Howan

Howan has bright blue eyes and light pink hair with a single pigtail on the left side. She has pink fox ears with white and red twisted cord ribbons with a bell on both sides, and a fluffy pink tail that grows darker at the tip.

Howan wears a sleeveless blue top styled similarly to a sailor fuku. It has a white collar with blue lines. The center piece of the collar has a small red emblem with a fox tail with two diamonds on both sides of it. She also wears a yellow ribbon that is laced under the collar and is tied at the front of her blouse. Her blue sleeves are separate with a white trim at the top and bottom with small red ribbons. She wears a short red skirt that has deep V-shaped slits on the sides, similar to a hakama, with a white lace ruffle along the bottom. She has a thick red and white twisted cord tied at her waist into a large red bow with a bell.

She also wears thigh-high blue tabi socks that match her top and red geta that have red and white twisted cord straps.

Howan is a country girl who has always dreamed of going to the city. Because of this, she finds anything city people do that is foreign to her as "cool." She frequently uses the expression "howa howaaaa!!" to express her amazement whenever she sees something new and exciting, which is likely where her name stems from.

She has a cheerful disposition, which allows her to easily make friends with others. However, she can be naïve and frequently has to be guided in the right direction by Mashima Himeko. Howan doesn't like to show any negative emotions. Whenever she feels upset or jealous, mainly towards anyone who gets close to Himeko, Howan is quick to believe she is a "bad girl."

Howan loves to clean and is an excellent cook, often cooking dishes for herself and Himeko when the two are home together. She can be clumsy and has her head in the clouds, so she frequently gets lost and misplaces things. She also seems to have a hard time understanding technology and often confuses photographs as being on television.

• Her guitar originally belonged to her grandpa and appears to be modeled after an akabeko.

• Howan's character songs are Goodbye Thank You! and My Treasure Is With You. Palms is her character duet with Mashima Himeko.

• The village where she grew up is called Eiyatto Village.

• She lives with Himeko and does most of the cleaning and cooking.

• Howan was originally the mascot for the Sanrio Animestore. She was eventually added as a character to SHOW BY ROCK!! In the series, she works in the Sanrio Animestore in Ikepoach as a reference to her origin.

• She worked part-time shoveling snow.
