The main heroine of this work is Kanade, a girl from the Cat Spirit Tribe. She is cheerful and has cat ears and a tail. Members of the Cat Spirit Tribe are not skilled at magic, but they excel in physical abilities and are adept at close combat.
Kanade can use her sharp intuition to discern others’ true intentions. When she is unsure whether someone is friendly or not, she relies on the intuition of her close friend, Rein Shroud, to make judgments.
She grew bored of her secluded life in the mountains and set out on a journey, but soon ran out of food and was attacked by monsters. At this moment, Rein Shroud comes to her rescue, and Kanade decides to join forces with her. Rein Shroud recognizes Kanade's talent as a Beast Tamer and forms a contract with her. Through this contract, Rein Shroud gains the ability of "Physical Ability Enhancement," granting her physical prowess equal to that of the Cat Spirit Tribe.
The Cat Spirit Tribe is an especially rare race, which often makes them targets for those seeking wealth or fame. As a result, Kanade was beginning to lose trust in humans. However, she is drawn to Rein Shroud’s pure goodwill, and starts to become aware of her as a romantic interest.
Her favorite food is fish, but she has difficulty dealing with ghosts, since physical attacks do not work on them. In the anime, there are scenes depicting her fear of ghosts running out of control, during which she loses all memory of the events.
