Reincarnated as a Sword is a Japanese light novel, manga, and anime franchise created by Yuu Tanaka, centering on a man who dies in a traffic accident and is reborn as a sentient sword in a fantasy world.

The series follows his partnership with Fran, a black cat beastgirl, and has spawned multiple manga adaptations, spin‑offs, webtoons, and a television anime whose second season is scheduled for 2026.

Reincarnated as a Sword began as a web novel on the user‑generated fiction site Shousetsuka ni Narou in September 2015.

It won the 4th Net Novel Grand Prize in 2016 and was later published in print by Micro Magazine under the GC Novels imprint with illustrations by Ruroo.

As of October 2024, the series has exceeded 3.8 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.

The franchise now includes the main light novel series, a primary manga adaptation, a spin‑off manga titled Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish, a full‑color webtoon retelling titled Reincarnated as a Sword Rev: The Black Cat Levels Up with the Strongest Sword, and a TV anime adaptation produced by studio C2C.

The story blends adventure, battle action, and isekai fantasy.

Its hook is that the protagonist is not reborn as a human, but as a talking, skill‑absorbing magic sword that dreams of being wielded by a cool swordswoman.

The unnamed protagonist dies in a traffic accident and finds himself reincarnated as a sword in another world.

He awakens stuck in a monster‑infested area known as the Magic Wolf Plains, quickly realizing he can float via telekinesis and gain skills by absorbing monster magic stones.

He spends his early days grinding monsters, collecting a huge number of combat and utility skills, all while dreaming of being used by a beautiful swordswoman.

One day, he lands in a strange area that absorbs magic from his blade, draining his power and trapping him in the ground, unable to move.

Time passes, and he begins to despair, until a young black cat beastgirl slave named Fran stumbles into the area while fleeing from a monster attack.

Desperate for survival, she pulls the blade free, gaining access to his immense power and quickly defeating the monsters that threatened her.

The sword and the girl form a contract: he will be Fran’s weapon and mentor, and she will wield him so that together they can become stronger.

Fran names him Teacher, and Teacher in turn vows to free Fran from slavery and help her achieve the impossible evolution of the black cat tribe, which has long been scorned as weak and incapable of evolving.

From there, the story follows the duo’s travels as adventurers.

They take quests, delve into dungeons, tangle with corrupt nobles and slavers, face demons and undead, and uncover secrets about cursed god‑swords and the world’s history, all while Teacher fusses over Fran like an overprotective dad and feeds her endless curry.

The world of Reincarnated as a Sword is a classic high‑fantasy setting with kingdoms, beastman nations, elven forests, and demon threats.

There is a formal adventurer guild system, monster danger ranks, and cities built around profitable dungeons.

Magic is skill‑based, and individuals gain skills and level up through combat and life experience.

Teacher is a unique “Intelligent Weapon” that can not only talk and act independently, but also absorb skills from monsters and then share those skills with his wielder.

Several nations are important to the story:

Kranzehl Kingdom: a human kingdom containing the fortress city of Alessa and the big trade cities Balbola and the dungeon city Ulmutt.

Filias Kingdom: a foreign monarchy whose prince and princess become involved with Fran after being captured by slavers.

Seedran Sea Nation: a maritime kingdom ruled by a tyrant king, rife with political intrigue and cruelty.

Beastman Nation: a country ruled by beastmen, including various beast tribes like the black cat, red cat, and dream tapir clans.

Dungeons, ancient research facilities, and cursed ruins often hide powerful monsters and mysterious relics.

Secret god‑swords, demonic contracts, and abandoned experiments all feed into the larger plot and worldbuilding.

Teacher and Fran’s Party

Teacher

Teacher is the main protagonist, a man reincarnated as a sentient sword after dying in a traffic accident.

As a blade, he has a small face on the sword, a handle above, and the tip below, and his human name and detailed past remain unknown.

He is classified as an “Intelligent Weapon,” able to think, speak, and act independently.

From the moment he appears in the Magic Wolf Plains, he has several built‑in skills and a unique ability to absorb skills and traits by shattering monster magic stones.

Teacher can float and move objects using telekinesis, allowing him to fight even without a wielder and even cook by levitating ingredients and utensils.

His goal before meeting Fran is to be wielded by a cool girl swordsman; afterward, his purpose becomes helping Fran grow, evolve, and live freely.

