Hulemy

Hulemy is described as a tall woman with an assertive presence. She fits the image of a tough engineer with a delinquent vibe, often intimidating those around her with her direct and unfiltered expressions.

Hulemy is exceptionally confident and outspoken, frequently using rough language. Her delinquent-style speech and use of "ore" instead of feminine pronouns immediately set her apart. She possesses remarkable courage, boldly confronting threats even when she's the one in danger. Although she lacks physical combat abilities, her intellect and curiosity drive her to engage in risky experiments, sometimes causing trouble for those around her. Beneath her strong exterior, she is a loyal and caring friend, especially to Lammis and their companions.

Hulemy lost her parents when her hometown was destroyed by monsters, sharing a painful past with Lammis. As a child, her experiments often caused trouble, planting the seeds for her future as a brilliant, if eccentric, magical tool engineer.

While Hulemy cannot fight physically, her real strength lies in her skills as a magical tool technician and her scientific approach to problems. Her outstanding analytical abilities allow her to assess complex magical technology rapidly, and she excels in conducting experiments and deciphering magical devices.

• Lammis: Childhood friend and fellow survivor from their destroyed hometown. The bond between Hulemy and Lammis is deep, rooted in their shared history and mutual trust.
• Boxxo: Hulemy was the first to realize that Boxxo contained a human soul. She forms a unique partnership with Boxxo, working together to escape dangerous situations and unravel mysteries.
• Suori: Hulemy supports Suori by joining magical tool exhibitions and providing critical technical assistance.
• Shui: Close ally and companion, with whom Hulemy shares key story moments.

Abduction by Bandits

At the story's outset, Hulemy goes missing, believed to be lost in the labyrinth. In reality, she was kidnapped by a bandit group, who locked her in their hideout to force her to research Boxxo and extract money from him.

Investigating Boxxo

Tasked with examining Boxxo, Hulemy interacts with him closely, steadily uncovering his features. She is the first to recognize that Boxxo houses a human soul. Her investigations are instrumental in making life in the bandit hideout more bearable by using the products Boxxo dispenses.

Rescue Operation

Lammis and the group eventually storm the hideout and successfully rescue both Hulemy and Boxxo. During the chaos, an explosion threatens to bury them under rubble, but Boxxo uses a protective barrier, powered by coins the bandits had hoarded. When oxygen runs low, Boxxo transforms into an oxygen vending machine to keep Hulemy alive, keeping the group safe until help arrives.

The Magic Tool Exhibition

At Suori's request, Hulemy participates in a magic tool exhibition. When an illegal humanoid magical tool, containing a trapped human soul, goes berserk, Hulemy quickly dissects its mechanism and succeeds in releasing the trapped soul, halting the rampage.

Exploring the Labyrinth

After the rescue, Hulemy joins the labyrinth exploration team as an investigator, using her skills to aid their journey. However, during the confrontation with the King of Souls in the Wailing of the Dead floor, she is captured and put into cardiac arrest by an electric shock. She is revived through teamwork: Boxxo’s AED function and Lammis’s chest compressions.

Special Anime Moment

In the anime adaptation, after being revived from near death following the battle with the King of Souls, Hulemy thanks Boxxo with a kiss—a sweet, original scene not found in the novel.
