Irumyuui is an indigenous girl with brown skin and silver hair, hired as a guide by the Ganja Expeditionary Team when they arrived in the Abyss. Born with a disability regarding her reproductive functions, she was abandoned by her family.
She quickly bonded with Vueloeluko among the team members, feeling a strong maternal connection. Unfortunately, she couldn't escape infection by the "Mimic Water," falling gravely ill and teetering on the brink of death. It was then that she was given the "Cradle of Desire," an artifact capable of granting wishes, especially effective when used by children.
This resulted in her body endlessly giving birth to short-lived creatures, though she lost her human form and the ability to speak. Her countless children were tragically taken by Wazukyan before their deaths and used as food. Later, the second "Cradle of Desire" used by Wazukyan added the functions of a Narehate Village to her. Ultimately, Irumyuui utilized three "Cradle of Desire" – two used on herself and one possessed by Wazukyan – to give birth to her final child, Faputa, outside the village.
Irumyuui was an indigenous girl living in the Abyss, who accompanied the Ganja Expeditionary Team as their guide. Though initially shy and wary, she also possessed a childlike need for affection and showed innocent traits, like hugging or playing pranks on those she grew fond of. Reflecting her nature, Vueloeluko and Belaf were the only ones she called by name in the story. She had a habit of making a "Shaaaan" sound when she was wary or surprised.
In Irumyuui's tribe, there was a strong emphasis on motherhood, with fertility being highly valued. Her mother was revered for bearing many children, and Irumyuui, as the only girl among her siblings, was cherished as a future mother of the tribe. However, after a medical examination revealed she couldn't bear children, her family and tribal members' attitudes drastically changed, and she was treated as useless and outcast.
Eventually, she was even slated for banishment to the Abyss as a burden. According to a tweet by original author Akihito Tsukushi, she chose to join the expeditionary team herself before being officially exiled. Initially, she could only speak her native tongue, but she learned the expeditionary team's language from Belaf. Her back was covered in old scars from abuse, and a tattoo, likely indicating her inability to bear children, was etched there.
After joining them, she grew fond of Vueloeluko, feeling a maternal connection, and Vueloeluko also came to cherish her. Together, they formed a unique, pseudo-parent-child relationship, compensating for each other's missing pieces.
"It's not a substitute. I want Vueloeluko..."
"I won't let you go... Irumyuui..."
The Ganja Expeditionary Team, after a grueling journey, reached the Sixth Layer of the Abyss. However, realizing the dangers of the curse of ascension and native creatures, they found it impossible to proceed further. Deciding to make this place their second home, Irumyuui lived with the team, enduring hardships but helping each other daily.
During this time, she, along with Vueloeluko, grew fond of Yadone, a docile native creature of the Sixth Layer. Sadly, this Yadone was preyed upon by another creature. Vueloeluko then made her a keepsake necklace from Yadone's bone or fangs, which Irumyuui wore ever after. However, Irumyuui and several other team members suddenly contracted a mysterious illness.
Investigation revealed that their drinking water was actually "Mimic Water," a native organism that camouflaged itself as water to parasitise hosts and spread its habitat. Irumyuui, infected by it, suffered from severe diarrhea and fever, and despite Vueloeluko's desperate nursing, her fever wouldn't break, and she rapidly weakened. Amidst this, a separate food procurement team returned in a horrific, altered state.
Among the deceased team members' belongings, an "artifact" was found, which the interference unit identified as the "Cradle of Desire," an egg that grants wishes. It stated that the artifact's effects were likely to manifest correctly when used by children, rather than complex adults. Vueloeluko hesitated upon seeing her transformed comrades, but Irumyuui's condition worsened immediately afterward.
Her left hand began to deform like molten steel, accompanied by excruciating pain. Witnessing Irumyuui's suffering, Vueloeluko resolved herself and pleaded with Wazukyan to use the "Cradle of Desire" on her. Upon receiving permission, the "Cradle of Desire" was used on Irumyuui. For a while, she seemed to recover, regaining her energy and ability to move.
...Or so it seemed. Irumyuui's pulse returned to normal, and she *appeared* to have recovered, yet her deformed left hand remained. The "Cradle of Desire" used on her was half-buried and assimilating into her chest, and the "recovered" Irumyuui couldn't remember what she had wished for. Vueloeluko and Belaf sensed a terrible change, as Irumyuui no longer felt pain or even hunger.
With no other recourse, they continued to monitor Irumyuui, but her body gradually began to transform. Large animal ears and folds of fur covering her body started to appear, and Irumyuui's body became semi-Narehate. After several days, Irumyuui's sudden cry echoed.
"Look... Vueloeluko..."
"See... see..."
"Baby..."
Vueloeluko rushed over and saw Irumyuui smiling, a trace of birthing pain on her face, as she gave birth to a "small animal-like thing" from the hole in her chest where the "Cradle of Desire" had been. However, this "baby" lacked digestive organs and weakened in Irumyuui's hands, unable to eat or drink, dying the next day. Irumyuui tearfully hugged the lifeless "baby," but she continued to give birth to a second, then a third "baby" from the hole in her chest, and they too were born and died. Each time, Irumyuui wept, overwhelmed by the sorrow of having her wish stolen, but eventually, Vueloeluko, who had been caring for and supporting her, also began to show symptoms of "Mimic Water."
The team members were served Irumyuui's children, whose flesh seemingly helped suppress the progression of the "Mimic Water" symptoms. Live children were more effective, so Wazukyan repeatedly took the newborns from Irumyuui immediately after their birth. By the time Vueloeluko recovered, Irumyuui had already lost her human form and the ability to speak. Yet, some emotions seemingly remained; she would lovingly embrace her newborn children, and when Wazukyan took them, she would let out a scream-like cry.
She even made comforting gestures, gently embracing Vueloeluko, who agonized over not being able to save her children and inadvertently participating in their consumption. As the days passed, with her children continually taken for survival, Irumyuui eventually stopped even screaming, though she had somehow come to be revered by the expeditionary team. Her form dramatically altered, she then moved towards the center of the layer.
The village itself, known as "Ilblu," was Irumyuui's transformed body, a Golden City born from the wishes of the expeditionary team. By consuming parts of her, the villagers gained eternal life as her extensions, and the village continued to exist by perpetually receiving value from them. From the "Cradle of Desire," her final wish brought forth a new life: Faputa. Irumyuui's consumed children had not forgotten their resentment towards the villagers. When Faputa eventually returned, they declared their intent to eradicate them, entrusting their lingering regrets to their youngest sister.
