Julius Reinberg is introduced as one of Regarden Magic Academy’s elite sixth-year students.

He is firmly considered a guaranteed member of the future “Upper House,” the ruling class of top-ranked mages.

He specializes in ice magic and is widely regarded as a genius.

Even the advanced, original magic of Elfaria Albis Serfort—known as the Ice Princess—can be invoked by Julius, albeit in an incomplete form.

He aims to become Elfaria Albis Serfort’s successor.

When he later learns that her high-level spell was invented when she was only two years old, he is badly shaken despite his pride.

Julius’s personality is arrogant, cynical, and overtly narcissistic.

He looks down on anyone he considers inferior, and his cutting remarks make him a “love-to-hate” type of character.

Among his peers, he has a particularly antagonistic, dog-and-cat relationship with the fire-element prodigy Sion Ulster.

The two often clash, both in power and in attitude, representing rival ice and fire talents within their year.

On the surface, Julius is obnoxiously smug and dismissive.

He mocks “weaklings,” flaunts his superiority, and seems to genuinely enjoy belittling others.

He holds an especially contemptuous view of Will Serfort, who is unable to use magic.

To Julius, a mage without magic is the ultimate contradiction, and he treats Will as a walking joke.

However, this abrasive front hides a very different original nature.

As a child, Julius was kind, gentle, and naturally caring toward others.

His personality became twisted after his first love ended in quiet heartbreak.

He fell in love with the maid who served in his household, an older woman far beyond him in age, which was never realistically possible.

After that one-sided first love failed, Julius began to “play the villain” as a coping mechanism.

He adopted a bad-boy, sneering persona that gradually calcified into the arrogant attitude he shows at the academy.

Deep down, his compassionate side never disappeared.

Through his repeated encounters with Will Serfort, that hidden warmth slowly starts resurfacing.

As he spends more time around Will, Julius finds himself helping, advising, and backing him up.

Although he never drops his sharp tongue and still hurls insults, his actions increasingly show genuine concern and loyalty.

Eventually, Julius and Will reach the point where they can be called friends.

Their dynamic is built on mutual growth: Julius challenges Will’s limits, and Will unintentionally drags Julius’s better nature back into the light.

Julius is one of the strongest students at Regarden Magic Academy.

Within his year, he is considered part of the “Top Three,” standing at the summit of student mages.

He specializes in ice-element magic, excelling in both lower- and mid-tier spells.

His control, precision, and power have made him a central figure in the Ice Faction.

Julius is the first mage ever to successfully (even if imperfectly) activate Elfaria’s original spell, the First Law: “White Art (Ars Weiss).”

This spell is a legendary ice magic created by Elfaria, also called the Ice Princess, and is known to be brutally difficult to master.

Many powerful mages before him attempted to use White Art and failed, giving up in frustration.

Julius, despite only reaching a rudimentary, incomplete form of it, broke that barrier and proved his exceptional potential.

Because of this, the Ice Faction sees Julius as the most promising candidate to inherit Elfaria’s mantle.

His title as would-be heir of the Ice Princess greatly shapes both his ambitions and the expectations placed upon him.

Later, after graduating and joining the Tower, Julius also makes use of anti-mage equipment.

Notably, he wields the “Anti-Slime” (Anti-Sleim) gear, specifically designed to counter the magic-negating field called “Demonic Hunting Ground” (Sleim Magran).

At Regarden Magic Academy

Julius is already a top student when the story begins.

His reputation as a genius and as a rude, intolerable noble of ice precedes him.

The pivotal early clash comes right before the Mage Festival.

Julius encounters Will Serfort at Will’s part-time workplace, a dwarven-run shop and tavern.

Seeing a non-mage like Will, as well as the dwarves working there, Julius openly mocks them.

He derides Will’s inability to use magic and sneers at the dwarves’ line of work and status.

This leads to a public conflict of pride.

Julius stakes his honor on Will’s expulsion from the academy, while Will demands Julius’s apology if he wins.

They agree to settle the matter through competition at the upcoming Mage Festival.

Despite Julius’s overwhelming magical power, the battle does not go as he expects.

Will, who has meticulously studied the flaws and loopholes of magic, exploits the structural weaknesses in Julius’s spellcasting.

Using his knowledge, creativity, and physical prowess, Will manages to overcome Julius in direct confrontation.

Julius, the self-proclaimed superior, is defeated by someone who cannot even use magic.

This loss shakes his pride but also plants the seeds of a grudging respect.

Keeping his promise, Julius begins working part-time at the dwarves’ tavern, washing dishes as a form of apology.

This humiliating yet honest gesture marks the beginning of his gradual change and his complicated bond with Will.

After Graduation: Tower and the Ice Faction

After graduating from the academy, Julius becomes a high-ranking mage.

He is officially assigned to the Ice Faction within the Tower, the central organization of mages.

Together with his former classmates, he is tasked with tracking down and opposing the shadowy group known as Book of Ruin.

The Book of Ruin is responsible for insidious plots, including attempts to corrupt or control other mages.

During his time with the Ice Faction, Julius takes on internal investigation duties.

While acting as an informant and investigator, he notices something is gravely wrong with his childhood friend Emma Klever.

