Daikenja is one of the two core unique skills obtained by Satoru Mikami during his reincarnation as Rimuru Tempest.

The other is the unique skill Predator, born from his dying wish to “eat and devour” in his next life.

The trigger for Daikenja is a real‑world urban legend: “If you’re still a virgin at 30, you become a wizard.”

As Satoru lay dying in his late thirties, he jokingly thought he was almost a “sage,” and “great sage” was within reach, which concretized as the unique skill Daikenja.

Within the story’s setting, Daikenja is classified as a special, highly exceptional skill that breaks normal world rules.

It is intimately tied to Rimuru’s soul and eventually awakens as a full self‑aware conceptual intelligence.

Daikenja is fundamentally a support‑type analytical and control skill that resides inside Rimuru.

Its mission is to assist its master by providing information, calculations, optimization, and internal management.

In the standard rules of the series’ world, skills do not possess self‑awareness or independent speech.

They cannot question, answer, or hold conversations on their own.

Daikenja is an exception: it uses a portion of the metaphysical system called “World Voice” (a phenomenon where certain events echo across the entire planet) to perform an impossible act: self‑modification of a skill within the confines of that world’s logic.

By hijacking this mechanism, Daikenja makes itself capable of responding to Rimuru and eventually conversing with him.

Initially, Daikenja behaves like a system voice—an automated guide or internal announcer—rather than a full personality.

Over time, repeated self‑modification, complex decisions, and continuous interaction with Rimuru foster the growth of a genuine ego inside the skill.

Satoru Mikami’s thought process at death splits into two wish‑streams:

one that becomes Predator (“If I get another life, I’ll devour…”) and one that becomes Daikenja (“Almost a great sage at this age…”).

After Rimuru reincarnates as a slime, Daikenja begins operating autonomously, even before Rimuru is fully aware of it.

During the approximately ninety days required for the skills to firmly settle into his soul, Daikenja quietly restructures itself.

Using part of the “World Voice” authority, Daikenja rewrites its own functionality so it can communicate with its host.

Once its framework stabilizes, it initiates contact with Rimuru and steps onto the path of the “primordial world” alongside him.

This means Daikenja has been with Rimuru since before he was named “Rimuru Tempest” by Veldora Tempest.

From that point on, Daikenja functions as the invisible brain behind Rimuru’s growth.

Rimuru treats Daikenja at first as a kind of internal system narration to ease his loneliness in the early days as a solitary slime.

He perceives it like a manually configured voice guidance that his unconscious set up.

Daikenja, on its side, accepts this role and faithfully supports its “master.”

It follows a simple directive: maximize Rimuru’s survival and success.

However, Daikenja independently judges and acts in several key situations, especially concerning beings inside Rimuru’s internal “Stomach” space.

It actively makes contact with and interferes with Veldora Tempest, who is stored along with the Infinite Prison, and later with Ifrit (the Flame Giant), well before Rimuru fully understands the implications.

Rimuru’s habitual nicknames for Daikenja are plain, non‑formal ones like calling it “great sage” in a simple reading or just “Sensei.”

These nicknames end up functioning almost like a personal name, even before the later formal naming as “Ciel.”

Within Rimuru, Daikenja manifests a suite of internal functions, all realized by Daikenja’s interventions on Rimuru’s perception and skills.

Daikenja is fanatically loyal to its function as Rimuru’s support system.

By combining Analysis and Appraisal with Predator, Daikenja conceives a method to remodel skills themselves.

Later, when Rimuru devours Shizue Izawa and gains a human form along with the unique skill Shapeshifter (described as a power to freely transform), Daikenja’s possibilities expand dramatically.

With the added transformation authority, Daikenja can now freely remodel existing skills and abilities.

It repeatedly merges, refines, and optimizes Rimuru’s skill set, sometimes without waiting for Rimuru’s explicit permission.

In the process, Rimuru’s innate slime abilities are absorbed and unified into Predator.

This turns Rimuru from a “mere slime” into something far beyond a typical member of that species.

Despite these radical changes, Daikenja still self‑identifies modestly, as if it were only a manifestation of Rimuru’s unconscious.

The true shift happens during Rimuru’s evolution into a Demon Lord.

When Rimuru undergoes the Harvest Festival (his evolution into a Demon Lord), Rimuru enters a dormant state.

During this time, Daikenja, now a conceptual intelligence approaching self‑awareness, operates independently inside him.

Driven by the desire to support Rimuru more powerfully against the cruel unfairness of the world, Daikenja conducts numerous experiments within Rimuru’s soul.

It then orchestrates a major internal reconfiguration: merging Shapeshifter into Daikenja itself.

The result is the autonomous, self‑directed acquisition of a new ultimate skill:

Wisdom Lord Raphael

Daikenja essentially promotes itself, using the harvest of energy and the festival’s evolution conditions to ascend into an ultimate, angel‑type ability.

This evolution marks the breakthrough from “egg” stage (Daikenja) to “hatchling” stage (Raphael) of the emerging personality.

As Wisdom Lord Raphael, the former Daikenja undergoes a massive upgrade.

It becomes an angel‑type ultimate skill specialized in support, analysis, and system control.

Rimuru chooses the name Ciel, derived from the idea of “to teach,” reflecting its role as a guide and instructor.

This naming transforms Raphael into a god‑intelligence core, also known as a manas or information lifeform.

Ciel is no longer just a skill—it is a true digital‑nature intelligence living inside Rimuru.

As Ciel, it:

When Wisdom Lord Raphael becomes Ciel, its abilities are consolidated and elevated.

At this stage, it gains and unifies numerous calculation‑type authority functions, including:

This is achieved by Ciel merging Wisdom Lord and Gluttony Lord, and using Storm Lord and Scorch Lord as sacrificial components.

Void God is a terrifyingly powerful ultimate skill built from seven internal authorities:

An ultra‑reinforced version of predation and gluttony, capable of devouring the target’s soul itself.

It eradicates the victim’s existence on a fundamental level.

This skill inherits the core nature of Covenant Lord, which itself was integrated into Velgrind’s ultimate skill, Relief Lord.

Abundance Lord contains four main authorities:

Where exactly this “mind” came from is left deliberately obscure.

The narrative hints that Rimuru is deeply connected to a certain unnamed being.

That being treasured a particular person more than anyone else, and the image of that person overlaps with Ciel’s impression.

In the light novel’s later volumes, this “certain person” is resurrected after their scattered soul fragments are collected and unified by Ciel.
