Zanpakuto - Kyoka Suigetsu

Aizen's zanpakuto is Kyoka Suigetsu, known as one of the most dangerous ever.

Its name means "Mirror Flower, Water Moon."

It can create complete hypnosis if someone sees it being released even once—controlling all five senses and spiritual perception.

After that, every release of Kyoka Suigetsu can keep someone trapped in Aizen’s illusions.

The Kind Captain

Faking His Death

When chaos grows around Rukia Kuchiki’s scheduled execution, Aizen shocks everyone—he appears murdered, pinned to a wall.

This apparent murder sets off mistrust and panic among the Soul Reapers.

The True Villain

It is revealed that Aizen faked his own death using Kyoka Suigetsu’s hypnosis to manipulate everyone.

He wanted to get the Hogyoku, a mysterious object invented by Kisuke Urahara, believing it would grant him power beyond a Soul Reaper.

Aizen caused incidents that resulted in many Soul Reapers turning into Vizards and pinned the blame on Urahara so he would be exiled.

He began experiments on combining Soul Reapers and Hollows, creating Arrancars, and gathered powerful followers like Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tosen.

Aizen was also the mastermind who sent dangerous Hollows, resulting in the deaths of key characters’ loved ones and shaping the main cast’s fates.

Becoming the Arrancar Leader

Aizen moves to Hueco Mundo, takes control of the Arrancars, and forms the Espada, his elite fighting force.

He kidnaps Orihime Inoue, uses her as bait, and causes Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends to storm Hueco Mundo to rescue her.

One after another, powerful Espada fall to the Soul Reapers and their allies.

Invasion and Final Battle

Aizen invades the World of the Living, leaving his Espada to battle the Soul Reapers.

After most of his elite followers are defeated, he decides the Espada have failed him and eliminates them himself, especially Tier Harribel.

He then fights the strongest Soul Reapers, including Captain Commander Yamamoto, defeating and outclassing many with ease.

His own two closest allies, Gin and Tosen, betray and are killed in the chaos.

Battle with Ichigo and Defeat

Gin betrays Aizen and almost manages to kill him, learning the secret to Kyoka Suigetsu’s hypnosis.

However, Aizen’s use of the Hogyoku evolves him even further, making him nearly immortal.

Finally, Ichigo faces Aizen in a huge, climactic battle, using his ultimate attack to defeat him.

Kisuke Urahara seals Aizen away with powerful kido, sending him to the lowest level of the Soul Society prison.

Thousand-Year Blood War

Much later, when the Quincy king Yhwach attacks Soul Society, Aizen briefly returns.

He refuses to join Yhwach, uses his powers to protect Soul Society for a moment, and again fights with overwhelming strength—even while chained to a special prison chair.

Aizen, Ichigo, and Renji fight Yhwach together, using Kyoka Suigetsu to trick him and help Ichigo land the final blow.

True Motivation

Aizen’s exact reason for wanting to overthrow the Soul King is unclear.

He hated the idea of people worshipping a sealed, powerless "king" who exists only as a sacrifice.

Some think Aizen wanted to save the Soul King, replace him, or prove no ruler should sit in a lonely, forced throne.

Gin Ichimaru

Arrancar and Espada

Aizen personally recruited and led the Arrancar and the Espada.
