Flora is a pharmacologist and fermentation specialist in Farming Life in Another World, a cousin of Rurushi Ru and a resident of Big Tree Village. She is renowned as the “Queen of Fermented Foods” and serves the community as a dedicated healer.
She is a beautiful woman with silver hair cut to around neck length and a slender build. She favors form-fitting dresses that accentuate her graceful silhouette.
She is intensely research-driven and easily loses herself in her work, to the point of turning her lab shed into a living space. Despite her zeal, she is considerate and community-minded, choosing healing duty over glory to support others’ well-being.
She is Rurushi Ru’s cousin and was already fairly well-known across the world as an authority in pharmacology before moving to Big Tree Village. After learning about microbes from Hiraku Machio, she expanded into food fermentation and rose to prominence as the village’s master of miso and soy sauce.
She is an accomplished pharmacologist and researcher with practical mastery over fermentation. She can use healing magic and has combat ability strong enough to qualify for the knights’ division of the Martial Arts Tournament, but she deliberately focuses on medical support.
Rurushi Ru: Cousin and co-researcher with whom she studies medicines.
Hiraku Machio: Benefactor who taught her the concept of microbes and provided facilities, later renovating and isolating her lab due to odor issues.
Ann and Lamulias: She relocated her lab during their second pregnancies to avoid any adverse effects from fermentation odors.
Yoru and the Lion family: Managers and guards of the hot spring area who escalated a complaint about the extreme stench from her fish fermentation experiments.
Kuro and his pack: Wolves who attacked her upon arrival, leading to her first encounter with Hiraku.
Big Tree Village community: She supports the village annually as a healer during the Martial Arts Tournament.
Her initial lab inside Hiraku’s mansion was sealed after renovations because the fermentation smells became a problem.
A dedicated, isolated shed was built for her research, which she furnished and moved into, leaving her private room in the mansion unused.
Her experiments with fish-based fermentation at the hot spring area produced a stench so powerful it prompted a formal request for intervention.
She steadfastly serves as the tournament’s healing staff every year despite having the strength to compete.
“At least one person should devote herself to healing magic.”
Arrival at Big Tree Village (Year 5, late spring)
She came to Big Tree Village searching for Rurushi Ru. While being attacked by Kuro and his pack—much like what had happened to Rurushi Ru—she met Hiraku Machio.
She stayed for about ten days, then prepared to relocate, and settled in the village before winter.
Research and Recognition
Already fairly famous as an authority in pharmacology, she began joint medicinal research with Rurushi Ru upon moving in. After Hiraku introduced her to the concept of microbes, she started brewing miso and soy sauce and eventually earned the title “Queen of Fermented Foods.”
Laboratory, Smell Issues, and Isolation
Her laboratory was initially inside Hiraku’s mansion, but the odors inherent to fermentation became a serious issue. After the mansion’s renovation, that room was sealed, and a dedicated, isolated shed was built as her new lab.
Immersed in her work, she brought in furniture and began living in the shed, leaving her private room in the mansion unused.
Relocation to the Hot Spring Area (around Year 18)
When Ann and Lamulias were pregnant with their second children, she temporarily moved her lab to the hot spring area to keep strong odors away from them. There she pursued fish-based fermentation, inadvertently producing an even stronger stench than before.
The situation led Yoru and the Lion family, who managed and guarded the area, to submit a request to Big Tree Village to address the problem.
Martial Arts Tournament Role
Though capable of competing in the knights’ division, she declines to enter. She participates every year as the healer instead, dedicating herself to healing magic.
Alias: Queen of Fermented Foods.
Residence: Big Tree Village; primarily lives in her isolated research shed.
Occupation: Pharmacologist, fermentation researcher, healer.
