Jibril is a member of the Flügel, known as the sixth-ranked race among the Exceed in the world of Disboard. Even though she looks like a young girl, Jibril is actually 6,407 years old. She was created by the war god Artosh during the Great War as the final and most powerful Flügel. Jibril loves knowledge more than anything and is famous for her unpredictable, sometimes extreme personality. Originally feared for her strength, she now works with Sora and Shiro as their loyal companion after losing a game to them. Her intelligence and magic make her a key figure in many competitions, even if her overwhelming power can sometimes be a problem.
Jibril looks like a young angelic girl with large wings. She has a unique appearance that makes her stand out from others in her world. Sometimes, after using too much energy, she even becomes a smaller, childlike version of herself known as "Loli Jibril (A)."
Jibril is curious and always eager to learn new things, calling herself an “extreme knowledge seeker.” She can be very kind to her friends but is merciless to her enemies. She sometimes acts like a sophisticated lady, but her humor and interests can be very unusual and even a little bit strange. During the era of the Great War, she already had some peculiar traits like enjoying battle, and she is said to even have a bit of a masochistic side.
Jibril looks down on other races ranked lower than the Flügel, especially the elves like Fiel Nilvalen or the werebeasts. She is not afraid to show her superiority, but she grows to deeply respect Sora and Shiro after becoming their companion.
Jibril is the last-born member of the Flügel, known as the "Closed Number" among her people. She was created to be the ultimate weapon during the Great War and was famous among many races for her incredible power and the fear she inspired.
She left her homeland after opposing a law about sharing books. Five years before Sora and Shiro arrived in Disboard, Jibril defeated the former king of Elchea in a game and won the national library, which then became her home.
Jibril's combat power is among the highest in the world, even though the Ten Pledges (Ten Covenants) ban direct violence. She can split and even evaporate oceans with her magic. Jibril has a flexible mind, quickly adopting new strategies and using knowledge from other worlds to gain an advantage.
She keeps a diary of her many battles, including many losses, and this diary is considered a holy book among her people, though not all Flügel read it.
Jibril respects her "Masters," Sora and Shiro, greatly after losing to them in a game. She often refers to them with utmost loyalty. Jibril was once part of the "Eighteen-Wing Council" of the Flügel but lost her seat after leaving her home. Still, her influence among the Flügel remains strong.
She once aimed to defeat Artosh, her creator, during the Great War but never succeeded.
Jibril won second place in the “MF Bunko J Heroine Contest 2015 in Melonbooks.”
Her name, Jibril, translates to the archangel Gabriel.
The author mentioned that drawing Jibril is much faster than drawing Shiro’s hair.
Jibril’s "holy book" is actually a diary where she documents her experiences and thoughts about Sora, showing him as almost god-like.
Jibril's Arrival in Elchea
Jibril leaves her homeland after refusing to accept a law about sharing books. She defeats the former king of Elchea in a game and claims the national library as her own.
Defeat by Sora and Shiro
After five years, Sora and Shiro arrive in Elchea and challenge Jibril to a game of "Materialization Shiritori." Jibril loses and, due to the Ten Pledges, becomes the property of Sora and Shiro. She begins to address them as "Master" and develops great admiration for their skills.
Key Role in Major Battles
Jibril uses her knowledge and magic to help Sora and Shiro in many battles. She plays a big part in convincing Azril and many other Flügel to accept Sora and Shiro as their masters.
During the battle with the Seirens, Jibril exposes lies during the game and even recreates scenes from the B route of another world, Dod.
The Holy Book and Its Impact
Jibril’s diary, nicknamed the "Holy Book," is distributed among the Flügel, though not many read it. It describes her losses and reflects on her experiences.
Facing the Old Memories
In the battle against the Old Deus, Jibril is afraid that her memories will be erased. Still, she fights alongside Sora and Shiro, showing them the darkness of the Great War by recreating it in a game.
Influence in Later Battles
Jibril’s past experiences and strength are important in later battles against the Ex-Machina.
Jibril's actions and character are explored more in the original novels, especially in volumes 2 and 6 and in the anime around episodes 6–7.
Even though she used to be a terrifying force during the Great War, now she is a lovable, quirky, and slightly strange friend to Sora and Shiro.
The author once wrote, "Please don't hate Jibril," even after seeing her dark side during battles.
She once used so much power during a fight with Schwi Dola that she became a child-sized version of herself (Loli Jibril).
Jibril’s story mixes humor, power, and a deep hunger for knowledge, making her one of the most interesting characters in No Game No Life.
