Character Setting

Edit

Kohaku is a blonde, blue-eyed girl from Ishigami Village in the series Dr. Stone, known as the village’s strongest fighter and one of the earliest allies of Senkuu Ishigami.

Name: Kohaku

Gender: Female

Age: 16

Height: 160 cm

Weight: 52 kg

Birthday: August 8

Blood Type: B

She comes from Ishigami Village and is one of the first villagers that Senkuu Ishigami encounters after the world is petrified.

She speaks in an archaic, somewhat formal style, often taking a sharp breath or exclaiming before she starts talking.

Kohaku has blond hair and blue eyes, typically wears a blue dress-like outfit, and usually keeps her hair tied up.

When her hair is undone, it reveals that she actually has extremely unruly, wild hair, even more so than Senkuu’s.

Kohaku is fiercely strong-willed, blunt, and quick to resort to physical action, but she also has the sensitivity and innocence of a girl her age.

Senkuu calls her a “lioness,” while Chrome jokingly calls her a “female gorilla,” and she tends to punish them physically whenever they use these nicknames.

Despite her rough and wild exterior, she cares deeply for her family and friends.

Her behavior is in part a deliberate act: she tries to appear “unfit” to be a priestess so that her older sister Ruri will not lose her reason to keep on living.

In combat or emergencies, Kohaku is surprisingly cool-headed and pragmatic.

She can give calmly brutal advice, such as encouraging attacks to vulnerable spots in a fight, even while blushing at more embarrassing situations.

She places practicality over sentimental attachment to objects.

For example, she has no issue using the shield gifted by her father Kokuyo as raw material for gears if it serves a greater purpose.

Kohaku is the strongest fighter in Ishigami Village, boasting incredible physical prowess and agility.

She has astonishing eyesight measured at 11.0, and combines this with nimble movement to dominate in combat and scouting.

Tsukasa Shishiou, a natural-born warrior himself, recognizes her fighting skills as extraordinarily high for someone of high school age.

Even so, her power does not reach the level of top-tier fighters like Tsukasa or Hyoga, who remain in another league entirely.

Kohaku excels at close combat, quick reactions, and battlefield intuition.

She can track targets, tail enemies, and spring ambushes, as seen when she follows Tsukasa with the intent to kill him after witnessing his attack on Senkuu.

In tactical matters, she doesn’t shy away from harsh options if they protect her allies.

When dealing with Homura Momiji, she judges that capturing Homura alive without injuries is impossible but killing her is feasible, and asks Senkuu for explicit permission to kill if necessary so she will not hesitate at a critical moment.

Kohaku is the younger daughter of Kokuyo, the chief of Ishigami Village, and the younger sister of Ruri.

Her mother died, and her sister Ruri is chronically ill, which places emotional and social pressure on the family.

Kokuyo orders that one of his daughters must become the village priestess in order to preserve the tradition of the Hundred Tales.

Originally, this responsibility is placed on Ruri, but Ruri’s weak health means the family expects Kohaku to succeed her as priestess at some point.

Kohaku resents the idea of quietly accepting a plan that assumes Ruri can die without issue as long as the tradition continues.

She fears that if she becomes fully ready to take over as priestess, Ruri will lose her final thread of motivation to live.

To prevent this, Kohaku intentionally acts rough and “un-priestess-like” so that her father will see her as unsuitable for the sacred role.

Her coarse behavior, wild fighting style, and rebellious image all grow out of this determination to keep Ruri alive and hopeful as long as possible.

Her love for Ruri drives many of her actions, including going to collect hot spring water that could help ease Ruri’s symptoms.

This errand is what ultimately leads to her fateful encounter with Senkuu.

Kohaku first meets Senkuu when she is fetching hot spring water for Ruri and ends up trapped under a massive tree that Tsukasa Shishiou has felled.

Senkuu risks himself to save her from being crushed, leaving a deep impression on her.

After this rescue, Kohaku begins cooperating with Senkuu and gradually becomes one of his staunchest allies.

She openly admits that she has fallen in love with him, attributing those feelings to his selfless act of saving her life.

