Kae Serinuma (芹沼 花依 Serinuma Kae), is the main protagonist of the series.
She is introduced as a 2nd-year student and is described as a full-fledged otaku and fujoshi. She is the daughter of Hideo Serinuma and Mitsuko Serinuma, and the younger sister of Takurou Serinuma.
Following the beginning of both the anime and manga, Kae is introduced as a young woman with a plus-size figure. Her eyes are noted to be so small that they're usually adorned with a pair of round, but oversized glasses. In addition, her hair is typically tied into low pigtails and is otherwise secured with bubblegum pink scrunchies.
However, after the death of her favorite anime character, Shion, Kae shuts herself away in her room for days and refuses to come out. This results her losing a dramatic amount of weight and she gains an eye-catching figure, followed by notably large breasts, which seemed to have come from when she was chubby.
