My Ribdiculous Reincarnation is a Japanese light novel and television anime series by Antai, originally published on the user-generated fiction website Shosetsuka ni Naro from November 29, 2017, and adapted into an anime that began airing in April 2026.

The series is an isekai comedy built like a rapid-fire dialogue act, turning reincarnation clichés into meta-fictional jokes.

It won the 8th Net Novel Grand Prize in 2020 and was first published in book form by Takarajimasha in January 2021.

At its core, My Ribdiculous Reincarnation is a conversation-driven fantasy comedy.

Its style resembles an improv comedy prompt game, with short, punchy scenarios often inspired by reader-submitted ideas.

The premise is what makes it instantly memorable.

When asked what he wants to become after dying and being sent to another world, the protagonist calmly answers: the Hero's rib.

That single choice sets the tone for everything that follows.

Instead of chasing power fantasies, the story pokes fun at them with absurd precision and cheerful self-awareness.

A newly designed edition of the novel was released on April 2, 2026.

An anime adaptation premiered on Nippon TV on April 8, 2026.

After dying in the modern world, Ore arrives in a space where he is allowed to choose what he will be reincarnated as in another world.

However, the Goddess tells him that the most popular reincarnation options come with very long waiting times.

Rather than choose something flashy, Ore selects an unexpected destination: a rib belonging to the Hero.

He then fully enjoys life as a rib before returning to the Goddess's realm and searching for the next bizarre reincarnation option.

The result is less a standard quest story and more a chain of strange, witty encounters.

It treats reincarnation like a cosmic customer service counter, and that is very much the joke.

The original web novel began serialization on Shosetsuka ni Naro on November 29, 2017.

It has remained in serialization there.

The work received the 8th Net Novel Grand Prize in 2020.

Its first print edition was published by Takarajimasha on January 15, 2021.

A redesigned edition followed on April 2, 2026.

The novel was written by Antai, illustrated by Mebaru, with image illustrations by Copo.

Manga

A manga adaptation by Hidori has been planned.

Before the full launch, the first chapter was included in advance in the redesigned novel edition.

The television anime adaptation began broadcasting in April 2026.

It aired on Nippon TV and other stations.

One of the adaptation's standout features is its mixed-media approach.

Alongside regular animation, it also uses stop-motion, live-action segments, and puppet theater techniques.

That unusual production style matches the source material's chaotic comic energy.

The anime leans hard into experimentation instead of playing the premise straight.

Main Characters

Ore is voiced by Atsushi Abe.

He is the deadpan protagonist whose bizarre reincarnation requests drive the entire story.

Goddess is voiced by Mao Ichimichi.

She serves as the guide and straight-faced facilitator of Ore's ridiculous choices.

Master Sockeye Salmon is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa.

The name alone tells you this story is not aiming for ordinary fantasy dignity.

Tanaka-san is voiced by Toshihiko Seki.

He is one of the supporting figures who adds to the series' offbeat atmosphere.

God of Creation is voiced by Show Hayami.

His presence expands the absurd divine bureaucracy behind the reincarnation setup.

He is the Hero whose rib becomes one of the story's most unforgettable reincarnation targets.

What makes My Ribdiculous Reincarnation distinctive is not just its premise but its delivery.

The work turns the reincarnation genre inside out by treating every grand fantasy possibility as setup for a punch line.

Instead of epic world-building first, it builds comedy through timing, dialogue, and bizarre perspective shifts.

That gives it a theatrical, sketch-like rhythm that feels very different from standard fantasy adventures.

Its meta-fictional bent also helps it stand out.

Rather than pretending reincarnation is majestic, it treats it like an awkward menu of weird life choices, and somehow that makes the world even more entertaining.
