Tsubaki Iwanome is the chief of the Third Compilation Division in the Public Safety Section at the Shinjuku Police Department. He harbors a strong admiration and trust for his missing former superior, Miyabi Hosorogi. Although his appearance resembles that of a host, making him look unlike a typical police officer, his inner character is hot-blooded and deeply passionate. His emotions sometimes drive him to act recklessly. Upon learning the truth about the Hifuki Mushi, he stopped using ordinary citizens as vessels and decided to shoulder the role himself. After being punched back to his senses by Gōzaburō Arase, his resolve moved the Hifuki Mushi, and afterward, no Hifuki Mushi appeared that used ordinary people as hosts anymore.
