia begins targeting the rare Xenós, cruelly slaughtering some and abducting others for experiments and profit.

Many of Lido’s comrades fall victim to these attacks, and the surviving Xenós are consumed by fury and a desire for revenge.

Lido tries to restrain them and persuade them against reckless retaliation, but he cannot fully deny his own rage at the atrocities committed against his people.

Ultimately, Lido joins the others in pursuing the Ikeros Familia and launches an assault on Rivira, the town on the middle floors.

There he encounters Bell Cranel again, who has infiltrated the situation disguised as part of a suppression force.

Believing coexistence with humans may be impossible after all, and not wanting Bell to be dragged down and punished for associating with monsters, Lido pushes Bell away.

He tries to cut their ties to avoid causing Bell further trouble, even though it pains him.

Bell’s Words and Resistance to the Curse

The conflict escalates when the enemy leader Dix Perdix uses a curse to drive the Xenós into a berserk, crazed state.

Lido also falls victim to this curse and is thrown into chaos, torn between madness and his true will.

In the midst of this, Bell Cranel shouts that “saving someone has nothing to do with whether they are human or monster.”

Bell refuses to abandon the Xenós, risking his life to protect them despite the danger and the prejudice of the world.

Bell’s conviction strikes deep into Lido’s heart and becomes a lifeline that helps him resist the curse.

By sheer willpower, Lido fights against the magical madness, regains himself, and joins Bell in cornering Dix.

Lido is deeply moved that Bell would risk his own future and reputation on the surface to protect Wiene and the Xenós.

He comes to truly believe that coexistence is possible and feels profound gratitude and renewed hope.

Return Operation to the Dungeon

After the chaos in Orario, a large-scale operation is launched to return the Xenós from the surface back into the Dungeon.

Lido coordinates with the Hestia Familia and the mysterious mage Fels to guide and protect his comrades during the operation.

He takes part in tactical movements through the underground routes and plays a key role in keeping the Xenós together and safe.

While he must move in the shadows, his leadership is vital to the success of this delicate mission.

In Sword Oratoria: Knossos and Alliance with Loki Familia

In the side story series Sword Oratoria, more details are revealed about what Lido and the Xenós are doing behind the scenes.

While traversing the man-made labyrinth Knossos, Lido’s group encounters the Loki Familia.

They are then hit by a surprise attack from the remnants of the Evilus faction.

Lido and the Xenós manage to avoid disaster with the timely arrival of Finn Deimne and allied adventurers.

Witnessing Bell’s duel with Asterius on the surface leaves a strong impression on Finn.

Moved by what he sees, Finn approaches Fels and Lido to propose a collaboration in the campaign to destroy Knossos.

Lido participates in negotiations with Finn alongside Fels, and the Xenós agree to cooperate.

From that point on, Lido and his comrades support the effort to clear Knossos from the shadows.

Continued Bonds and Rescue of Hestia Familia

Back in the Dungeon, Lido keeps in contact with the Hestia Familia through Fels and other intermediaries.

He promises that if the Hestia Familia ever faces a crisis, the Xenós will come to their aid.

He later fulfills this promise.

When the Hestia Familia is on a deep Dungeon expedition and falls into an irregular disaster, Lido leads Xenós reinforcements to rescue them.

He and his comrades provide crucial support, helping the beleaguered adventurers survive where they would otherwise have perished.

In doing so, Lido shows that the relationship between the Xenós and the Hestia Familia is not a one-sided favor but a genuine mutual bond.

Contribution to the Knossos Campaign

During the Knossos campaign seen in Sword Oratoria, Lido and the Xenós work behind the scenes to influence the outcome of a battle that could decide Orario’s fate.

They destroy simplified plant-type monster reactors that generate monsters within Knossos.

They also help defeat a Demi-Spirit, a powerful split-off fragment of a spirit used as a living weapon.

Although the general public never learns what they did, their actions significantly weaken Knossos and aid the adventurer forces.

In the Deep Floors and the Corrupted Spirit

During the large-scale deep-floor expedition led by the Loki Familia down to the 60th floor, Lido and the Xenós secretly observe events from the shadows.

Their goal is to be ready to intervene if a disaster occurs.

That disaster arrives when a Corrupted Spirit nearly wipes out the alliance forces.

As Raul Nord and the survivors try to retreat back to the surface, swarms of monsters attack them.

Lido and the Xenós step in, fighting to shield Raul and the others from the pursuing monsters.

They buy precious time and help ensure that at least part of the expedition can escape alive.

Later, when Finn and several others are left behind in the dangerous 60th floor region, Lido heads down personally with Wiene and Asterius.

They search the floor and manage to find and rescue Hegni, one of the stranded adventurers.

Afterward, Lido and his group link up with Bell Cranel’s rescue team.

Together they push toward the deepest part of the floor and join the battle against the Corrupted Spirit itself.

Lido is a frontline fighter who specializes in dual-wielding swords.