He can allocate earned “skill points” into the many abilities he acquires, upgrading some into superior “Superior” skills.

He boasts an absurd collection of combat, support, and daily life skills, including master‑level cooking, which leads to him popularizing curry, curry bread, katsudon, and other dishes in Fran’s world.

When Fran frees him from the magic‑draining ground, Teacher kills her former slave trader, breaks her slave contract, and pledges himself to her.

He cherishes Fran like a daughter and often thinks that he must have been reincarnated into this world specifically to protect her.

Fran

Fran is the main heroine, a young black cat beastgirl and former slave who becomes Teacher’s wielder.

She is around twelve years old, taciturn, gluttonous, loves baths, and fights as a magic swordsman.

The black cat tribe is considered weak and looked down upon, believed unable to evolve into a higher race.

Fran’s parents traveled seeking clues to evolution, but both died, leaving Fran alone until she was captured and enslaved for about four years.

While being transported to a town as a slave, Fran’s caravan is attacked by a Twin‑Head Bear in a dried‑up forest.

Desperately fleeing, she finds Teacher buried in the ground, pulls him free, and uses his power to annihilate the monster and survive.

With Teacher’s help, Fran is freed from slavery and registers as an adventurer, starting at rank G and quickly rising to rank D with her level jumping from 3 to 26.

By wielding Teacher, she can use his vast arsenal of skills and spells, effectively turning her into a walking magic arsenal who can attack twice at once: Teacher casts one spell while she casts another.

Despite heavily relying on Teacher, Fran is determined not to become complacent with borrowed power.

She actively seeks dangerous fights to improve, wanting to be strong enough to stand on her own.

Her personality is quiet but not emotionless.

She is sensitive to hostility and malice, responding mercilessly to those who insult the black cat tribe or threaten those she cares about, and she fiercely defends Teacher’s honor when anyone belittles him.

Fran loves meat in general, but Teacher’s curry completely steals her heart.

Asked to choose between mild, medium, and hot curry, she insists they are all equally delicious and refuses to pick a favorite.

Urushi

Urushi is a magic wolf and Teacher’s summoned familiar, effectively becoming Fran’s junior disciple.

Originally a unique Onyx Wolf that could wield darkness, poison, and death attributes, he evolves into a Darkness Wolf after Fran names him.

He is male and worships Fran and Teacher, playing the role of loyal companion.

Urushi is huge—around the size of a dairy cow—but in towns he can shrink to a large‑dog size to avoid causing panic.

He can hide inside shadows, making him ideal for stealth, scouting, and surprise attacks.

He oddly loves spicy food, and later, in the novels, evolves into an even mightier form called Ragna‑Rak Wolf, capable of changing from more than ten meters tall to puppy‑sized at will.

The Announcer

The Announcer is a disembodied female voice that explains skills and system messages to Teacher.

Teacher affectionately calls her “Announcer‑san,” and she functions like a built‑in guide to the world’s skill mechanics.

During a battle with the Death Lord in the manga’s eighth volume, she manifests inside Teacher’s consciousness with an angel‑like face and winged limbs.

She reveals that the “Announcer” presence Teacher hears is actually part of her ability, a lingering fragment of the discarded divine sword Chelubim’s power.

She can support both Teacher and Fran from the “rear line,” analyzing enemies and suggesting tactics.

Her existence hints at deep ties between Teacher and ancient divine weapons.

Mysterious Voice / Fenrir

At the moment of his reincarnation, Teacher hears a mysterious male voice speaking to him.

This voice belongs to Fenrir, the legendary magic beast whose existence gives the Magic Wolf Plains its name.

Fenrir’s spirit is sealed inside Teacher’s blade.

This connection implies that Teacher’s sword form and powers are not random but linked to ancient, powerful forces in the world.

Fortress City Alessa – Guild

Nell

Nell is a receptionist at the Alessa Adventurers Guild.

She appears gentle and polite, but internally she is a sharp‑tongued critic of crude or vulgar adventurers.

After some initial trouble during Fran’s guild registration, Nell takes a liking to her and becomes one of her allies in the guild.

Nell is also the one who tells Fran about the ten pillar gods of the world’s religion.

Donadrond

Donadrond is a male ogre‑type beastman and a rank C adventurer who acts as an examiner at the Alessa Guild.

