Ability: UNDEAD (Negator of “death”)
First Name Origin: “Andy” is a nickname given by Fuuko Izumo, derived from “Undead”
Voice Actor (Anime): Yuichi Nakamura
Andy is a muscular immortal warrior and one of the main protagonists of Undead Unluck.
He is the Negator of “death,” bearing the ability UNDEAD, which rejects any cause that would bring him closer to dying.
Tired of an endlessly long life, he actively seeks a way to die once and for all.
He becomes interested in Fuuko Izumo’s “Unluck” ability and joins the organization Union with her, hoping her misfortune can eventually kill him in the most spectacular way possible.
Within Union’s Round Table ranking, his seat number shifts from 10 to 9 after helping capture the UMA Clothes.
Despite his brutal fighting style, his personality blends roughness with surprising sincerity and gentlemanly behavior.
Andy is a tall, heavily muscled man with a tough “thug-like” face, light-colored (silver/ash) hair, and sharp blue eyes.
His hair is usually slicked back in an all-back style, which he carefully restores after regenerating, often leaving one small lock of hair falling over the center of his forehead.
A mysterious white card-shaped artifact is deeply embedded in the left side of his forehead.
From that wound, three scar-like lines spread, two of which run across his left eye, making that eye slightly more half-lidded than his right.
On his left chest he has a permanent bullet scar, and above it a tattoo reading “1865.”
On his left shoulder he has another tattoo: “DEAD END.”
Initially, he frequently ends up nude because his ability regenerates his body but not his clothes.
After subduing the UMA Clothes, he gains a suit that regenerates with him, which reduces (but does not eliminate) his “censorship-bar” moments.
When possessed by Clothes, Andy typically wears a suit in the Union style: jacket open, sleeves rolled up, large watch, and a tie with the Union emblem on the lapel.
When trying to pass among crowds or during undercover missions, he lets his hair fall down on the left side or fully down to hide the forehead card.
His visual impression to other characters is often “terrifying zombie-like muscleman,” especially early on when he chases Fuuko around half-naked.
Fuuko’s notes about him focus on how everything about him “looks painful” and how she wishes at least his pants would stay on.
At first glance, Andy is wild, violent, and crude, acting before thinking and charging straight into danger.
He loves a good fight, bloodshed does not faze him, and he actively throws himself into deadly situations because death is his ultimate goal.
Despite the barbaric exterior, he is straightforward, loyal, and emotionally honest.
When he realizes he is wrong, he apologizes plainly, and he treats women with surprising politeness and respect when he is not deliberately teasing them.
He lives by the motto of enjoying life to the fullest, even while longing for death.
As he travels, he happily indulges in local foods and drinks—vodka, hamburgers, bubble tea—treating his endless life as a world tour of experiences.
He strongly dislikes being called a “zombie,” angrily rejecting comparisons to rotting undead creatures.
His catchphrase, usually delivered with a ferocious grin, is: “Nice! This is the best!”
Over time, after joining Union and fighting alongside allies, he begins to use that phrase not only for dangerous death scenes but also to express genuine respect for people’s resolve and actions.
Despite being a death-seeker, he is emotionally moved by courage, sacrifice, and “cool” behavior, and he recognizes those moments in others.
Andy’s signature line reflects his 0-or-100 view of the world.
Having lived so long, he is rarely surprised; when something truly new or extreme happens, his emotions spike and the words come out naturally.
Early on, he often shouts this line when he walks into a situation that might finally kill him.
Later, he uses it as a form of praise for the bravery or spirit of his allies and enemies, smiling in admiration as much as excitement.
Because he has lived for centuries and refuses to quit anything halfway, Andy has accumulated a wide range of skills.
He is not merely a brute-force fighter; he is a highly adaptable, multi-talented veteran.
Known skills include:
Polyglot:
He can speak and understand multiple languages, including Japanese, Russian, English, and Chinese.
