Edrad Liones is an Arrancar with the rank of No.13 and serves as one of the Fracción under Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez. He is a very tall and muscular man with a striking hairstyle—half of his head is bald, and the other half has long hair, which is red in the anime. Even though he looks intimidating, he is calm, analyzes his opponent's strength carefully, and can be quite compassionate, not always wanting to utterly destroy his enemies. Edrad first shows his Resurrección ability in the story, fighting aggressively against Ikkaku Madarame in the human world. He can unleash great power, but is ultimately defeated when Ikkaku uses his Bankai. In his final moments, Edrad is glad to have learned his opponent's name before dying. Edrad and his group once reached an advanced Hollow state but could not evolve further, and it is suggested he became an Arrancar without losing that form.

Edrad was once a Hollow who evolved to the Adjuchas stage along with his friends.
He realized he could not evolve further and gave up on advancing.
Later, he became an Arrancar, possibly without regressing in rank.

On releasing his powers, the mask fragment disappears, and new fragments form around his ears.
His shoulders and arms become armored and much bigger.
He gains the ability to shoot fire from his shoulders.
His skin becomes extremely hard, making him much more dangerous in close combat.

This is a slap attack charged with spiritual energy that he uses before releasing his Resurrección.
It is strong enough to break Ikkaku Madarame’s teeth.
Battle in the Human World
Edrad travels to the human world together with Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez and other Fracción.
He faces Ikkaku Madarame in battle.
Edrad fights fiercely but also analyzes Ikkaku’s abilities.
When Ikkaku refuses to give up, Edrad releases his Resurrección, Volcánica, and presses his attack.
Final Clash
Ikkaku finally uses his Bankai, Ryūmon Hōzukimaru.
Both release their strongest powers and clash head-on.
Edrad is defeated when part of his body is blown away by Ikkaku’s final attack.
Edrad's Final Moments
Although defeated, Edrad is satisfied to know Ikkaku's name before dying.
Past Evolution
Edrad, along with his group, once evolved to the Adjuchas level.
He could not progress further and accepted this.
He became an Arrancar while still an Adjuchas.
Edrad serves under Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez as one of his loyal Fracción.
He is closely connected to other Arrancars such as Shawlong Kūfang.
Edrad is the first Arrancar to show Resurrección in the story.
Normally, wounds recover when an Arrancar uses Resurrección, but Edrad does not heal his injuries.
This may be because the healing effect was added to the story later.
The first time healing is mentioned in relation to Resurrección is much later, in the fight against Nnoitra Gilga.
