Gyutaro is one of Muzan Kibutsuji’s elite demons, bearing the Upper Rank Six kanji in his eyes and serving as the true combat power behind the “Upper Rank Six” title.
While the name and position are shared with his younger sister Daki, he is vastly stronger than her and is responsible for most of the pair’s long, bloody record.
Over 113 years he has held the Upper Rank Six seat, personally killing and eating 15 Hashira and assisting Daki in killing 7 more, for a total of 22 Hashira.
He primarily fights with a pair of sickles formed from his own flesh and blood, and uses his poisoned blood as a deadly Blood Demon Art.
Within the story’s Entertainment District Arc, he and Daki serve as the final boss figures, fighting Tengen Uzui and the main trio—Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira.
He normally remains fused into Daki’s back and only emerges when she is in danger or overwhelmed.
Overall Build
Gyutaro is tall and lanky, with a heavily emaciated lower body that contrasts with his relatively muscular chest and arms.
From his ribcage downward he is terrifyingly skinny, with his pelvis and bones clearly visible, and he has a pronounced hunchback that emphasizes his ghastly silhouette.
Despite being a high-ranking demon who has eaten many humans, he stays gaunt, something he himself comments on during his battle with Tengen Uzui, muttering that he “can’t get fat.”
This line carries both self‑mockery and envy toward Uzui’s tall, well‑built physique.
He usually goes shirtless, with bandage-like wrappings around his arms and wrapped, bandage-style legwear instead of conventional pants.
He is barefoot, and his fingernails are black and clawlike, adding to his bestial appearance.
Face and Hair
Gyutaro has messy, wavy hair tied at the crown of his head.
His hair coloration is split horizontally: the upper section is black, while the lower portion is a sickly yellow-green.
His eyes are bloodshot green with yellow sclera, giving him an unbalanced, feverish stare.
Across his face and body are numerous dark blotches and patches that resemble stains or bruises, making him look diseased and corpse-like.
He has sharp, jagged teeth, a flattened, battered-looking nose, and a prominent dark blotch that runs across his face, all contributing to his savage look among demons.
As a mark of his status, the kanji for “Upper” appears in his right eye, and “Six” in his left.
When he transfers his left eye to Daki, the “Six” appears on her forehead—though upside down relative to its normal orientation.
This eye transfer is both a symbolic sign of their shared rank and a practical tool he uses to monitor and support her in battle.
Jealous, Cruel, and the “True” Upper Rank Six
Gyutaro is deeply vindictive, petty, and cruel, shaped by a childhood of extreme poverty and abuse in the most degraded part of the red‑light district.
His core creed is: take before you are taken from, and “collect what you’re owed” by inflicting on others the same cruelty you suffered.
He believes that anything that was taken from him must be “collected” from those who appear happier or more fortunate.
To him, every happy person is a debtor, and he shows no mercy toward anyone who harms him or his sister.
When confronted by Zenitsu Agatsuma, who states, “You shouldn’t do to others what you hate being done to you,” Gyutaro vehemently rejects that morality.
He counters that people must do to others what was done to them—hurt them back, reclaim their stolen happiness, and “collect” with interest.
He openly states ideas along the lines of:
People who did things to him must have it done back to them.
The unhappiness he suffered must be taken back from the happy.
Anyone who complains or blames him gets killed.
