Tama

Tama is the main heroine of the first part of Sengoku Youko. She is a female fox spirit who has lived for more than 200 years. Tama is Jinka Yamato’s adoptive older sister and is always called “Big Sister.” While Jinka dislikes humans, Tama truly likes them and dreams of a world where humans and those of the dark can live together peacefully. She fights with her brother under the name “Sibling Reformers.” She can offer spiritual power and blood to Jinka when he needs it, becoming more human-like during those times. She values justice above all and is willing to stop both humans and those in the dark who act wickedly, even when it is someone close to her. Tama also has powerful illusions not needing talismans, and by the end of part one, she even learns how to fly with leaves. Her true identity is an ancient split spirit of the famous nine-tailed fox Tamamo-no-Mae. In part two, she continues her journey to find Jinka, training in illusions again, and still seeks a better world with her brother.

Tama looks like a young girl with fox features. She has long hair, which grows even longer after a certain powerful event. She also grows taller after her spiritual power increases. In part two, she gets new clothes that Tsukiko finds "cool."

Tama is kind, cheerful, and full of spirit. She believes deeply in justice and fights evil even if it comes from her own side or family. She loves humans and wants peace between humans and spirits. Sometimes, she can make hard decisions, like thinking a sacrifice every four years is reasonable.

Tama has lived for more than 200 years. She is Jinka Yamato’s adopted older sister and became close to him thanks to his father, Genzo. Her real form is the ancient split spirit of Tamamo-no-Mae, the legendary golden, white-faced, nine-tailed fox. She often acts as a guide and protector to her friends and tries to create a better world.

Tama is very powerful. She can use illusions without needing any special talismans. After an intense battle, her spiritual energy becomes much stronger, and she learns to fly using leaves. When she gives her spiritual power to Jinka, she becomes more like a human. Her skills grow as she trains under her illusion master again in part two.

Fighting for a World Without Hatred

Tama travels with her little brother Jinka Yamato, hoping to fix the world so humans and spirits don’t need to fight. She calls herself his big sister and uses her powers to fight for justice.

Meeting New Friends and Facing Danger

On their journey, Tama meets Shinsuke Hyoudou and Shakugan. Together, they try to punish the group called the Five, who changed Shakugan with experiments. However, this ends with them being chased.

Training for Justice

Tama, Jinka, and friends go to train under the Mountain God. After training, they become stronger and ready to challenge their enemies again.

Jinka’s Awakening and Tama’s Transformation

During a heated battle, Jinka awakens as the mystical “Thousand Fox Spirit” and disappears. At the same time, Tama’s spiritual energy grows unexpectedly strong, causing her hair to grow longer and making her taller.

Searching for Jinka in Part Two

Tama changes her outfit and starts a new journey searching for Jinka. She trains under her old illusion master and supports Senya, the main character of part two. She acts separately from Shinsuke and the others, always looking for her brother.

A Peaceful Ending

Even eight years later, Tama remains much the same in appearance and power. After the battle of the Thousand Fox Spirits’ liberation, she finally returns to the mountains with Jinka, where they lead a peaceful life together.
