During the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Keiji participates in the operation to capture the Female Titan.

In this mission, Erwin Smith orders him to prepare explosive charges as part of the trapping and containment plan.

Keiji’s involvement emphasizes his role as a dependable support soldier who can handle dangerous logistics in the middle of battle.

Although not a central strategist, he follows orders diligently and contributes directly to the attempted capture.

Later, during the battle in Stohess District, Keiji witnesses the aftermath of the confrontation with Annie Leonhart, who is sealed within a crystal-like structure.

Overcome with rage at the devastation she has caused, he repeatedly stabs his broken blade into the crystal surrounding her.

This outburst is intense enough that Hange Zoë steps in and scolds him, telling him to stop.
