Character Setting

Edit

Akagi Towa is the fourth Pretty Cure of "Go! Princess Pretty Cure," also known as Cure Scarlet, embodying the fiery spirit of a princess who was once lost to darkness but ultimately finds her way to hope and friendship.

Towa is a pale-skinned 13-year-old girl with twist-styled, semi-long, scarlet-colored hair and deep crimson eyes.

Her ears are pointed like an elf’s, usually hidden beneath her hair except when her hair is styled up.

She’s often seen in a white headband and a dress with red and white as primary colors.

After her liberation from darkness, she receives a summery white and pink bi-colored dress, a red ribbon pendant, and red heels—nicknamed the "Princess Elegant Coordinate."

At night, she wears a delicate white and pale green negligee.

As Cure Scarlet, Towa’s costume incorporates an oriental flair, with a high-impact draped sash, asymmetrical design, elegant high heels, and motifs inspired by the phoenix and Eastern princesses.

Her transformed hair changes to a vivid pink, becoming a voluminous, multi-tailed ponytail.

Towa is the epitome of elegance, grace, and responsibility, upholding her royal status with refined speech and poise.

She typically speaks in an overly formal manner, calling herself "watakushi," and uses direct address with her peers, while calling her brother Prince Kanata "Onii-sama."

Towa is steadfast and hard-working, but she tends to internalize guilt and burdens, driving her to be stoic.

At first, she struggles with self-forgiveness due to her dark past, but gradually, thanks to her friends, she opens up and reclaims her cheerful spirit.

She values friendship deeply, is a quick learner, and has an endearing side—she’s bad at swimming, worries about how to laugh, and is new to daily chores outside royal life.

Towa was born as Princess Hope Delight Towa, the princess of Hope Kingdom and younger sister to Prince Kanata.

From a young age, she aspired to become the "Grand Princess," living by the motto "Strong, Kind, Beautiful" and practicing violin alongside her brother.

One day, Towa was lured into the Forest of Despair by Dyspear, stripped of her memories, dreams, and heart, and transformed into Twilight, the Black Princess of Dysdark.

Her disappearance cast Hope Kingdom into darkness, paving the way for Dyspear’s invasion.

In episode 21, through the courage of her friends, she regains her true self and escapes to the human world, haunted by guilt from her deeds as Twilight.

Despite emotional turmoil and being pursued by Dyspear, Towa is persuaded to believe in her dreams once more, awakening as Cure Scarlet.

She joins the girls at Noble Academy, hiding her identity at first and struggling to adapt to the human world and school life.

Towa eventually befriends and apologizes to Yume Mochizuki, a girl she once wronged, bonding with her classmates and forming deep-seated friendships.

As Cure Scarlet, Towa becomes the Princess Pretty Cure of Flames, guardian of the sun and hope.

She can wield fire in versatile ways: creating flaming winds, barriers, and spectacular attacks like Phoenix Blaze, Scarlet Spark, Scarlet Illusion, Scarlet Flame, and Scarlet Prominence.

Her signature item is the Scarlet Violin, used both for combat and transformation.

She can shift forms—her main transformation is "Mode Elegant," which upgrades her attire to a luxurious long dress, and later to "Dress Up Premium" and "Dress Up Royal" forms, reaching her final form as Grand Princess with golden regalia.

Cure Scarlet's fighting style combines elegant movement with powerful, sweeping counterattacks, using flames as both shield and spear.

Prince Kanata: Her beloved elder brother—he plays a pivotal role in restoring her memories and inspiring her hope.

Haruno Haruka, Kaido Minami, Kirara Amanogawa: Her fellow Princess Pretty Cure teammates and dearest friends, helping her heal and grow stronger.

Mochizuki Yume: A classmate she once harmed as Twilight, later befriended and supported.

Nanase Yui: Another close friend, supporting her in adapting to school and life.

Dyspear: The antagonist whose machinations led to Towa’s tragic fall and redemption.

Towa’s birthday is December 15.

She is particularly fond of playing the violin, a recurring symbol of her bond with her brother Kanata.

Her favorite food is anmitsu, a traditional Japanese dessert.

Her name, "Scarlet," references both nobility and the burden of sin, echoing her journey of atoning for her past while striving for her dreams.

Towa is distinguished by having pointed ears, a first for a Pretty Cure with otherworldly origins.

She’s the first Pretty Cure in eight years to have a color-based name, taking over from Cure Rouge.

Her costume’s design draws inspiration from Eastern princesses and "The Firebird" ballet.

“Even if unforgivable, I will embrace my sins and pursue my dream to become the Grand Princess.”

“If I truly wish for it in my heart, I know my dream will come true. So I won't give up!”

“I want to find warm, precious things here with everyone!”

Princess of Hope Kingdom

Towa was admired by her people for her diligence and gentle spirit, determined to become a beacon of hope.

Drawn by the promise of fulfilling her impossible dream—to become a Grand Princess—she fell into Dyspear’s trap in the Forest of Despair, where she lost everything that made her Towa.

The Fall and Twilight’s Rule

Stripped of memory and will, she transformed into Twilight, the Black Princess, serving Dysdark and spreading despair.

Her disappearance cast the Hope Kingdom into sorrow and allowed Dyspear to invade unopposed.

Rescue and Redemption

After a fierce battle with the Princess Pretty Cure, Kanata’s violin melody stirs her lost memories.

Haruno Haruka and friends use their powers to free her, but Towa, wracked by guilt, withdraws, fearing her unforgivable past.

Dyspear preys on her wavering heart, but Haruka’s words recall Kanata’s faith in her—a powerful moment that reignites Towa’s courage, turning her nightmare into resolve.

Her inner strength purifies the corrupted transformation item, and she awakens as Cure Scarlet, the Princess Pretty Cure of Flames, dispelling shadows with hope.

New Life and Friendship

Now living in the human world, Towa struggles to adapt to everyday life and joys, feeling out of place and awkward.

With encouragement from Haruka, Minami, Kirara, and others, she learns to make friends, laugh, and take care of herself.

She overcomes insecurities—about laughter, swimming, and her past—by confiding in her friends and relying on their support.

Becoming a classmate at Noble Academy under the adopted surname "Akagi," she finds a loving community and, slowly, family beyond blood.

Reunion and Final Trials

Towa longs for her brother, who was separated during Dyspear’s assault.

During her adventures, she is momentarily reunited with Kanata but finds he has lost his memories, plunging her into doubt and despair again.

With help from Haruka and her friends, she strives to restore his memories. After a difficult journey, the siblings reunite joyfully.

As she faces Dyspear’s final onslaught and the horror of her devastated homeland, Towa recalls her childhood promise to always smile for her people.

She leads the charge to open the doors of hope, restores Hope Kingdom, and embraces her responsibilities as a princess.

In adulthood, she continues to live peacefully, fulfilled, alongside Kanata and her friends.

For information about her alter ego during her time as an antagonist, see the profile for Twilight.

Her transformation and combat scenes are regarded for their elegance and power, echoing themes from previous generations of fire-themed Pretty Cure.

Towa’s story is a journey of atonement, healing, and the power of friendship—a princess forged not by birth, but by hope.
