Karma Akabane

Karma Akabane has striking red hair and is taller than most of his classmates. He is considered good-looking, often described as an “ikemen” (handsome guy) among his peers. As an adult, his hair style changes and he reaches a height of 185 centimeters, making him stand out even more.

Karma is friendly, relaxed, and very clever. He often speaks in a teasing way, making jokes or playing tricks on others. He’s strong both in mind and body, with a good sense for fighting and outsmarting people. Karma likes to cause trouble, but only when he thinks it’s right. Deep down, he has a strong sense of justice and will stand up for others, even at his own risk. He is also very independent and sometimes difficult to approach because of his sharp instincts and cautious nature. People sometimes find him hard to get close to, but he shows a much softer side to those he trusts.

Karma’s parents love Indian culture so much that they named him after the word "karma" in Sanskrit, which is also a term from Buddhism. His parents are often away, traveling or trading stocks, so Karma mostly lives alone even as a middle school student. He became famous at their school for being smart but also for getting into trouble—like fighting with violent students to protect others. After his suspension, Karma joins Class E, where he meets Nagisa Shiota and other classmates. Despite being a late joiner, he quickly shows his talent in both academics and assassination. He becomes known for using clever tricks, learning assassination techniques quickly, and even injuring Korosensei with a surprise attack.

Relationship with Nagisa Shiota

Karma and Nagisa have a complex relationship. They're close friends but also rivals. Karma is wary of Nagisa's hidden assassination skills. After a major argument about whether to continue trying to kill Korosensei, they settle their differences through a survival game and become closer friends, using each other's first names.

Academic Rivalries

Karma is very smart and competitive in school. He once drops from the top of class rankings because he slacked off, but uses this loss to grow stronger. He then comes roaring back, eventually getting perfect scores and ranking first in the school.

Trust and Growth

Karma originally distrusts teachers because of betrayal by former teacher Ohno, who protected Karma when he was useful and abandoned him after a violent incident. Karma wants to "kill" Korosensei as a teacher but changes after Korosensei saves his life. He learns from defeat and becomes more cautious and respectful toward his classmates and opponents.

Final Mission and Future

In the final assassination mission, Karma leads his class with daring strategies, using "anything and everything you can" to win. After graduation, he chooses to stay at Kunugigaoka High School and goes on to compete against Gakushu Asano for the top spots. Seven years later, Karma becomes a government official, passing the top government exam and working at the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, smiling confidently about his future.