Emma, it turns out, has fallen under the control of Shade, a manipulative enemy agent.

Before Julius can fully respond or escape, Emma—while under Shade’s influence—attacks him.

Julius is gravely wounded and apparently killed by Emma’s hand.

His body is later found in a condition suggesting his death is genuine.

However, Will Serfort, upon seeing the corpse, notices that something is off.

He identifies traces indicating that the body is actually a fake, constructed and disguised using White Art (Ars Weiss).

In reality, Julius barely survived Emma’s assault, left on the brink of death.

He is rescued just in time by the arrival of Iris X. Stellamaris and her allies.

Thanks to their swift healing magic and medical care, Julius narrowly escapes death.

His recovery, however, is kept secret.

The executives of the Ice Faction decide to conceal Julius’s survival from the public and most other mages.

From then on, Julius operates covertly as a hidden countermeasure against the Book of Ruin’s machinations.

The Tower Terror Incident and Julius’s Return

The Book of Ruin eventually launches a full-scale plan to bring down the Tower itself.

Their operation triggers massive acts of terrorism and fierce battles on the First Floor Section of the Tower.

As part of their strategy, they activate a special magical formation: “Demonic Hunting Ground (Sleim Magran).”

This is a large-scale barrier that nullifies the activation of magic, effectively turning the battlefield into a killing ground for mages.

With their spells blocked, the gathered mages find themselves in deadly danger, unable to use their main source of power.

Panic and confusion spread as even top-level mages become nearly helpless.

It is at this desperate moment that Julius reveals himself, returning dramatically from presumed death.

Still aligned with the Ice Faction, he steps into the battlefield as a secret trump card.

Julius is equipped with “Anti-Slime” (Anti-Sleim), an anti–mage-killer armament designed specifically to counter Sleim Magran.

Using this gear, he is able to fight effectively despite the magic-nullifying field.

His intervention turns the tide of battle.

By neutralizing the “mage killer” setup, he helps restore the mages’ fighting chances and plays a key role in repelling the Book of Ruin’s assault on the Tower.

Throughout this crisis, Julius proves that he is far more than just a smug genius from school days.

He shows courage, loyalty, and a willingness to risk his life for the Tower, his allies, and the future of magic.

Will Serfort

Will Serfort starts as the person Julius despises the most.

To Julius, Will’s inability to use magic is the ultimate symbol of worthlessness in a mage-dominated world.

Their rivalry begins with open contempt and a wager that should have ended in Will’s expulsion.

Instead, Will defeats Julius, forcing him to swallow his pride and apologize in deed, not just words.

Over time, their relationship evolves from hostility into a strange, prickly camaraderie.

Julius continues to hurl insults and act superior, but his actions repeatedly support Will’s growth and survival.

Ultimately, they become genuine friends, even if Julius refuses to phrase it so nicely.

Will’s presence draws out Julius’s buried kindness, helping him become more than the shallow narcissist he pretends to be.

Elfaria Albis Serfort

Elfaria Albis Serfort, the Ice Princess, is both Julius’s idol and his benchmark.

He studies her magic obsessively and strives to become her successor in name and in power.

His ability to partially activate her First Law, White Art, earns him recognition and expectation from the Ice Faction.

At the same time, learning that Elfaria created that spell at two years old brutally undercuts his confidence.

This mix of admiration and insecurity shapes Julius’s drive.

He is determined to prove that even in a world of monsters like Elfaria and Will, his own talent is worth something.

Emma Klever

Emma Klever is Julius’s childhood friend.

He knows her well enough to notice when something about her feels wrong.

That sensitivity is what allows him to detect her corruption under Shade’s influence.

Tragically, this awareness comes too late to prevent her from attacking him.

Emma, controlled by Shade, nearly kills Julius and leaves him for dead.

The emotional weight of being wounded by someone from his past adds extra sting to his “death” and secret survival.

Ice Faction and Other Mages

Within the Ice Faction, Julius is a rising star.

His early success with White Art and his battlefield performance cement his status among the faction’s leaders and strategists.

The Ice Faction sees him as a critical asset against threats like the Book of Ruin.

This is why they choose to hide his survival and deploy him as a covert weapon.

Among fellow students and graduates, Julius is often seen as a difficult but undeniably brilliant ally.

His sharp tongue makes him hard to like, but in crisis, his reliability and skill are impossible to ignore.

Julius’s favorite foods—chilled torta-root soup and raspberry sherbet—fit his ice-themed image.

Even his palate leans toward cold, refreshing dishes.

He strongly dislikes papprika fruit.

This minor detail sometimes appears in lighter interactions and comedic scenes.

The talisman he carries was given to him by the maid who was his first love.

Despite adopting a “villainous” persona after that heartbreak, he still keeps this memento close, hinting at his lingering attachment and softer heart.

Julius’s climb to the 6th floor of the dungeon as a student is another mark of his prowess.

It showcases his combat experience and survivability, not just raw magical talent.

His journey—from arrogant top student, to “dead” victim, to hidden savior of the Tower—maps a clear arc of growth.

Underneath all the pride and sarcasm, Julius Reinberg is a character defined by stubborn ambition, buried kindness, and a talent that even legends take seriously.