The Union standard equipment includes a red tie that auto-translates languages, but Andy barely needs this because he already understands many tongues.
Mercenary background:
He has extensive combat experience as a soldier-for-hire.
He can use a wide variety of firearms and heavy weapons: pistols, machine guns, Gatling guns, bazookas, grenades, and flashbangs, wielding them with “special forces commander” level proficiency.
Vehicle operation:
He can operate motorcycles (including sidecars, sometimes steering with his feet), boats and cruisers (even while drinking and fighting), fighter planes, and large trucks.
It is unclear whether he holds any official licenses, and he clearly does not care.
Swordsmanship:
He mastered a style of quick-draw swordsmanship called Moonlight Style Iaijutsu during a long stay in Japan.
In the present, he primarily fights with a katana forged by the Negator of “unbreakable.”
Combat acrobatics:
He uses five-point landing techniques learned during his mercenary days and incorporates them into his regeneration-based movement.
Hairdressing:
At some point he worked as a barber or stylist.
He handles scissors with professional technique and can give skillful haircuts despite saying it has been a while.
Comics and art fan:
He reads manga, including classics influenced by Osamu Tezuka.
He even tried drawing comics himself and shows a genuine interest in Fuuko’s favorite shoujo manga “To You, From Me,” praising it as “interesting.”
Impersonation:
He can mimic voices, including Fuuko’s and Juiz d’Arc’s, as shown in bonus comics.
Diving:
In extra material, he goes diving with Fuuko and Tatiana, suggesting he may have a diving license or at least the skills to handle it.
His core personality trait of “never quitting until he gets good at it” makes him an incredibly flexible problem-solver and fighter.
Forehead Card (Ancient Artifact “Remember”)
Andy has a small, white, card-like object embedded in the left side of his forehead.
This artifact, named Remember, is an ancient relic that manipulates memory.
According to Andy, his brain would go insane or “overflow” if he stored all his centuries of memories directly.
By driving Remember into his brain, he “plugs” his memories and keeps himself from losing his sanity.
The card has extraordinary durability.
It does not deform even when directly struck by a meteor, yet it is light enough for Fuuko to pick up with no effort.
Removing the card releases sealed memories and “someone” deep within those memories.
When it is pulled out, Andy experiences violent flashbacks and another personality’s true nature begins to surface.
Unbreakable Katana “Kurikara”
Andy wields a katana created by the Negator of UNBREAKABLE (the ability that denies “breaking”).
This sword, called Kurikara, is literally unbreakable: it never chips, bends, or dulls, no matter what absurd forces it endures.
It originally belonged to a pursuer working under the master swordsman Yusai.
After that pursuer’s death, the sword ended up stabbed into Andy’s body, and he simply started carrying and using it from then on.
The blade has a straight temper line and a guard decorated with heart-shaped cutouts.
The combination of an immortal body and an unbreakable sword allows Andy to use highly reckless techniques, such as stabbing the sword through his own body for instant sheath-and-draw moves.
Even though he regenerates, he still feels pain, and all of these self-stabbing techniques hurt.
He just treats the pain as “noise” and fights through it.
UMA Clothes
Clothes is a UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal) that governs the concept of “clothing.”
When possessing someone, Clothes can transform into whatever outfit the wearer desires and can charm and control people, making them its puppets.
Originally captured by Union, Clothes escaped and eventually encountered Andy and Fuuko.
Andy demanded totally unreasonable features: clothes that are “tough, regenerate no matter what, and come instantly when called.”
Clothes could not keep up with these demands and lost its shape, snapping in frustration.
After Andy mocked its designs as “uncool” and continued to push back, he eventually broke Clothes’ mental dominance and flipped the rule of “obedience” around.
Now, Clothes is attached to Andy as his living outfit and can shape-shift into a variety of forms: Union combat suit, wetsuit, life jacket, high school uniform, and more.
