She has long silver hair that reaches her waist and violet eyes.

Her voice sounds like little silver bells.

Emilia is a beautiful half-elf with long silver hair and purple-blue eyes. She wears a white and purple outfit along with a white flower in her hair. Although she appears to be in her late teens, Emilia's chronological age remains unknown, though mentally she has been stated to be in her early to mid-teens. She has styled her hair in a variety of ways, as per her contract with Puck, the Beast of the End was the one who arranged her hairstyle.

Though she rarely uses it in the present, for a time, she wore a white cloak with cat ears on the hood that had cognitive obstruction enchanted on it. She can be seen wearing this several times in the early arcs, to protect herself from the sands of the Augria Sand Dunes in Arc 6, and in Arc 7 to temporarily disguise herself.

At the end of Arc 4 during Subaru's knight ceremony, Emilia wore a white dress and a white mantle. The mantle had purple fur lining its edges, and the inside of it was also purple. She also wore a hairpiece that had a flower ornament on each side of her head. In Arc 5, she wore a yukata in the Water Plumage Inn, and after being taken by Regulus, she was made to wear a special wedding dress, though once the fight against him got underway, she ripped the dress at the legs for more freedom of movement. In Arc 6, her outfit is very reminiscent of Fortuna's.

When Emilia still lived in Elior Forest as a child, she had a different set of clothes with the same color pattern. She had a light green ribbon instead of her necklace, a different flower in her hair, and could be seen wearing a light-purple headband.

Emilia is gentle and always wants to help those in trouble.

She can’t ignore people who are suffering.

Even if she says it’s for herself, she usually acts for the good of others.

She tries to act mature and strong, but deep inside, she is innocent and pure.

She easily feels lonely and relies a lot on Pack, who is her spirit guardian and like a family to her.

Her awkwardness with other people, and the fact that she grew up away from society, make her a bit clueless.

She sometimes uses old-fashioned words and actions that don't match her age.

Also, she does not really understand romantic feelings or relationships yet.

Many call her a “problematic beauty” because she sticks to her beliefs, even if it causes trouble.

She is very bad at singing and making art.

Emilia was born between a human and an elf, making her a half-elf.

She spent most of her early life in Elior Forest, far away from others.

When she was little, she lost her family and, in her grief, froze the entire forest with her strong magic.

She then slept inside the ice for about 100 years.

Pack, a great spirit of fire, stayed by her side as her only family for a long time.

She is one of the five candidates for the next ruler of the Kingdom of Lugunica.

However, Emilia faces much hate because her appearance is like the Witch of Envy.

Emilia can use spirit arts and many types of magic.

She is a spirit user and has bonds with several spirits, but Pack is her main partner.

She is especially good with ice magic, using cold fire to freeze things.

She can handle a huge amount of mana, even more after she remembers her past.

Some of her magic skills are:

Icicle Line: Forms an icy barrier around her. Inside, she can make and shoot ice weapons like swords, spears, or arrows.

Ice Brand Arts: With this skill, she creates and throws many ice weapons or even objects like ice skates.

Cocytus: Makes a prison of ice.

Emilia also has great physical skills.

She can fight well with her hands and sometimes beats armed groups alone.

Pack: Pack is Emilia's guardian and like her family. She trusts him the most.

Subaru Natsuki: When Emilia first meets Subaru Natsuki, she uses the name "Satella," trying to protect him from trouble. Later, Subaru becomes someone Emilia deeply trusts and feels close to, though she does not fully understand love.

Fortuna: Fortuna is her aunt, who took care of her when she was young.

Other Spirits: Besides Pack, she has made pacts with other spirits.

Emilia claims to be good at cooking, drawing, and speed reading, but she easily gets emotional with stories and stops reading.

She loves brushing Pack's fur and studying.

She believes that kissing leads to having babies, showing her lack of knowledge about romance.

Emilia pays no attention to her looks or clothes, leaving those choices to Pack.

Her birthday is based on a real-life musician’s birthday.

Sometimes she says things that sound old-fashioned, which Subaru often teases her for.

In a special April Fools’ web story, she is a transfer student and acts just as airheaded as usual.

Many people dislike and fear her because she looks like the Witch of Envy, Satella.

Meeting Subaru

In the first story loop, she helps Subaru Natsuki, even when it puts herself at risk.

She uses Satella’s name to discourage Subaru from getting involved in trouble.

Frozen Past

Emilia spent around 100 years frozen in Elior Forest after her strong mana went out of control.

She did this after seeing her beloved aunt Fortuna killed by people from the Witch’s Cult, misled by Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti and the trickster Pandora.

When she was a child, she lived peacefully under Fortuna’s care until the cult attacked.

The anger and sadness made her magic explode, freezing the whole forest and everyone in it, even herself.

Pack hid these terrible memories from her to protect her heart.

Purpose for Becoming Queen

Emilia’s true reason to become ruler is to use the royal treasure, "Dragon’s Blood," to save her frozen friends and family in the forest.

Facing the Past

In Arc 4, during the “Sanctuary” trial, Emilia faces her old, hidden memories.

Pack ends his contract with her so she can regain her true memories and accept herself.

After passing the trial, she is able to use even more mana and stronger magic, sometimes relying on techniques she learned as a child.

Her personality becomes more honest, and she acts more like her real age, which her author describes as a charming but flawed beauty.

Emilia is the main heroine of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-.

She has won many fan votes and character rankings because of her beauty and kindness.

She won first place in the 2017 "MF Bunko J Heroine Contest in Melonbooks," and placed eighth in a major character poll.

Fans love her sweet yet stubborn personality, her struggles with the past, and her desire to help others.

Even though life is hard for Emilia, she still wishes for a happier life and never gives up.
