Hajime Kokonoi is a key supporting character in the manga "Tokyo Revengers" by Ken Wakui. Known by his nickname "Koko," he is renowned for his cold, calculating mind and his peerless ability to generate money by any means necessary. Koko’s uniquely sharp, reptilian-like features set him apart, earning him the moniker "cat" in the infamous dog-and-cat duo with Seishuu Inui. Despite his calm, sometimes selfish exterior, Koko’s loyalty to Inui and hidden emotional depth add rich layers to his role throughout the intricate gang wars.
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: April 1, 1990
Height: 174 cm
Weight: 60 kg
Blood Type: A
Kokonoi has a distinct, sharp-eyed gaze, often compared to a reptile. His slim build belies his physical strength and agility. Later in the story, he sports a braided hairstyle with a tattoo above his left ear—Izana Kurokawa’s iconic earring inked in tribute.
Kokonoi is a meticulous, cool-headed, and self-centered tactician. He doesn’t get swept away by emotions easily and assesses everything through the lens of profit and strategy. However, he is highly drawn to those with strength and is fiercely loyal to Seishuu Inui, seldom following anyone else's orders.
Kokonoi grew up alongside Seishuu Inui and Akane Inui, forming a close bond with the siblings. When tragedy struck and Akane suffered severe burns, Kokonoi became desperate to raise money for her treatment. This struggle steered him down a dark path, opting for illegal schemes when legitimate options were beyond reach. His formative years were shaped by this relentless pursuit of wealth, cementing his reputation as a financial genius in the Tokyo underworld.
Kokonoi’s street fighting skills are above average, but his true genius lies elsewhere. He is extraordinarily talented in financial manipulation, organizing schemes that allow criminal gangs to thrive. His ingenuity is one of the pillars supporting major underworld organizations, making him an invaluable asset wherever he goes.
Seishuu Inui: His childhood friend and the one person Kokonoi trusts and follows wholeheartedly.
Akane Inui: Inui’s sister and Kokonoi’s secret love; her fate profoundly influences his decisions.
Taiju Shiba: Viewed Kokonoi as half of the “dog and cat” duo.
Tetta Kisaki: Often collaborates with Kisaki, particularly for information and negotiations.
Izana Kurokawa: Shares sympathy and interaction over mutual interests in money.
Kokonoi is the only executive who remains on good terms with Takemichi Hanagaki in the present timeline.
His criminal ingenuity is considered one of the three major driving forces behind the dark turn of the Tokyo Manji Gang, alongside Kisaki's brain and Manjirou Sano’s charisma.
In an alternate timeline, he becomes the president of the TK&KO Group, with Tetta Kisaki as his vice president.

Roots and Early Days
Kokonoi is born April 1, 1990, making him one grade ahead in Japanese schools. In junior high, upon Seishuu Inui’s release from juvenile detention, Kokonoi introduces Inui to Taiju Shiba to revive the Black Dragon gang. Taiju becomes the new leader, with Kokonoi pledging loyalty to both Taiju and Inui.
Black Dragon Era to Tokyo Manji Gang
Kokonoi assists as chief bodyguard of the Tenth Generation Black Dragon, often acting as the financial brain. During the "Christmas Showdown," he leaks crucial info to Tetta Kisaki and subsequently sides with Inui during the attack on Taiju. After their defeat, he leaves Taiju behind to join the Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman), entering as a member of the First Division alongside Inui.
Betrayal, Tenjiku, and Organized Crime
Kokonoi is later kidnapped by Yasuhiro Mutou, who reveals that Kokonoi's financial talent, Kisaki's intellect, and Manjirou Sano’s charisma turned Toman into a criminal powerhouse. As Izana Kurokawa seeks Kokonoi’s genius for his own groups, Kokonoi reluctantly joins the Tenjiku gang after being forced to witness violence against his friends and is unable to prevent it.
He orchestrates widespread theft and credit card fraud to try and save Akane, but ultimately she passes away, pushing him further into the criminal underworld. He meets Izana due to his reputation for making money and keeps rising within criminal organizations.
The Kanto Incident and Aftermath
During the Kanto Incident, Kokonoi faces off against Inui, torn by their past and Akane’s memory. Eventually, he switches sides after recalling Inui’s words and Akane’s wishes, giving the Tokyo Manji Gang an essential advantage. Although defeated, Kokonoi and Inui significantly weaken their enemies, paving the way for Taiju’s victory.
Present Day and Alternate Timelines
After the violent gang wars, Kokonoi becomes an executive within Bonten, the most powerful criminal syndicate in Tokyo. He now wears a tattoo in honor of Izana above his left ear. In an alternate universe where Akane survives, Kokonoi avoids criminal deeds and becomes the president of the TK&KO Group, partnering with Tetta Kisaki as vice president.
Known as "Koko" by friends and enemies alike.
Often depicted as part of the tragic, villainous cast, struggling between loyalty and personal ambition.
His complex morality and pragmatic worldview make him one of Tokyo Revengers’ most intriguing anti-heroes.