He uses a long straight sword in one hand and a curved sword in the other, combining them into a fluid two-sword style honed within the Dungeon.

His fighting style is aggressive but controlled, making full use of his lizardman physique, agility, and durability.

He is experienced against many types of monsters and adventurers, which gives him keen battlefield instincts.

One of Lido’s most outstanding abilities is his breath attack.

He can unleash a powerful stream of flames from his mouth, essentially a flamethrower-like breath that can scorch enemies at mid-range.

This flame breath is not a standard trait of normal lizardmen in the Dungeon.

It marks Lido as a special variant and gives him a major advantage in situations where raw power or area control is needed.

In terms of overall combat strength, Lido is regarded as equivalent to a Level 5 adventurer.

Bell Cranel even judges him to be stronger than Phryne Jamil of the Ishtar Familia based on their brief clash.

Lido himself claims he is confident he could defeat any Level 5 adventurer in one-on-one combat, with the sole exception of Shakti Varma of the Ganesha Familia.

This confidence is not just bravado; it reflects his real combat record and practical experience.

For a long time, Lido was the strongest among the Xenós.

However, once Asterius, the minotaur Xenós, joined them, Lido was surpassed in pure combat power.

Lido feels a bit frustrated and competitive about being overtaken.

At the same time, he respects Asterius and uses this as motivation to keep pushing his own limits as a warrior.

Xenós

As one of the earliest members and de facto leader, Lido is at the heart of the Xenós community.

He serves as a middle point between old-timers like Gross and Rei and newer members like Asterius and Wiene.

He bears the emotional burden of leadership: deciding whether to fight, flee, trust humans, or hide.

The grief he feels when comrades are killed or abducted weighs heavily on him and drives many of his choices.

Despite this, he continues to stand at the front, shielding his comrades and advocating for coexistence instead of simple vengeance.

This mix of warmth and resolve makes him someone the Xenós naturally rally around.

Bell Cranel

Bell Cranel is the single human who most changes Lido’s worldview.

From their first battle-test in the hidden village, Lido recognizes Bell’s willingness to protect Wiene as something extraordinary.

Bell’s declaration that saving someone has nothing to do with being human or monster becomes a core inspiration for Lido.

It strengthens his belief that coexistence is not just a distant dream but a real possibility.

Lido deeply respects Bell as a leader and as a person with unwavering resolve.

He is also protective of Bell’s future and reputation and initially tries to cut ties to avoid harming Bell, even if it hurts him emotionally.

Over time, their relationship becomes mutual and reciprocal.

Bell risks his life to save the Xenós, and Lido later risks his own for Bell and the Hestia Familia, forming a bond of trust that transcends race.

Hestia Familia

Lido sees the Hestia Familia as pioneers of coexistence and as precious allies.

Their willingness to treat Wiene and the other Xenós as people, not monsters, leaves a lasting impact.

He welcomes them warmly to the hidden village and later cooperates with them in multiple joint operations.

In return, the Hestia Familia entrusts Lido and the Xenós with tasks ordinary adventurers cannot handle openly.

Lido has promised that if the Hestia Familia is ever in danger, the Xenós will come.

He proves this promise is real when he leads a rescue force to save them during their Dungeon expedition.

Loki Familia and Finn Deimne

Through the events surrounding Knossos and the deep-floor crisis, Lido builds a cautious but growing relationship with the Loki Familia.

They initially meet under tense circumstances in Knossos, but shared enemies and mutual aid shift the dynamic.

Finn Deimne, in particular, recognizes the value and humanity of the Xenós after witnessing Bell and Asterius fight.

He approaches Lido and Fels to form a strategic partnership, treating them as potential allies rather than mere monsters.

Lido responds thoughtfully to Finn’s proposal and agrees to collaborate in the campaign against Knossos.

From that point on, he becomes a key unseen supporter of the Loki Familia’s efforts.

Fels

Fels is the mysterious mage who acts as the bridge between Uranus, the Guild, and the Xenós.

Lido often coordinates with Fels in planning movements, negotiations, and rescue operations.

Their relationship is built on mutual trust and respect, with Fels handling external strategy and Lido managing the Xenós on the ground.

Together, they negotiate with Finn Deimne and manage delicate interactions with surface forces.

Lido’s greatest dream is a world where monsters like the Xenós and humans can live side by side without bloodshed.

He knows this is difficult in a city like Orario, where “monster” usually means “enemy to be killed.”

Even so, he is unwilling to abandon that ideal.

His memory of the sunrise, and his desire to see it again on the surface with his comrades, becomes a symbol of that hope.

Bell Cranel and the Hestia Familia give Lido proof that his dream is not empty fantasy.

The alliances with Finn and the Loki Familia further show that change is possible, even in small, quiet steps.

Lido carries both the anger of a persecuted monster and the compassion of a leader who wants a better future for everyone.

That tension shapes his actions and keeps him moving forward, one fight and one handshake at a time.