Despite having great regenerative speed, Clothes complains that Andy still leaves too much to “censor bars” simply because he does not prioritize staying covered.
Clothes has a personality and often manifests a face on the surface of Andy’s clothes to talk.
Its favorite food is balls of yarn, and feeding it may cause it to evolve into more advanced forms.
DB (Undead Unbreakable Bike)
DB is a bike designed and built by Nico Vorgeil, with parts crafted by the Negator of unbreakable.
Andy forgot to ask its official name and simply calls it UNDEAD UNBREAKABLE, or DB for short.
The bike’s frame is unbreakable, meaning it cannot be destroyed unless its internal systems malfunction.
DB includes an AI that allows for autopilot: if the registered rider moves too far away without warning and fails to return within 30 minutes, the bike automatically initiates a search.
DB can reach speeds of about 400 km/h in normal operation.
By using Andy’s blood as fuel and enhancement, its theoretical maximum approaches the speed of sound, although Nico comments that “friction would normally kill a human,” something that only an immortal rider can ignore.
Core Concept
Andy is the Negator of “death” with the ability UNDEAD.
This power forcibly prevents Andy from dying by rejecting any cause that would bring him closer to death.
He regenerates from any physical wound, including dismemberment, and he does not age because aging is also a factor that leads toward death.
His apparent physical age has frozen around his mid-20s despite him having lived at least two centuries.
UNDEAD is self-targeting and forced-activation: he cannot turn it off, and it always protects him from dying.
However, it does not automatically fix every kind of harm; the ability’s behavior is shaped by Andy’s own beliefs and understanding of what “leads to death.”
Regeneration Mechanics
Over countless battles, Andy has learned to manipulate his regeneration in creative ways.
Examples of what he can do include:
Move his body even when decapitated, as long as his head and neck region exist.
Use rapid regeneration as a propulsion system, launching himself or his body parts at high speed.
Control the degree of regeneration to grow bone blades from his stumps or to harden blood into weapons.
Andy feels pain, but the pain does not serve as a biological warning anymore.
He describes his pain as “nothing more than noise,” something he can ignore in favor of combat efficiency.
However, he is still vulnerable to certain particularly sensitive strikes, such as a hit to the groin, which made him double over despite his immortality.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Andy is immortal, but not invincible in combat.
His ability has key weaknesses:
Head-based regeneration:
He usually regenerates from his head, as his worldview defines the “head” as the center of life and thought.
If his head is captured and sealed in an unbreakable container, he cannot regenerate the rest of his body.
Burned tissue:
When his regenerating tissue is burned badly enough, the regeneration speed of that area drops significantly.
Non-lethal damage:
Injuries that do not bring him closer to death—such as dislocations or bruises without heavy bleeding—are not recognized as “death-threatening” and thus are not automatically repaired.
Because of these limitations, Andy recognizes that he is still “not strong enough” to face escalating threats and continues to seek ways to refine or expand his use of UNDEAD.
Later, as his perception changes, some of these limitations become less strict.
During a past stay in Japan, Andy became a disciple of a master swordsman and learned the Moonlight Style Iaijutsu, a form of quick-draw sword technique.
As the name implies, many of its moves are themed around the moon, and in Andy’s case they also incorporate blood motifs due to his ability.
He merges this sword style with his regeneration and blood manipulation to create hybrid techniques.
These techniques often feature crescent shapes, arcs of blood, and extreme speed powered by self-inflicted damage.
Parts Bullet
Andy’s basic ranged technique involves launching his own body parts as projectiles.
By partially severing a limb or finger, he forces regeneration to “push” the severed piece out, firing it like a shot.
Finger Bullet: He bites off a finger and fires it, easily piercing armored targets such as Void Volks’ head.
Hammer, Head, Forearms: He can adjust which part he launches—fists, head, entire arms—depending on the situation.
Head-launching can double as emergency evacuation: he fires his own head away from danger and regenerates the rest later.