At forty‑six years old and level thirty‑eight, he is a great warrior with a terrifying aura and a habit of accidentally releasing his Intimidation skill.

He administers Fran’s adventurer registration test and is stunned by her combination of swordplay and rapid‑fire magic.

Impressed, he passes her, later acting as a kind but strict senior who looks after rookie adventurers.

Klimt

Klimt is a wood elf, 136 years old and level sixty‑seven, and serves as Alessa’s guild master.

He is a master spirit user and carefully watches Fran, whose power seems too great for her age.

Because he does not initially know that Teacher exists, he assumes Fran herself is a prodigy or hiding some secret.

He uses spirits to keep track of her activities and assess the risks involved.

Furion

Furion is a wood elf guild investigator and Klimt’s nephew.

At forty‑nine years old and level twenty‑seven, he is a spirit user and the leader of the rank E party “Eye of the Forest.”

Furion is tasked with monitoring Fran under the pretext of a party promotion exam in the dungeon “Spider’s Nest.”

He is cautious but not malicious, and his motivations are more professional curiosity than hostility.

Heart‑Spirit Taluua

Heart‑Spirit Taluua is Furion’s guardian spirit, taking the form of an owl.

Taluua can speak with people and acts as a scout.

During the “Spider’s Nest” mission, Taluua secretly monitors Fran and reports her actions verbally to Klimt and Furion.

The spirit’s calm, observant nature contrasts with Furion’s anxiety about the dangerous dungeon.

Fortress City Alessa – Adventurers

Amanda

Amanda is a half‑elf rank A adventurer known as the “Ogress Mother.”

At fifty‑eight years old and level seventy, she is Alessa’s strongest adventurer and a human “strategic weapon” whose presence deters enemy nations from attempting to seize Alessa’s valuable dungeons.

She fights using a whip combined with storm magic, overwhelming enemies with long‑range control and explosive power.

Despite her terrifying strength, she loves children and runs an orphanage in Alessa, spoiling kids to a ridiculous degree.

Amanda dotes on Fran from the moment they meet, trying to make Fran call her “Mom” and giving her basic combat and skill theory lessons.

In a practice match, she completely outclasses Fran, showing just how large the gap is, even though she is amazed at how quickly Fran is catching up.

During a dangerous dungeon exploration, Amanda discovers Teacher’s true nature when he speaks to coordinate with her in battle.

She becomes one of the few people who know that Fran’s sword is an intelligent weapon.

Years earlier, Amanda helped raise Fran’s parents, Kinan and Flamea, who grew up in her orphanage and left to search for a way for black cats to evolve.

Fran met Amanda as a baby, making their bond deeper than Fran initially remembers.

In the parallel‑world spin‑off Another Wish, Amanda appears as a princess engaged to the cruel fourth prince Hamil, showing an alternate take on her character.

Eustace

Eustace is a rookie rank G adventurer.

Driven by overconfidence, he leads his party too deep into dangerous territory, causing them to be attacked by a goblin horde.

Fran intervenes and saves his party from being wiped out.

Grateful and shaken, Eustace reports the unusual goblin movements to the guild, which helps reveal a coming Goblin Stampede.

Crull

Crull is another rank G rookie adventurer and a member of Eustace’s party.

He shares in the shock of nearly dying and the gratitude toward Fran for saving their lives.

Lily

Lily is a rank G rookie and the female member of Eustace’s party.

She is saved along with the others and learns the hard way about the dangers of reckless exploration.

Elepent

Elepent is a dwarf warrior who leads a group of young adventurers.

He is responsible and acts as a field leader during investigations related to the goblin Stampede.

During the dungeon offensive, he teams up with Donadrond.

Originally an unnamed side character in the manga, he receives a proper name in the anime adaptation.

Cruise Riouselle

Cruise Riouselle is a “Flash Swordsman” and leader of the party “Azure Guardians.”

At twenty‑eight years old and level thirty‑three, he oversees the “Spider’s Nest” dungeon expedition and promotion exam.

Cruise serves as overall commander and examiner.

He takes note of Fran’s overwhelming performance and starts treating her more seriously despite her age.

Krad

Krad is a hot‑headed twenty‑three‑year‑old warrior and leader of the party “Dragon’s Roar,” all around rank E.

At level twenty, he resents seeing Fran promoted to rank D and repeatedly picks fights with her.

In a mock battle, Fran defeats Krad instantly and effortlessly.

