Snake is a unique young man who has skin covered in snake-like scales on parts of his body. He can talk with snakes and is always seen with one around his neck. Because of his unusual look, people often avoid him. However, the Noah's Ark Circus and the Phantomhive household mean a lot to him and are places he feels he belongs. Snake is the only snake tamer in the circus, and after a mysterious incident causes the circus members to disappear, he searches for answers at the Phantomhive house. Over time, he becomes a footman for Ciel Phantomhive, using his skills and snakes to help the family. Though he struggles with his appearance, Snake learns to stand proud with encouragement from the people around him.
Snake is a half-human, half-snake (a snake-man), and some parts of his skin look like snake scales.
His pupils are vertical, just like a snake's eyes.

Snake sees the Noah's Ark Circus as his family and is very loyal to them.
After joining the Phantomhive family, he becomes close to Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis but keeps calling them by their circus nicknames, "Smile" for Ciel and "Black" for Sebastian.
He also works with Finnian (Finn) during special missions and tries his best to fit in with the other servants.
Snake always introduces his words as coming from one of his snakes, saying things like, "Oscar says..."
Each snake has a unique name and personality in his mind.
He struggles with his identity, feeling shy and self-conscious about his looks.

Life Before the Circus
Before joining Noah's Ark Circus, Snake was part of a freak show because of his unusual appearance.

As the only snake tamer, Snake became a key performer in the circus.
He was happy to be part of the group but did not know about their secret activities or their connection to Baron Kelvin.
After the Circus Disbands
When Joker and the other main circus members disappear (actually killed by Ciel and his group), Snake loses his home and sense of belonging.
He starts searching for answers and uses the scent of his snakes to track Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis to the Phantomhive townhouse.
Encounter at the Phantomhive House
Snake mistakes Soma Asman Kadar's kindness as a welcome and visits the main Phantomhive manor.
He tries to use his snakes to attack Ciel and Sebastian because he thinks they caused his friends' disappearance.
Sebastian catches him, and Ciel tells him a lie to protect his own secret, saying the circus members simply went away.
Snake is then hired as a footman, working together with Ciel to find out where his friends went.
Adjusting to Life as a Servant
Snake is new to being a servant and feels awkward about his duties.
He uses his snakes to watch over and protect Ciel Phantomhive and others during emergencies.
He worries his looks will embarrass his friends, but Ciel tells him that being different is nothing to be ashamed of, and Sebastian encourages him to be confident.
Infiltration of F.O.L. Orphanage
During the Blue Cult arc, after the Phantomhive house is taken over, Snake and Finnian sneak into the F.O.L. Orphanage under Ciel's orders.
There, Snake meets Doll again, a former circus friend.
Doll reveals that Ciel and his group killed the circus members, and Snake learns the painful truth about his friends' fate.