These bullets combine physical mass, speed, and the strange durability of his regenerating body.
Repair Headbutt
This technique uses the force of rapid neck regeneration to power an explosive headbutt.
He bends or breaks his neck, then snaps it back into position with regeneration, slamming his forehead into the opponent with tremendous force.
A variant is firing his entire head as a projectile and using the collision as an impact attack.
It is crude but extremely powerful.
Crimson Bullet
Crimson Bullet is a high-tier version of Parts Bullet.
Andy gathers massive quantities of blood and calcium from missing body parts and compresses them into a single, dense projectile.
By unleashing this mass under extreme blood pressure, he creates a powerful, long-range sniper shot.
The payoff is huge, but so is the drawback: after firing Crimson Bullet, his regeneration slows drastically for a few minutes.
Repair Boost (Regeneration-Accelerated Draw)
Andy stabs Kurikara into his own arm, using his arm as the “sheath” for iaijutsu-style quick-draw.
Then, by timing his regeneration with his sword draw, he drastically amplifies the speed of his slash.
This combination of Moonlight Style and UNDEAD allows him to cut faster than a normal swordsman ever could.
It is both flashy and brutally painful, but highly effective.
Blood Jet (Blood Circuit)
By spraying blood from his wrists and ankles like thrusters, Andy propels himself through the air.
He can hover, dash, or change direction midair, and he often pairs this with his sword strikes.
Blood Circuit forms the basis for several of his blood-and-moon-themed slashes.
It effectively turns his whole body into a multi-directional jet engine.
Red Crescent
Red Crescent is his most frequently used sword technique.
He performs a diagonal slash while Blood Circuit propels him, coating the blade with blood.
To observers, the strike traces a blood-red crescent arc in the air.
It is a clean, powerful attack that embodies his Moonlight Style augmented by UNDEAD.
Red Cross
Red Cross is a cross-shaped double slash.
He has used this attack rarely on-page so far, such as during the battle against the UMA Spoil.
Red Full Moon
Red Full Moon is a wide-range attack that uses rotation and Blood Circuit.
By spinning and using his blood jets to widen his reach, Andy slices enemies around him in a circular pattern.
The trailing blood creates a full-moon-like arc around him.
It is both a crowd-control move and a visual centerpiece of his sword style.
During a battle involving the UMA Autumn, Andy experiences a “book world” created by Autumn’s ability.
There, he re-lives his life from another angle and meets Fuuko again, this time reshaping his worldview and self-understanding.
Fuuko changes how Andy thinks about life, death, and what it means to “exist.”
By accepting that people live by their souls as well as their bodies, and by re-framing his idea of “self,” Andy’s ability UNDEAD evolves dramatically.
He begins to:
Regenerate from parts other than his head.
Control blood and body structure much more freely.
Use his powers with less self-imposed limitation and more creativity.
This evolution brings him closer to the power level of his original self, Victor.
At the same time, it gives Andy his own unique fighting style and emotional strength.
Repair Glide
Andy twists his legs multiple times and then lets regeneration force them back to normal, using the untwisting as continuous propulsion.
This allows him to “skate” across the ground or walls, greatly increasing his mobility.
He can run along vertical surfaces and navigate complex environments far more smoothly.
It upgrades his entire close-quarters movement style.
Vortex Bullet
Vortex Bullet is a specialized Parts Bullet.
Andy twists his arm many times, then throws it so the unwinding rotation massively boosts its penetrating power.
The more twists, the stronger the bullet; at ten twists, it can pierce Victor’s regenerating torso.
A close-range variant, Vortex Fist, launches only the fist from point-blank range for a devastating impact.
Death Line, Death Blade, Death Road
These techniques are copies of Victor’s moves, collectively referred to as Dead Copy when Andy mimics them.
Death Blade, for Andy, manifests from his forearm instead of from a clenched fist as it does with Victor.
