Character Setting

Edit

Boros is a male humanoid alien warlord and leader of the Dark Matter Thieves, classified as above Disaster Level Dragon, who invades Earth in search of an equal opponent and is ultimately defeated by Saitama.

Boros is the supreme commander of the interstellar criminal organization known as the Dark Matter Thieves.

He is a one‑eyed humanoid alien whose sheer power and speed place him among the strongest beings in the One-Punch Man universe.

He travels the cosmos because no one in his own sector of the universe can rival his strength.

After hearing a prophecy that a being who can fight him on equal terms exists on a distant planet, he sets his sights on Earth.

Boros becomes convinced that this foretold opponent is Saitama.

He challenges Saitama in a duel that pushes both his body and his arsenal of trump cards to the limit.

Boros is driven primarily by boredom and a craving for a worthy battle rather than simple conquest.

Having never met anyone who could truly threaten him, he sees combat as the only way to feel alive.

He takes the prophecy about his destined rival very seriously and crosses the universe to fulfill it.

Despite his brutality and destructive potential, he shows a warrior’s pride and respects strength in others.

During his fight with Saitama, he gradually realizes the vast gap between their abilities.

Nevertheless, he refuses to yield and pours everything he has into the battle, embracing the role of a doomed but proud challenger.

Boros arrives on Earth as a world-ending threat, with his power ranked beyond standard Disaster Level Dragon.

His invasion is framed as a crisis so severe that, according to Geryuganshoop, he could level the planet’s surface in ten days.

In the animated adaptation, his ultimate attack is stated to be capable of obliterating Earth itself.

Despite this, Saitama later treats the encounter without much emotional weight, suggesting that Boros, while powerful, did not leave a lasting impression on him.

Boros is notable for forcing Saitama to use several serious attacks in a row.

He withstands multiple blows and pushes Saitama far enough that Saitama unleashes his “Serious Punch” (often called his “serious series” or “serious strike”) to end the fight.

After the battle, when Genos asks Saitama about Boros, Saitama remarks that Boros “might have been the strongest opponent so far” or at least implies he was among the most formidable.

This sets Boros apart from most other monsters and villains, who are typically defeated with effortless ease.

Boros belongs to a species renowned throughout space for its extraordinary natural healing factor.

Even among his own people, he is considered exceptional in natural regeneration, physical performance, and latent energy reserves.

His body stores an immense quantity of internal energy.

This energy fuels not only his phenomenal recuperation but also devastating energy beams that he can fire from his body.

In terms of raw power and speed, Boros is portrayed as one of the absolute top tiers in the series.

He can exchange blows with Saitama for longer than any other major enemy shown up to that point, surviving impacts that would annihilate most beings instantly.

His durability is such that he endures repeated strikes from Saitama, including powerful blows that shatter structures and send him flying.

Even while suffering massive damage, he continues to regenerate and return to the fight.

Meteoric Burst

Boros’s trump card for close combat is “Meteoric Burst.”

In this state, he releases a portion of his internal energy as propulsion to push his body beyond the natural biological limit.

Meteoric Burst boosts his physical parameters by an extreme degree, drastically enhancing his speed, strength, and agility.

He becomes fast enough to blitz across the battlefield, overwhelm most opponents, and launch them across planetary distances.

In the Murata version of the manga, Boros in Meteoric Burst form kicks Saitama all the way to the Moon.

This feat highlights not only his raw power but also the absurd velocity generated by this transformation.

Although Meteoric Burst dramatically increases his combat performance, it also burns through his life force and energy reserves.

The form is unsustainable, turning the battle into a race against time where Boros gambles everything in a single explosive showdown.

Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon

Boros’s ultimate, all-or-nothing technique is the “Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon.”

This attack gathers and unleashes the entirety of his remaining internal energy in a single, colossal beam.

The beam is described as powerful enough to raze a planet’s surface and reduce it to a barren wasteland.

In the anime adaptation, Boros explicitly intends to use it to completely destroy Earth.

By using this technique, Boros sacrifices all of his accumulated energy and survivability.

It represents both his final weapon and his acceptance that he is staking his life on defeating Saitama.

Despite its apocalyptic scale, Saitama counters the Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon with one Serious Punch.

The clash of these attacks showcases Boros’s position as a near-apocalyptic threat while simultaneously underlining Saitama’s overwhelming superiority.

The fight between Boros and Saitama is one of the most high-impact battles in the series.

Boros opens with overwhelming physical force and energy blasts that would annihilate nearly any hero.

He quickly realizes that Saitama is unfazed by his regular attacks.

In response, he escalates the battle by activating Meteoric Burst, achieving speeds and power that let him temporarily push Saitama around the battlefield.

At his peak, Boros manages to kick Saitama to the Moon in the Murata manga version.

Saitama casually returns, revealing that even this impressive feat fails to meaningfully threaten him.

Boros ultimately unleashes his Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon in a desperate bid to annihilate Saitama and Earth.

Saitama answers with his Serious Punch, overpowering the beam and fatally injuring Boros in a single decisive clash.

Even as he lies dying, Boros acknowledges Saitama’s overwhelming might.

His final words to Saitama are an admission: “You were too strong.”

Within the context of the story, Boros is treated as an enemy on a completely different level from most other monsters.

His classification as above Disaster Level Dragon marks him as more than a standard world-ending threat.

According to Geryuganshoop, Boros is not merely “Dragon level” but something far beyond it.

Geryuganshoop claims that Boros could turn the entire Earth into flat wasteland in just ten days.

His natural healing factor, immense internal energy, and combat techniques make him a walking catastrophe.

Few, if any, other monsters combine regeneration, energy projection, and physical dominance to this extent.

However, Saitama’s reaction after the fight indicates that Boros still falls far short of challenging him seriously.

While Boros may be the strongest opponent up to that point, Saitama does not dwell on the encounter and moves on without emotional strain.

This contrast reinforces Boros’s dual role as both a top-tier threat and a narrative benchmark for Saitama’s unreachably high power ceiling.

Boros stands out as one of the rare foes who could push Saitama to reveal a bit more of his strength, while still being decisively overpowered.
