Lilishka

Lilishka is in the same grade as Shintarō Tokumitsu and belongs to Class 2.

At school she belongs to the occult research club and introduces herself as a “vampire princess,” complete with eyepatch, bandages, and colored contact lenses.

Outside of school she works part-time at a maid café.

Both at her workplace and at school she openly claims to be a vampire, but everyone assumes it is just part of her elaborate chuunibyo role-playing.

Her vampire name “Lilishka” is a self-made stage name inspired by European vampires.

She derived it from part of her real given name Sayuri, taking “yuri” as “lily” and then stylizing it into “Lilishka.”

Despite the theatrics, Lilishka is not human but a real vampire whose bloodline is Japanese.

She admires “authentic” European vampires and consciously tries to act like them in her daily life.

Lilishka is the embodiment of chuunibyo: she speaks and acts like a dramatic dark noble, dresses theatrically, and treats everyday life as if it were a gothic fantasy scenario.

Her bandages, eyepatch, and colored contacts reinforce the impression that her vampire persona is just a flamboyant character setting.

Underneath the exaggerated persona, she has a surprisingly decent moral compass and social awareness.

She refrains from crossing lines without consent and is capable of reflecting on her own mistakes and apologizing sincerely.

She deeply adores Shintarō Tokumitsu, especially his scent, which she finds overwhelmingly attractive.

She often tries to “nibble” him or casually declare him her servant, but she never bites or feeds on him without his explicit permission.

When Shintarō tells her not to follow him too persistently or to stay away from his home, she feels guilty, reflects on her behavior, and is moved to tears.

She also keeps other people’s secrets, such as information about Hisui Tsurumi’s background, explaining that she did not have Hisui’s permission to reveal anything.

Lilishka is a true vampire and possesses genuine wings and fangs.

She is capable of flying, further confirming that her nature is not mere make-believe.

Like many vampires, she is sensitive to sunlight and does not like direct sun exposure.

To cope with this, she typically wears a hoodie with rabbit ears, although sunlight does not turn her into ash or otherwise destroy her.

She can drink blood in a classic vampire manner, but it is not strictly necessary for her survival.

Her life functions can be maintained with red-colored beverages as substitutes, including drinks whose color is only “almost” red, such as certain grape juices.

One of her standout abilities is an extremely sensitive sense of smell.

Once she has memorized a particular scent, she can track it unerringly over any distance.

This sensitivity becomes a weakness when she encounters a particularly appealing smell.

Her vampire instincts kick in, and she becomes almost obsessed with pursuing and savoring that scent.

She is especially enamored with Shintarō Tokumitsu’s scent, which she “loves” to an extraordinary degree.

However, she draws a clear line between enjoying a pleasing scent and someone simply smelling sweaty or unpleasant, insisting that “the smell of sweat” and “being sweaty-smelly” are completely different issues, even for Shintarō.

Shintarō Tokumitsu

Shintarō Tokumitsu is Lilishka’s classmate and the person whose scent she loves the most.

She often targets him playfully, trying to get close enough to sniff him, “nibble” him, or refer to him as her minion or servant.

Despite her teasing and predatory vampire act, she respects his boundaries.

She never feeds on him without consent and backs off when he clearly tells her to stop or not to come to his house.

Her feelings for Shintarō are a mix of romantic affection, predator-like fascination with his smell, and chuunibyo theatrics.

Even so, her reactions—especially when she feels she has gone too far—show genuine care and emotional vulnerability.

Hisui Tsurumi

Lilishka knows sensitive information about Hisui Tsurumi’s personal circumstances.

She chooses not to reveal any of it because she never received permission from Hisui to share those details.

Her handling of Hisui’s secret demonstrates that Lilishka is trustworthy and respectful of others’ privacy.

This contrasts with her over-the-top personality and shows a thoughtful, considerate side.

Lilishka’s real name is Sayuri Kagaue, an ordinary-sounding Japanese name that contrasts with her dramatic vampire alias.

In everyday school life she is recognized as a slightly eccentric but popular occult research club member with a strong taste for gothic style.

Her maid café job adds another layer of “role-play” to her life, as customers and classmates assume her vampire persona is part of her service performance.

Because of her eyepatch, bandages, and colored contacts, almost no one believes that her wings and fangs are actually real.

She herself considers her lifestyle “advanced” for a vampire, since she can manage without blood and blend more smoothly into human society.

Her admiration for European vampires influences her speech patterns, fashion, and self-image as a noble “vampire princess.”

Lilishka is voiced by Yui Ogura in the anime adaptation.

In addition to playing Lilishka, Yui Ogura also performs the anime’s opening theme song.