By imitating Victor’s techniques, Andy combines his own creativity with the original’s experience.
It is both homage and tactical adaptation.
Bloody Enchant (Blood Blade Enchantment)
Here Andy merges his old Repair Boost with Victor-like blood techniques.
He coats his sword in hardened blood, extending the blade and sharpening its edge.
This turns Kurikara into a longer, more lethal weapon with increased cutting power.
It upgrades his signature slashes into higher-tier forms:
Red Crimson Crescent: an enhanced version of Red Crescent with greater reach and strength.
Red Crimson Full Moon: a stronger form of Red Full Moon with wider and deadlier arcs.
Volcano Bullet
Volcano Bullet is a superior version of Crimson Bullet.
First conceived by Un Anno, who mimicked Andy’s arm, it involves loading even more blood and pressure into a finger-based Parts Bullet.
Andy grips the blood-loaded fingertip with his other hand to “choke” it, raising the pressure further.
When he fires, the resulting shot is like a blood volcano erupting through the target.
Bloody Arts (Blood Combat Style)
Bloody Arts is a close-quarters martial style powered by twisted joints and blood jets.
By twisting his limbs and releasing them while spraying blood from his elbows, he increases both speed and impact.
The style is improvised on the spot, not a formal style he trained in.
Kicks from this stance evolve into techniques like Vortex Kick, combining rotation with jet-assisted speed.
Radius Bone Pile
Andy dislocates the radius bone in his forearm at the elbow side and uses the dislocation recoil to shoot the bone outward.
The bone becomes a spontaneously fired spike, a surprise attack that can pierce opponents or objects.
Because he regenerates, he can repeatedly fire bones this way.
It is grotesque yet extremely practical.
Repair Boost: Spine Sheath
In this extreme variant of Repair Boost, Andy uses his spine as the sheath for Kurikara.
He stabs the blade vertically along his backbone, then draws it in a vertical arc using regeneration to maximize speed.
This sets up one of his most dangerous slashes.
Great Crimson Crescent
Great Crimson Crescent is Andy’s fastest slash.
Using the Spine Sheath setup and Blood Enchant, he releases a huge, extended blade of blood-hardened energy in a vertical sweep.
The range and speed are so great that even Billy Alfred, prepared with the Negator ability of “unchanging,” is forced to use his power defensively to stop it.
When the unchanging ability is applied directly to the blade, the move becomes Great Crimson Unchanging Crescent, which can even bisect a phase-three UMA such as Spring.
Death Shadow
Death Shadow is essentially an Andy-shaped scab—his entire outer skin and blood layer shed at once.
By preparing this “shell” and leaving it behind, he can appear to be immobilized, then step out of the shell to attack from behind.
It is used as a counter to abilities that freeze or fix a “target” in place.
The trick is that the target is only the discarded layer, not Andy’s true active body.
Dead Quartet
In Dead Quartet, Andy splits his body into four separate components: bone, skin, blood, and muscle.
His soul controls all four, which can move independently.
They are named:
Bone Andy
Skin Andy
Blood Andy
Muscle Andy
Because each part is crude and lacks fine control, the technique is situational and requires a suitable battlefield setup.
When used correctly, it overwhelms enemies through bizarre, multi-directional assaults.
Unluck Bullet
Unluck Bullet is the ultimate cooperative move between Andy’s UNDEAD and Fuuko’s UNLUCK.
In the past, Unluck could only be used via self-sacrificial contact, leading to suicidal gambits.
After changing his worldview, Andy realizes that Unluck acts on the soul of whoever touches Fuuko.
He then splits a large portion of his soul and loads it into his finger, turning his Parts Bullet into a “soul projectile.”
The bullet autonomously homes in on its target and, upon impact, transfers Unluck to them, triggering massive misfortune.
He can also combine Unluck with Volcano Bullet or Death Road, creating long-range, soul-guided disaster attacks.