Later, when his party faces death at the hands of the upper‑rank monster Trickster Spider and overwhelming spider hordes, Fran and Urushi save them, and a humbled Krad thanks Fran for rescuing his team.

Gennel

Gennel is a member of Krad’s party “Dragon’s Roar.”

He is poisoned by deadly spider toxins that normal antidotes cannot cure.

Fran uses advanced healing magic to save his life.

This incident further proves her power and deepens Krad’s gratitude.

Fortress City Alessa – Other Residents

Gallus

Gallus is an eighty‑two‑year‑old dwarf and a magic blacksmith, level thirty‑three.

He possesses the extra skill “Divine Eye,” which allows him to appraise weapons while ignoring concealment.

Using this ability, he realizes instantly that Teacher is an Intelligent Weapon.

Curious and excited, he befriends Fran and Teacher.

Gallus sells Fran a set of high‑quality gear originally commissioned by a client who died, offering it at a bargain.

He then crafts the “Black Cat Series,” Fran’s personal equipment, using rare materials supplied by Teacher.

He is known as an honorary craftsman of great repute.

Gallus’s creations become iconic to Fran’s identity.

Rufus

Rufus is a middle‑aged former adventurer and the owner of the general store “Saber Tiger.”

At forty‑one years old and level thirty, he is a graduate of Amanda’s orphanage and bears the title “Giant Slayer.”

Although he runs a general store, customers constantly mistake it for a weapon shop, to his annoyance.

Rufus occasionally supports Fran with supplies and advice.

Charlotte

Charlotte is a young woman who helps run Amanda’s orphanage.

She is a warrior who uses martial arts in battle and cares deeply for the children.

Randell

Randell is a traveling merchant Fran meets on the road to Alessa.

His caravan is attacked by goblins, and Fran saves him and his guards.

In gratitude, Randell gives Fran a ride to the city in his wagon.

He also explains the basics of monster threat ranks and adventurer ranks to her, helping orient her in the world.

Count Almes

Count Almes is August Allsand’s father.

Unlike his son, he is a proper gentleman and a responsible noble.

When August gravely insults royalty, the count becomes furious and places him under house arrest.

After August steals money and escapes, Count Almes requests the guild’s help in capturing him.

August Allsand

August Allsand is the count’s son and a thoroughly corrupt noble.

He buys a post as vice‑captain of Alessa’s knight order and is known for his hatred of adventurers.

At twenty‑nine years old and level thirty, August possesses the unique skill “Law of Falsehood,” which allows him to detect lies from others and make his own lies harder to discover.

He abuses this ability to fabricate crimes and arrest anyone he dislikes.

During the Goblin Stampede, he is ordered to send knights as reinforcements but refuses, showing his cowardice and disdain for adventurers.

Later, when Fran single‑handedly slays a Greater Demon and claims the magic stone and materials, August tries to have them confiscated by accusing her of lying.

The guild master exposes his refusal to send reinforcements and denies his demands.

At that moment, Teacher uses the Skill Taker ability to steal Law of Falsehood and August’s court etiquette skills.

Stripped of his deceit and refinement, August becomes incapable of lying convincingly and starts acting crudely.

He later humiliates royalty with vulgar behavior, causing his furious father to confine him, but he escapes with stolen money and continues his schemes.

Consumed by paranoia, August convinces himself that losing his skill is a curse from undead forces and irrationally blames Fran.

He later teams up with Gyuran and plots again, only to be captured by the guild master acting on Count Almes’s request.

Under interrogation, it is revealed that August has been colluding with the neighboring Raidos Kingdom to steal control of Alessa’s dungeon profits from the guild.

This exposes him as a traitor, not just a local nuisance.

Urs

Urs is the captain of the Alessa knight order.

In stark contrast to August, he is upright and just, caring about his knights and the city’s safety.

Gyuran

Gyuran is a blue cat beastman and a notorious criminal.

He carries the reputation of a “Thousand‑Slayer,” though this is largely exaggerated.

He has a skill that allows him to sense individuals whose level is higher than his own.

Gyuran’s clan historically tricked the black cat tribe, branding them as low‑status and repeatedly selling black cats to underground slave traders.

Anyone who resisted was murdered, and Gyuran continues this pattern of cruelty.

When Fran learns this, her rage erupts; she chops his body into pieces and ignores his begging before finishing him off.

