Olcott is a middle-aged man with a noticeable scar running from his forehead to his left eyebrow.

He has a rough, pilot-like look, usually seen wearing a bomber jacket and khaki pants.

He wears a glove only on his left hand, though the reason is unclear.

Olcott leads the Mobile Suit squad of the Dawn of Fold.

He often seems friendly, but he treats everyone, including team members and mechanics like Norea Du Noc and Sophie Pulone, very formally and with little emotional attachment.

He judges people mainly by how useful they are in a mission.

Olcott's true name is Ridrick Kruhel, and he used to serve as a member of the Dominicus team.

Olcott lost his son and much of his own body during an Earthian terrorist attack.

He now lives with a body rebuilt using GUND technology, serving as a constant reminder about his past.

He is a reliable leader during missions, and is trusted by Naji Geor Hija and the rest of the Dawn of Fold.

Joining the Dawn of Fold

Olcott, once Ridrick Kruhel of the Dominicus unit, is now the main Mobile Suit squad leader for the Dawn of Fold, fighting against major powers from Earth.

Plant Quetta Attack

During the attack on Plant Quetta, Olcott pilots a Desultar to lead a mission to assassinate Delling Rembran.

He and his team jam all communications while assisting Sophie Pulone and others.

After the team runs into strong resistance and is outnumbered, Olcott leads a retreat but keeps track of an abandoned Desultar.

Earth Retreat and Capturing Guel

After escaping from Plant Quetta, Olcott captures Guel Jeturk, who is drifting in space, and brings him to their Earth camp as a valuable "bargaining chip."

He acts roughly to make sure Guel survives, even forcing him to eat, which some viewers found harsh.

It is revealed that Olcott’s decision to bring Guel was his own, not following Naji’s orders.

As Guel mourns for Seethia, Olcott begins to show more compassion and later helps Guel return to space.

Ghosts of the Past

Through Kenanji Avery, we find out Olcott was once a young, idealistic officer who lost his family to conflict.

He tries to keep calm and hide his trauma but often remembers his inability to save his son.

He now wears a glove on his left hand to cover his prosthetic, which is a reminder of the past.

Battle and Aftermath

When their Earth camp is attacked by enemies, Olcott tries to save the wounded Seethia.

He fights bravely piloting a Prodros and closely engages with advanced enemy machines, achieving key victories even while his allies fall.

After helping Guel, he provides him with clothes and directions, showing hidden kindness.

In the end, Olcott is seen alive with Naji at the refugee camp, hearing Miorine Rembran’s announcement about disbanding the Benerit Group.

Side Story: Vanadis Heart

A younger Olcott, back when he was still Ridrick Kruhel, appears in the “Vanadis Heart” side story.

He leads the Ridrick Squad and pilots a Begilbew-Torsh unit.

Olcott is a rare character without a recorded family name in the series.

His identity as Ridrick Kruhel was a secret at first.

He lives a minimalist life, keeping almost no personal belongings and seeing emotional ties as another possession.

The type of prosthetic hand he uses is not officially confirmed as GUND or otherwise, but it’s believed to be a regular artificial arm done after the GUND technology was banned.

He is often compared and contrasted to other characters who lost children and received prosthetic limbs, highlighting differences in their lives and personalities.

Olcott got heavy focus in episode 15, being credited right after Guel Jeturk, a rare honor for a side character.

He is expected to have more background explored in additional stories and side materials.

Some fans believe Olcott intercepted Guel’s open communication, which is how he was able to find and rescue him.
