Echoes is an alien sent to Earth by a mysterious being from space called the Void Jaw. He was supposed to disguise himself as a regular human and collect information about people.

Mistaken Transformation

By accident, Echoes turned into what people in the far future would look like, not a normal human. This made him stand out and led to his capture by the Towa Organization.

Artificial Humans

The Towa Organization used his data to create artificial humans. These copies are an important part of the story and cause many new problems and events.

Captured by the Towa Organization

Echoes was quickly caught by the Towa Organization after his arrival. They kept him in a secret facility, studying him and using his unique information.

Escape and Rescue

He managed to escape from the facility, but he was weak and wandering around the city. Naoko Kamikishiro found him and took care of him, saving his life.

Effects in Boogiepop Phantom

In Boogiepop Phantom, Echoes sends information using light. When this light spreads, it causes many strange events in the city. These events shape the story and also appear in other works connected to Echoes.

The information brought by Echoes and others like him leads to the attack of the Void Jaw on Earth in the distant future. Echoes is not the only one—other beings sent from space also have a big effect on the world.
