Ken grew up in a tough situation.

His mother was a worker in the nightlife industry, and he never knew his father.

When he was just two, his mother disappeared, leaving Ken on his own.

He was taken in by a shop in Shibuya, which gave him a place to stay.

Ken has lived in a back room of an adult club because he had no real home.

When Ken was in 5th grade, he got the dragon tattoo that everyone knows him for.

He exchanged a beef bowl for the dragon design, which came from Takashi Mitsuya's graffiti art.

Ken is still scared of shampoo getting in his eyes, so he uses a shampoo hat when washing his hair.

He values friendship and believes it is important to bow your head only when you really need to.

"You do not need to know how to bow your head."

"But you must have a heart that cares about others."

Ken goes to the hospital to see the friend’s girlfriend, bows his head to the girl's parents, and tells Manjirou Sano to think about the feelings of others.

Ken argues with Manjirou Sano about how to help Haruki Hayashida after a gang conflict, which nearly causes a split in their gang, but Takemichi Hanagaki helps them make peace.

The 8/3 Conflict

Ken is tricked by gang members and attacked.

He keeps fighting even after being hit and stabbed, but he survives with Takemichi Hanagaki's help.

Later, Ken recovers after surgery and trusts Takemichi Hanagaki with Manjirou Sano’s old gang uniform.

Blood Halloween

Ken and his gang are heavily outnumbered, but Ken protects scared teammates.

Inspired by Takemichi Hanagaki’s spirit, the team rallies.

Ken defeats ten enemy members in moments and battles evenly with Shuuji Hanma.

Bleak Futures and New Destinies

In some futures, Ken is wrongly accused of murder or is killed by Manjirou Sano or enemy gangs.

Later, he becomes a mechanic, runs a motorcycle shop, and joins the Bonten group under strict conditions.

Ken tries to protect his friends and keep them out of new fights.

Events Leading to His Death

Ken is shot while trying to save Takemichi Hanagaki and others.

He is taken away by ambulance, preparing to reunite with Emma Sano in heaven.

This event changes the future, and Ken is erased from the timeline because of the attack.

New Timeline and Happy Ending

In a new world line, due to Takemichi Hanagaki’s actions, Ken never dies.

He works as the mechanic for Manjirou Sano’s auto racing team.
