Luke Sykol is a level 6 hunter and swordsman known by the official epithet “Thousand Blades,” appearing in the series “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”.
He is a disciple of a Sword Saint, a member of the Grieving Soul party led by Krai Andrey, and a self-proclaimed “Absolute Divine Blade.”
Name: Luke Sykol
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Occupation: Hunter
Hunter Level: 6
Official Title: “Thousand Blades”
Self-Proclaimed Title: “Absolute Divine Blade”
Affiliation: Party led by Krai Andrey (Grieving Soul)

Luke is overwhelmingly passionate about the sword, to a point that borders on obsession.
He views almost everything in life through the lens of “can I cut this or not?”, and his decisions often follow that simple logic.
He is a genuine battle maniac, especially when it comes to swordfights.
For him, fighting is not a hobby but a way of life, and every encounter becomes part of his training.
Although he has just enough restraint not to freely cut down other humans, he is still considered extremely dangerous.
His only real “moral filter” is whether the opponent is a legitimate combatant, preferably a strong warrior and ideally another swordsman.
Luke has studied and mastered numerous sword schools and styles from across the setting.
Even so, he felt unsatisfied and developed his own unique style, which he calls the “Elegant Wind Sword.”
His actions are thoroughly sword-centric, and he treats any worthy opponent or threat as a target to be cut.
He charges without hesitation at enemies he classifies as “okay to cut,” such as phantoms, illusions, and magical beasts.
Luke’s training never stops; he turns every situation into an opportunity for improvement.
Daily life, missions, tournaments, and even life-or-death battles are all, in his mind, just forms of sword practice.
Despite his obvious combat ability, Luke is only level 6.
This low official level is not due to lack of strength, but because his everyday behavior is considered far too problematic.
He is barely tolerated in civilized society because he usually refrains from cutting “ordinary people.”
However, that restraint depends on several conditions: the target must be willing to fight, must be strong, and—if possible—should be a swordsman.
Because of this, people around him see him as a walking hazard.
His party and allies constantly need to manage and restrain him so that he does not cause incidents.
Luke is the one who pushed Krai Andrey into becoming the party leader.
In other words, Krai’s current position is largely Luke’s fault, or achievement, depending on the point of view.
Krai also acts as Luke’s primary limiter and handler.
Under Krai’s orders, Luke is normally forbidden from carrying a real sword and is forced to use a wooden sword instead.
Even with a wooden sword, Luke is absurdly dangerous.
He can clash evenly with real blades and can “cut” with a wooden sword as if it were an actual, sharpened weapon.
Luke once challenged the boss of the level 8 treasure hall known as the “Castle of Ten Thousand Demons,” a powerful swordsman.
In their first duel he was completely defeated, but he refused to leave until he could win, and eventually defeated the boss one-on-one and cleared the dungeon.
During the grand martial event known as the Martial Emperor Festival, Luke treated battles against a lineup of notorious criminals as mere warm-up practice.
He enjoyed these deadly matches with a casual, almost playful attitude, seeing them as just another training opportunity.
In the tenth part of the story, he faced vengeful spirits that should not be physically cut.
Instead of backing off, he saw it as “a chance to acquire a spirit sword” and relentlessly attempted to cut them regardless of normal physical limits.
By default, Luke carries a wooden sword due to Krai’s strict prohibition on real blades.
This restriction exists purely for safety, as Luke is perfectly willing to escalate any situation into a swordfight.
The wooden sword, however, is not much of a handicap for him.
He can trade blows with steel blades using wood, and his strikes are sharp enough in technique to “cut” despite lacking an edge.
If given an actual sword without supervision, Luke becomes even more terrifying.
His lethal potential scales dramatically, and his lack of restraint toward “valid targets” makes him a near-uncontrollable force.
