Akira Minami is the youngest son of another Minami family in Minami-ke, a timid first-year middle school boy who becomes involved with Kana Minami, Tōma Minami, and Fujioka through a series of misunderstandings.
Akira Minami is generally called Akira.
He is the third son of another Minami household and attends the same middle school as Kana Minami and Fujioka.
His voice actor is Tatsuya Hayama.
He first comes into contact with the Minami sisters after noticing that Tōma Minami has been coming home late more often since she started visiting their house.
Akira visits the Minami home to greet them, and that becomes the starting point of his connection with them.
From there, he gradually becomes part of their circle.
Akira is a gentle and very timid boy.
He is often overwhelmed by the stronger personalities around him.
Compared with his somewhat offbeat older brothers, he is the most sensible one.
Even so, he has a calm, absent-minded softness that makes him seem a little slow-paced.
He regularly thinks about how he might get a girlfriend.
At one point, he even writes the mysterious formula "pi = 2h" in his math notebook.
He seems to prefer girls with long hair, such as Haruka Minami and Riko.
Despite appearances, he has no romantic interest in Kana Minami.
Akira resembles Natsuki Minami in appearance.
However, Akira’s eyebrows slope downward more noticeably, giving him a more anxious and mild look.
Akira actually became close to Kana Minami because of the connection between Chiaki Minami and Tōma Minami.
However, because he knew nothing about the situation at first, he casually said that Kana was his type.
That remark helped create a misunderstanding in Fujioka’s mind about Akira’s relationship with Kana.
As a result, Fujioka grew jealous of him.
After Kana Minami explained that Fujioka was the school delinquent leader, Akira became deeply afraid of him.
Because of that fear, he once disguised himself in girls' clothing and pretended to be someone else in order to avoid Fujioka’s attention.
Later in the story, Akira’s relationship with Fujioka begins to change.
The original misunderstanding stops being treated as important, and although Akira still fears him, the two become close enough to talk on the phone and Akira even gives him advice.
The story never clearly explains whether the misunderstanding was fully resolved.
Even so, their interactions become much friendlier over time.
Akira’s biggest charm is the contrast between his ordinary common sense and his extreme nervousness.
He is the kind of character who gets dragged into chaos simply by being too meek to resist it.
His fear of Fujioka, his accidental role in a romantic misunderstanding, and even his cross-dressing attempt to escape trouble give him a memorable presence.
Though soft-spoken and cautious, he gradually becomes more connected to the people around him.
