Beam

Beam is the fiend form of the Shark Devil, combining a muscular human body with exaggerated shark traits.

He is fiercely loyal to Chainsaw Man (Denji) and shows unquestioning obedience to Makima despite his normally savage nature.

Beam plays a major supporting role in battles against the Typhoon Devil and Reze.

He later dies in the conflict with the Darkness Devil after giving his blood to revive Denji.

Beam normally appears as a muscular male with a humanoid body.

The upper half of his head is shaped like a shark’s head, complete with a dorsal fin, and his ears are sharper and more pointed than a human’s.

In combat, Beam’s entire head transforms into that of a shark, allowing him to bite and tear into his target.

For short periods, he can revert to the true form of the Shark Devil, revealing his original devil body.

As the Shark Devil, Beam has three pairs of large round eyes set in a wide head.

He also sports multiple dorsal fins arranged like a mane and two pairs of pectoral fins that have changed into insect-like legs, exaggerating the features of a real shark into a monstrous form.

Beam is extremely violent and bloodthirsty, to the point that normal conversation with him is nearly impossible.

He behaves impulsively in battle and revels in carnage, fitting his nature as a shark-based fiend.

Despite his ferocity, Beam is utterly submissive to Makima and never talks back to her.

He follows her orders faithfully, showing a kind of fearful respect that overrides his usual savage behavior.

Beam is also deeply devoted to Chainsaw Man.

He calls Denji “Lord Chainsaw” and genuinely admires him, treating Denji with reverence and enthusiasm.

Fiend and Devil Forms

As a fiend, Beam gains a blend of human and shark traits, making him a brutal close-combat fighter.

When he transforms his head fully into a shark’s head, his biting power becomes his primary weapon, allowing him to latch onto and tear enemies apart.

Beam can briefly assume his original Shark Devil form.

In this state, his mobility and ferocity are dramatically heightened, emphasizing speed and agility.

Swimming Through Any Surface

One of Beam’s most unique abilities is his power to “swim” through any substance.

He can move through the ground, walls, and other solid materials as if they were water.

During regular patrols, he often stays submerged beneath the ground, exposing only the dorsal fin on the top of his head above the surface.

This allows him to move while hidden and creates a striking shark-like image as the fin glides along the ground.

Combat Performance

Beam excels at high-speed movement and surprise attacks thanks to his swimming ability.

He can carry allies while moving this way, turning himself into a living transport and battering ram.

His original Shark Devil form further amplifies his mobility in battle.

In this shape, he can race across surfaces and maneuver around gigantic enemies with ease.

Makima

Beam is completely obedient to Makima.

Even though he is normally uncontrollable and vicious, he never defies her and treats her orders as absolute.

Denji (Chainsaw Man)

Beam is one of the few characters who knows about the past of the Chainsaw Devil.

Because of this, he reveres Denji as Chainsaw Man and affectionately calls him “Lord Chainsaw.”

He not only respects Denji’s power but also willingly risks his life to support him in combat.

This devotion culminates in Beam sacrificing his own safety, and ultimately his life, to revive Denji during the battle with the Darkness Devil.

Battle Against Reze and the Typhoon Devil

During the confrontation with Reze and the Typhoon Devil, Beam plays a major and highly visible role.

He uses his incredible mobility to carry Denji on his back, allowing Denji to race over the body surface of the Typhoon Devil itself.

Beam darts around the massive storm-like body of the Typhoon Devil, creating openings for Denji to attack.

Thanks to Beam’s support and movement, Denji is able to land decisive blows and greatly contribute to the Typhoon Devil’s defeat.

Battle Against the Darkness Devil

In the battle against the Darkness Devil in Hell, Beam shows both bravery and loyalty.

After Denji is gravely injured, Beam shares his own blood with him in order to revive him as Chainsaw Man.

This act of support comes at a fatal cost.

Once he has given his blood and helped Denji recover, Beam is killed by the overwhelming power of the Darkness Devil.

Status as a Follower of Chainsaw Man

Later, in chapter 83, Makima counts Beam among the followers or “subordinates” of Chainsaw Man.

This classification formally recognizes his role as one of Chainsaw Man’s loyal entourage, cementing his image as a devoted servant of Denji’s chainsaw-powered persona.
