Genta Doi

Genta Doi is often described as attractive, with a constant sparkle around him that draws the eye. However, this overly flashy presence contrasts with his frequently awkward demeanor.

Genta is known for his grandiose mannerisms and confidence, though this is often undermined by his insecurities. He is easily discouraged by failure but rarely changes his approach, leading to repeated social blunders. Although he tries to act superior, especially toward Haruo Yaguchi, his efforts usually backfire, and his inner vulnerability is frequently on display.

Genta attended elementary school with Akira Ono and Haruo Yaguchi, forming part of their childhood social circle. After graduating, he went on to a different middle school, only to cross paths with Haruo again in high school. As an adult, he becomes a PE teacher at his old junior high, continuing his search for social belonging and recognition.

While not a gamer by reputation, Genta surprises himself by hitting the jackpot on a medal game twice, landing the incredible 999x multiplier two times. This instance reveals some hidden potential as a gamer, although Genta finds the experience confusing rather than empowering.

Genta is obsessed with winning the affection of Akira Ono, though all his efforts go unreciprocated. He looks down on Haruo, whose relationship with Akira he both envies and misunderstands. Genta often finds himself in the company of Kotaro Miyao, sticking close to his old acquaintances since he struggles to blend in at high school. As an adult, he remains friends with Kotaro, and they often go drinking together. Notably, Genta is still single and once drunkenly confesses to still being a virgin.

Desperate Attempts at Romance

During elementary school, Genta tirelessly tries to impress Akira Ono and hopes to get her to agree to a date. He organizes group outings like a trip to an amusement park near the end of summer vacation. However, because he doesn't bother to learn Akira's interests, his plans repeatedly fall apart.

Haruo Yaguchi Rivalry

Genta is dismayed to see Akira interact with Haruo Yaguchi while consistently ignoring him. His attempts to belittle Haruo do little to hide his jealousy and frustration at not being able to get Akira’s attention.

Group Outing Disaster

The amusement park outing goes poorly. Genta's schemes fail, and the highlight is an embarrassing incident in the Ferris wheel where Chihiro Onizuka unexpectedly touches him inappropriately, turning the group date into a disaster for Genta.

High School Life

In high school, Genta finds himself in the same class as Haruo again. Still focused on charming the girls, he mostly fails and can't find his footing in the new environment. With few true friends, he latches on to Haruo and Kotaro Miyao for company.

Unexpected Gamer Moment

At the arcade, Genta's luck shines through for once when he hits the elusive jackpot on a medal game not once, but twice, winning the 999x multiplier. Even so, his reaction is more confusion than triumph.

Adulthood in the Spin-off “DASH”

In the spin-off series, Genta becomes a physical education teacher at his former junior high. As an adult, he still radiates the same sparkling presence and sticks closely to old friend Kotaro Miyao. Despite growing up, his love life remains just as stagnant, and he once embarrassingly admits while drinking that he is still a virgin.