Unluck Bullet embodies the difference between Andy and Victor:
Victor cannot wield Unluck, while Andy can integrate it with UNDEAD through his new understanding of souls and value.
Silver Fine Moon
Silver Fine Moon is a soul-infused sword technique.
Andy places his soul into his sword, allowing his slashes to strike not only physical bodies but also spiritual entities.
This technique is especially effective against enemies like the UMA Ghost and hosts it possesses.
He uses Silver Fine Moon to cut down both the ghost and the possessed target, cleansing them at the soul level.
Andy’s earliest memory is clawing his way out of a grave where he had been buried as a fallen soldier.
From that moment on, he wandered battlefields, learning through experience that he possessed combat knowledge and an inability to die.
As his comrades aged and died around him, Andy remained immortal.
He felt guilt for surviving when others did not, loneliness from watching friends pass away, and terror at the realization that his life had no natural end.
Around fifty years before the main story, he offered himself to Nico Vorgeil as an experimental subject.
No matter what Nico did, Andy could not die, which eventually made him give up on suicide as an escape from his suffering.
Instead, he used self-harm as a way to “feel alive,” using pain to reassure himself of his existence.
It was within this state of twisted survival that he encountered Fuuko, whose Unluck presented a new possibility: a meaningful, shared end.
In truth, Andy is not the original personality of his body.
The real original is Victor, an ancient immortal who fought alongside Juiz d’Arc across countless loops in an attempt to kill God.
After around 99 loops of failing to defeat God, Juiz was driven by despair.
She sought the ancient artifact Remember, determined either to reclaim their comrades’ memories or to erase them and end the suffering.
Remember offers a choice once per loop:
“Continue” by restoring memories, or “Reset” by sealing them away and losing those bonds.
When Juiz finally seized Remember, Victor lashed out with his blood blade to kill her.
He wanted to prevent her from giving herself false hope and to free her from endless suffering by ending her life.
Victor did not care about his own inability to die.
All he wanted was for Juiz to escape the curse of looping and live a life free from the burden of his immortality.
Juiz, seeing his desperation, activated her ability Unjustice to freeze his actions.
In that moment, she stabbed Remember into Victor’s forehead.
Her intention was to store or reset his memories over countless billions of years until he could meet a new hope.
By doing so, she excluded Victor’s regenerative ability from Remember’s effect, causing the power to generate a new personality—the one we know as Andy.
Andy is therefore a separate personality born from Victor, created by Remember’s memory manipulation.
He possesses Victor’s body and ability but none of Victor’s original memories or emotional scars.
The number “1865” on his chest likely marks his earliest remembered year as Andy.
If taken as a “birth year” for the Andy persona, he would be about 155 years old at the time of the main story’s events.
When Andy learns from Juiz about his true nature as Victor’s derivative personality, he reflects on his entire existence.
He realizes that his first memories came after digging out of a grave and that everything he has lived through has been a second life grafted onto an ancient body.
He recalls fighting, losing comrades, wandering wars, and suffering under the burden of immortality.
He also remembers meeting Fuuko and, through her, discovering a hopeful way to use his immortality instead of just resenting it.
Recognizing that Victor and Juiz created the conditions for his birth, Andy thanks them.
He acknowledges that being made immortal allowed him to meet Fuuko, and that meeting Fuuko gave meaning to his unending life.
He tells Juiz to watch what becomes of the “suffering” she created by giving birth to him.
He also promises that she will see not only his pain but also the joy he found with Fuuko.
With this acceptance, Andy stops viewing UNDEAD as a curse to be rejected.
He begins to see it as a power that can protect, connect, and eventually help fulfill the larger goal of defeating God.
When the time comes to reset the world again, Andy chooses to move forward toward the next loop.
Now, instead of seeking only death, he fights as someone who has found a partner—Fuuko Izumo—who can endure time and fate alongside him.
