Maru’s exact origins are unknown.

His birth details, including where and when he was born, have never been clarified.

He was brought to Kiruko by Manaka Mikura, who entrusted him with the mission of finding “Heaven.”

Since then, he has journeyed together with Kiruko through devastated cities and dangerous wastelands.

Maru’s face strongly resembles that of Tokio, a boy living in the facility often referred to as “Heaven.”

This uncanny resemblance is a central mystery that drives his story and search.

Although he looks like an ordinary teenager, Maru possesses inhuman physical abilities and an extraordinary healing factor.

He can recover from injuries far faster than a normal human, making him exceptionally durable in combat.

He is also able to plunge his hand into monsters and grasp some “fatal core,” instantly killing them.