Kohaku witnesses the moment when Tsukasa takes Yuzuriha Ogawa hostage and Senkuu chooses to take the blow in her place.

This event burns Tsukasa’s cruelty into Kohaku’s memory and fuels her willingness to kill him without negotiation if she ever has a clear chance.

Her loyalty to Senkuu is unwavering, both emotionally and strategically.

She merges her physical strength with his scientific genius, often serving as his primary fighter, escort, and enforcer in dangerous situations.

Kohaku frequently clashes verbally with Senkuu and Chrome, who tease her with animal-like nicknames.

Chrome in particular calls her a “female gorilla,” prompting painful “punishments” from Kohaku, though the underlying relationship is one of camaraderie and mutual trust.

She deeply loves and protects her sister Ruri, whose illness shapes much of her life.

Kohaku’s hostility toward the priestess role and her rebellious persona are largely motivated by her desire to keep Ruri alive and emotionally strong.

Her father Kokuyo, as village chief, wants Kohaku to preserve the Hundred Tales after Ruri.

Kohaku, however, deliberately tries to earn his disapproval to avoid becoming the official successor to the priestess position.

With Kaseki, the elderly craftsman, she maintains a mix of respect and embarrassment.

When Kaseki becomes excited by crafting and his muscles swell so much that his clothes burst, she turns bright red and covers her face, revealing her shy side about overt displays of the body.

At the same time, when Chrome trains to counter Magma in the village tournament by practicing strikes aimed at the groin, Kohaku calmly advises him to “actively aim for the testicles.”

This contrast shows that while she can be bashful about nudity, she is completely pragmatic and detached when it comes to combat tactics.

She also crosses paths with Homura Momiji as an enemy scout and pursuer.

Kohaku evaluates Homura with the mindset of a hunter, prioritizing the survival of her allies over the enemy’s life.

Kohaku fights like a wild yet highly disciplined warrior.

She uses her excellent eyesight, agility, and reflexes to dodge, flank, and overwhelm her opponents.

She is willing to resort to lethal force, especially against enemies like Tsukasa or Homura Momiji, whom she views as direct threats to her friends.

Even so, she does not kill casually and feels the weight of taking a life, which is why she asks Senkuu’s permission before going as far as murder.

Kohaku has no prior experience actually killing someone, despite her readiness in battle.

Her request for “kill authorization” from Senkuu shows that she wants moral clarity in advance and does not want to be paralyzed by doubt in a critical moment.

Her practical mindset also extends to equipment.

She does not hesitate to sacrifice sentimental items, like her father’s gift of a shield, if they can be turned into more useful scientific tools such as gears.

Kohaku is one of the earliest bridges between Senkuu’s Kingdom of Science and the people of Ishigami Village.

She introduces Senkuu to the village, becomes a core member of his inner circle, and often acts as his sword and shield.

She participates in numerous key operations, including scouting, combat missions, and the defense of her allies against threats from Tsukasa’s Empire.

Her unique combination of raw physical ability and emotional honesty makes her both a warrior and a heart of the group.

During tournaments and village conflicts, she frequently serves as a strategist as well as a fighter.

Her advice to Chrome on fighting Magma, for instance, shows her ability to think tactically even when the tactics are ruthless.

By bravely defying her father’s expectations and standing up to powerful enemies like Tsukasa and Hyoga, Kohaku becomes a symbol of resistance and independence in the stone world.

She consistently pushes against any system that sacrifices individuals—especially her sister—for tradition or convenience.

After the major conflicts of Dr. Stone are resolved and civilization begins to rebuild, Kohaku joins a new police organization.

In this role, she devotes herself to maintaining public order in the revived world.

She works alongside Homura Momiji, a former enemy, showing how far the world and its people have come.

Together, they teach self-defense and practice martial skills as part of their efforts to protect the peace and safety of others.

Kohaku’s blend of strength, courage, and compassion makes her well-suited to her new life as a guardian of law and order.

Even in a more civilized era, she never loses the wild, lionhearted spirit that defined her from the start.