Teacher stores Gyuran’s corpse as materials in his dimensional storage.

This grim fate symbolizes Fran’s vengeance on the oppressors of her people.

Lingerie Shop Owner

A lively woman runs a lingerie shop in Alessa.

One day she overhears Fran mutter that she does not need underwear while walking by.

Shocked, she drags Fran into her shop and lectures her on the importance of proper underwear.

With a mixture of enthusiasm and salesmanship, she successfully sells Fran her first proper lingerie.

Necromancy Research Facility

Jean du Vix

Jean du Vix is a forty‑nine‑year‑old demon race necromancer and rank B adventurer, level forty‑five.

He once led a vast undead army in a war, turning enemy corpses into soldiers and earning the chilling nickname “Massacre.”

Despite that reputation, he is a cheerful, boisterous, and highly rational researcher.

He lives in a remote region away from Alessa, operating a necromancy research facility.

Jean is as strong as a rank A adventurer and is sometimes forcibly recruited by Amanda to act as a substitute protector when she must leave Alessa.

He possesses the unique skill “Soul Eye,” which allows him to see souls and their properties.

Using Soul Eye, Jean quickly deduces that Teacher is an Intelligent Weapon.

This makes him one of the few non‑guild, non‑blacksmith characters aware of Teacher’s true identity.

Bernard

Bernard is a skeleton servant under Jean’s command.

He was built as a simple helper and is timid to the point of surrendering the moment Fran merely glares at him.

He is a comic relief presence, fearful and easily overwhelmed despite being undead.

He handles chores and basic tasks around the facility.

Serkan

Serkan is a spectral servant summoned by Jean to help disarm traps.

At level fourteen, he specializes in trap removal skills.

Serkan’s knowledge of mechanisms makes him invaluable in dangerous ruins.

His presence emphasizes Jean’s practical approach to necromancy.

Stefan

Stefan is Jean’s subordinate and a former minion of the Death Lord.

He was originally “Death Eater,” an undead entity that wandered aimlessly after its master’s fall.

By absorbing a skill called “Flying Spirit (Raise),” Stefan fuses with that power and evolves into his current form.

Unlike many undead, Stefan is surprisingly friendly and chatty.

Port Town Darse

Moggi

Moggi is a staff member at the Darse Adventurers Guild.

He is a burly, headband‑wearing older man who works at the reception desk.

He handles guild matters for Fran when she arrives in the port town.

His rough appearance hides a competent administrator who keeps the busy port guild running.

Key Figures

Lengil

Lengil is the captain of a large merchant ship operated by the prestigious Lucille Company, one of the top two merchant houses in the Kranzehl Kingdom.

He commands the vessel that carries Filias Kingdom’s prince and princess, along with other passengers.

Unfortunately, Lengil and his crew are arrested on fabricated charges by Dwight of the Seedran Sea Nation.

Dwight’s plan is to enslave them and profit from their sale.

Meccham

Meccham is a high‑ranking official in the Balbola Culinary Guild.

He is an elderly man with a stern face and piercing gaze, known for being hard to please.

He oversees the tasting and examination process for cooks who wish to register with the guild.

His approval is difficult to earn, but Teacher and Fran’s culinary innovations manage to impress him.

Colbert

Colbert is a thirty‑eight‑year‑old rank B adventurer, level forty‑one, known as the “Iron Claw.”

He is a martial artist and a senior disciple of the Demitris style, a renowned combat school.

He cares deeply about delicious food and seeks out Fran because he wants the meat of the powerful Sea Dragon Tuna that she hunted.

His gluttony and battle prowess make him both amusing and dangerous.

Gamd

Gamd is a dwarf and the guild master of the Balbola Adventurers Guild.

He is a retired rank A adventurer with the nickname “Dragon Fall.”

In his adventuring days, Gamd was part of the legendary party “Dragon Slayers,” alongside A‑rankers Eiworth, Dias, and Felmus.

He now manages the guild but retains a formidable presence and deep respect from adventurers.

Felmus

Felmus is another former rank A adventurer and a member of the Dragon Slayers, bearing the nickname “Dragon Hunter.”

He has retired from adventuring and now runs a restaurant called “Dragon Feast” in Balbola.

Felmus channels his passion into cooking, using his experience hunting mythical beasts to create unique dishes.

His restaurant is a prestigious place to eat, especially for those who appreciate monster cuisine.

