The head of Sakai Town Academy and an authority in history. Although he is married, he currently lives separately from his wife, making his private life complex. Deeply impressed by the 400-year cycle hypothesis, he invited Kodai Arima to join Sakai Town Academy. Together with Kodai and Yurika, he conducts research and co-authors the work "LEGACY." At first, he falls behind Kodai and Yurika, but after encountering the academic theories of "her," his research advances significantly.
Two months prior to the beginning of the main story, he moves into a 400-year-old samurai residence. During this move, Kouzou Ryuuzouji is imprisoned by "her." She impersonates Kouzou Ryuuzouji and hires Kaori Asakura, plotting to have her steal crystallized super psychic stones from Geo-Technics. She is also tracking Kodai Arima’s whereabouts and instructs Atsushi Hojo to follow his trail. The real Kouzou Ryuuzouji, in his desperate quest for help, wanders the grounds of the samurai residence night after night, but his altered appearance leads people to mistake him for a wild beast or monster, fueling rumors of ghostly phenomena. Eventually, a corpse is discovered with its head and limbs missing, which is believed to be related to these supernatural rumors and is thought to be the cause of the ongoing disturbances around the samurai residence.