Forlund Arnencourt

Forlund Arnencourt is a rank A adventurer known as “Hundred Blades.”

He holds the extra skill “Blessing of the Sword God.”

This ability allows him to create copies of any magic sword he has touched and control many magical blades at once in battle.

He is an extremely dangerous opponent and one of the few who can somewhat rival Teacher’s versatility.

Rank D Party “Scarlet Maidens”

In the web novel and manga, the rank D party “Scarlet Maidens” appears with slightly different introduction details, but the members are consistent.

They are all young women who work well as a balanced party.

Judith

Judith is the leader of the Scarlet Maidens.

She is twenty years old, a warrior, level twenty‑one, and acts as the party’s sturdy frontline.

Judith is serious and responsible, balancing the more lighthearted personalities in the group.

She respects strength and quickly recognizes Fran’s power.

Maya

Maya is a red dog beastgirl and the party’s scout.

At nineteen years old and level twenty‑three, she specializes in detection, tracking, and quick strikes.

She is energetic and playful, often teasing her party members.

Maya is fascinated by Urushi and Fran’s unusual fighting style.

Lydia

Lydia is an eighteen‑year‑old human mage, level twenty.

She provides magical support from the back line, wielding offensive and support spells.

Lydia is studious and careful, often acting as the “brain” of the party.

The Scarlet Maidens sometimes cross paths with Fran and learn from watching her in action.

Dias

Dias is the guild master of the Ulmutt Adventurers Guild and a former member of the Dragon Slayers.

At seventy‑one years old and level seventy‑six, he is a gentlemanly older man with white hair and a white beard, nicknamed “Dragon Turn.”

Dias is a master of illusionary magic and unconventional tactics, fighting as a “Phantom Trick Magician.”

He appears like a dandy noble but is crafty, experienced, and still extremely dangerous.

Elza (Baldish)

Elza, whose full name is Baldish, is a forty‑seven‑year‑old rank B adventurer, level fifty.

She is a “Diamond Fighter” who combines overwhelming physical strength with iron‑clad defenses.

Elza’s tough demeanor hides a reliable and protective nature.

She becomes familiar with Fran through guild events and dungeon expeditions in Ulmutt.

Fult Filias

Fult Filias is the prince of the Filias Kingdom and one of its royal heirs.

He is a twin, and his sister is Princess Satia.

In the port town of Darse, Fult and Satia are captured by underground slave traders and imprisoned in a harbor district.

Fran later becomes involved in rescuing them, entangling herself in Filias royal politics.

As a child, Fult and Satia performed a dangerous summoning ritual.

It escalated to the point where they stabbed each other with daggers, but both lost their memories of that day, hinting at a hidden demonic pact.

Duke Bune the Dragon Demon

Bune is a demon who serves as Fult’s contracted familiar.

He is one of the demons of the Divine Sword of Demons, appearing when his master’s life is in danger.

Despite his terrifying title “Dragon Demon Duke Bune,” he acts as Fult’s guardian.

His existence proves that Fult’s past ritual had real, lasting consequences.

Satia Filias

Satia Filias is the twin sister of Fult and a princess of the Filias Kingdom, also in the line of succession.

She likes Fran’s wild, beastlike scent and quickly becomes fond of her.

Like Fult, she has a demonic familiar tied to her past.

She was also involved in the mysterious childhood ritual that neither fully remembers.

Lady of the Poison Mist

The Lady of the Poison Mist is Satia’s contracted demon familiar.

She is another of the Divine Sword demons who manifests when her master’s life is threatened.

Her power centers on poison and deadly fog.

Her presence underscores how deeply entwined the Filias royal twins are with demonic forces.

Salute Orandi

Salute Orandi is officially the knight responsible for protecting Fult and Satia.

At fifty‑five years old and level thirty‑one, he is a Dark Knight.

In truth, Salute is a spy sent from the Raidos Kingdom’s Western March Duke family to infiltrate Filias.

He hopes to steal the power of the Divine Sword demons when the opportunity arises.

His duplicity makes him one of the more insidious human antagonists.

He underestimates Fran and Teacher, which proves to be a fatal mistake.

Serid

Serid is a servant who waits on Fult and Satia.

He is trained in the royal art of “Demon Torture,” which marks him as a demon possessor.

Serid trusts no one outside the royal family and behaves arrogantly.

Upon first meeting Fran, he calls her a filthy adventurer, infuriating Fult and Satia, yet he stubbornly refuses to apologize.

He does not trust Salute either, sensing something off about him.

Later, Serid is maimed by the knight commander Varuza, losing an arm and being thrown into the sea, but he survives and reunites with Fult and the others.

Royal Family and Allies

Cerimea Vermelio Seedran

Cerimea Vermelio Seedran is the first princess of the Seedran Sea Nation and sister to Miriam.

She opposes her tyrant brother, King Suarez, and continues a quiet resistance alongside loyal supporters.

Cerimea is intelligent and calculating, the political brain behind the resistance.

She sees Fran as a potential key to overturning the regime.

Miriam Seedran

Miriam is Cerimea’s younger sister and a “Predictive Fighter,” twenty years old.

She appears as a cheerful warrior woman and personally comes to free Fran and the Filias royals from prison.

Born to a concubine, Miriam is far from the front of the line of succession and thus chooses to serve as her sister’s sword instead of vying for the throne.

She belongs to the kingdom’s warrior corps and has the title of princess.

Miriam possesses the Strong Presence Detection skill, allowing her to sense powerful individuals.

As a child she was hot‑headed and loved fighting, a fact that embarrasses her whenever her sister brings it up.

Carla

Carla is a female subordinate of Miriam.

She supports the jailbreak and subsequent operations against Seedran forces.

Bike

Bike is another subordinate of Miriam, a man in military‑style equipment who loves the color green.

He operates as a practical soldier, following Miriam’s unconventional tactics.

Yorth

Yorth is a soldier of the Filias Kingdom and one of Salute’s men.

He joins Miriam’s team to rescue the Filias royals.

However, they are ambushed by Varuza, who kills Yorth.

His death underscores the brutality of Seedran’s elite knights.

Opponents

Suarez

Suarez is the king of the Seedran Sea Nation and the main human villain in that arc.

He is a cruel tyrant who exploits his people and crushes dissent.

Cerimea and Miriam despise him and work behind the scenes to undermine his rule.

Suarez relies on ruthless generals and corrupt officers to enforce his will.

General Julius

General Julius is Suarez’s uncle and close advisor.

He is the father of the knight commander Gladio.

He is a powerful political figure who backs Suarez’s oppressive policies.

Julius’s influence makes resistance in Seedran particularly dangerous.

Gladio

Gladio is Julius’s son and a cousin to Miriam.

He once attempted to rape Miriam when she was a child and continues to obsessively pursue her.

He repeatedly tries to sexually assault her even in adulthood, making him a deeply detestable character.

Gladio is a prime example of the rot within Seedran’s ruling elite.

Dwight

Dwight is an admiral in the Seedran Sea Nation’s navy and one of Suarez’s trusted subordinates.

He arrests Lengil, his crew, and the Filias royal delegation on fabricated charges, intending to enslave and sell them for profit.

Dwight is brutal toward anyone who resists, even ordering his subordinate Varuza to slaughter street children in the slums who helped the princesses.

This enrages Fran, who cuts Dwight’s body cleanly in half, killing him on the spot.

Varuza

Varuza is the commander of Seedran’s Dragon Fang Knight Order and a “Flash Swordsman” like Forlund.

He is known as “Black Fang Varuza,” level forty‑five, bearing titles such as Captain and Murderer.

Varuza wields the magic sword “Soul Eater,” forged by a disciple of a divine‑class blacksmith.

This cursed blade devours magic power and grows stronger through battle.

He kills for the thrill of sating his violent urges, but once he encounters Fran, he becomes obsessed with the idea of a pure one‑on‑one duel to the death.

In the end, satisfied by their final battle and refusing unnecessary killing, he dies content after crossing swords with her.

Garudi

Garudi is an envoy from the Raidos Kingdom.

He commands bands of blue cat beastmen and bears titles like “Pleasure Killer” and “Dark Slave Trader.”

Garudi enjoys cruelty and profits from the sale of beastman slaves.

He becomes one of the human faces of the slave trade that Fran and Teacher keep confronting.

Mea / Nemea Narasingha

Mea, formally Nemea Narasingha, is a princess of the Beastman Nation from the red cat tribe, with the rare “Golden Fire Lion” potential.

She has white hair and red eyes as an albino, standing out even among beastmen.
