Azuth Aindra is the leader of the adamantite-ranked adventurer team known as “Red Drop.”
He comes from the now-discarded noble line of House Aindra, but retains the honorary title of knight while living as a free adventurer.
He is the uncle of Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra and the person who inspired her to become an adventurer.
He affectionately calls her “Lakyu,” showing a more casual, familial side beneath his rough exterior.
Although he first appears directly in Volume 14, his existence had been hinted at earlier in the series.
Within the world’s adventurer community, he is known both for his red powered armor and his somewhat outrageous behavior.
To most citizens and people he meets for the first time, Azuth appears charming, polite, and easygoing.
Underneath that exterior, however, he is best described as “not a bad person, but a weirdo who would almost certainly be a terrible influence on children.”
His introduction scene underlines this: when Lakyus comes to meet him, he is lounging in a cheap-looking inn with two prostitutes at his side.
He openly gropes them even after Lakyus and her companions enter, explaining he was doing it partly to annoy members of the Black Scripture he had summoned there.
Evileye quickly becomes fed up with the scene and uses a charm spell on the prostitutes to send them into the next room.
When Evileye hits a nerve with a remark, Azuth childishly glares at her, showing that his emotional maturity is not always on par with his age.
Despite this, it is said that when Lakyus was a child, Azuth was far more “normal” and respectable.
He does have lines he will not cross, and he does genuinely care about his niece and about ordinary people caught up in wars.
Azuth also has a long, formal version of his name.
He dislikes being addressed by that full, pompous name when clients hire him, and he becomes visibly displeased if someone uses it in a business context.
Some adventurers familiar with Red Drop remark that Momon (Ainz’s adventurer persona) and Azuth give off a somewhat similar “big-hearted, larger-than-life” feeling.
This comparison is more about presence and aura than about morality or actual power.
Azuth is a man who looks to be in his forties or fifties, with a well-trained, lean and muscular body.
He presents the image of a veteran warrior whose physical prime may have passed but who is still in very solid shape.
His hair reaches down to his shoulders, with one lock braided.
A part of his front hair is dyed red in a streak-like “mesh” pattern, giving him a distinctive and flamboyant look.
He also wears a beard, which, like his hair, is braided.
Combined with his red-powered full plate and casual posture, he gives off a roguish, charismatic adventurer vibe rather than a pure knightly one.
Within the party Red Drop, Azuth is actually the weakest in terms of raw combat ability.
Among adamantite-ranked adventurers as a whole, he is also on the lower end in direct personal power.
His main natural advantage lies in his ability to command and coordinate others.
Even without his trump card, he has enough talent and experience to have climbed up to at least orichalcum rank on his own merits.
In terms of class levels, it is implied he has levels in Fighter, Sniper, Athletic Master (or similar physical and martial classes), though exact numbers are never given.
According to the author’s comments, Azuth’s own level is roughly comparable to one of the Empire’s Four Knights, which means he falls below a Death Knight in head-on combat.
However, Azuth’s true threat level skyrockets when he equips his powered armor “Power Suit,” an item originating from the game YGGDRASIL.
With this suit, he can overwhelm multiple Death Knights and Death Warriors at once, tearing through them in midair combat.
The author has indicated that, if Azuth relies fully on his Power Suit, he could probably defeat Evileye, albeit being overall weaker than her in raw individual potential.
Even with this caveat, this places him in a dangerous tier comparable to the Pleiades battle maids in terms of practical combat if he uses his equipment well.
Azuth’s trump card is a crimson full-body armor about three meters tall, a powered suit from YGGDRASIL.
It belongs to a family of items referred to as “Power Suits,” designed as late-game event rewards to help new players quickly reach a basic level of combat effectiveness.
These suits are more like vehicles or ride-on armor than simple equipment.
They offer flight, internal weapon systems, and powerful ranged attacks, enabling even low-level or crafter-type characters to fight effectively.
The structure of a Power Suit’s components can be somewhat customized, allowing users to swap parts for different builds.
However, despite their strength, they are still classified as armor: their wearer’s own HP remains the base, and the suit does not grant a full, true level-equivalent body.
Because of this, a very strong fighter can actually be weakened by using a Power Suit if the suit’s design does not match or exceed their personal skill.
In short, the suit is a power equalizer for weaker users, but can become a hindrance for high-level experts.
Top-tier Power Suits can reach combat power equivalent to level 80+ opponents.
One such suit was once obtained by the player Amanomahitotsu, who used it to challenge Peroroncino in aerial combat, but lost and then stopped using it afterward.
That high-tier suit is currently unaccounted for, but it is strongly implied it may now rest within Nazarick’s treasure vault.
Azuth’s Power Suit is not that top-class model, and its defensive capabilities are significantly lower.
Azuth’s version is armed with weaponry including a heavy machine gun-type magical firearm.
It is also equipped with magical shooting systems capable of firing spells up to at least the 7th tier, such as the attack spell “Chain Dragon Lightning.”
Despite this impressive offensive arsenal, its armor is fragile compared to truly top-tier gear.
Albedo, after clashing with Azuth, contemptuously describes the suit’s defenses as “like tofu,” emphasizing how easily she could break it if she tried.
Early Positioning and Relations
Azuth secretly approaches Tsaindorcus Vaision, the Platinum Dragon Lord, in the Argland Council State.
He seeks cooperation to stop the Sorcerer Kingdom and overthrow Ainz Ooal Gown, whose military actions threaten the Re-Estize Kingdom.
During the Sorcerer Kingdom’s invasion of the Re-Estize Kingdom, Azuth advises his niece Lakyus to flee the country.
His concern shows he values her life more than honor or pride, fully understanding how hopeless the situation is against Ainz.
Around this time, he refuses an offer to be recruited by members of the Black Scripture.
In the process, he somehow brushes up against information that the Black Scripture considers highly secret, making him a man who knows more than he probably should.
Defense of E-Naeul
Azuth participates in the defense of the city E-Naeul when it is attacked by forces of the Sorcerer Kingdom.
He uses his Power Suit to annihilate the Death Knights and Death Warriors approaching the city.
His efforts allow the civilians of E-Naeul to escape, successfully evacuating large numbers of residents.
This highlights his willingness to risk his life against overwhelming odds to save ordinary people.
Strategy with Tsaindorcus and Duel with Ainz
After E-Naeul, Azuth cooperates further with Tsaindorcus.
Their plan is to separate Ainz Ooal Gown and Albedo, giving Tsaindorcus a chance at a clean one-on-one duel against Ainz.
Azuth’s role is to act as the decoy: he appears in his crimson Power Suit, attacking to lure Albedo away from Ainz.
Tsaindorcus, cautious by nature, is worried that if the Power Suit falls into the Sorcerer Kingdom’s hands, it would become a huge asset for them.
Because of this, Tsaindorcus instructs Azuth that if the opponent is overwhelmingly superior, he must leave an impression of a “higher master” behind his actions rather than letting the suit be captured.
In other words, he must retreat if necessary, but do so in a way that misleads the enemy and protects the secret of the suit’s origin.
When Azuth actually clashes with Albedo, he realizes after a single exchange that he has absolutely no chance of winning.
A glancing hit from her is enough to inflict serious damage, and he instantly understands that if he continues, both he and the Power Suit will be destroyed.
He chooses to retreat immediately, preserving his life and the suit.
However, the result is that he fails to delay Albedo for long; she returns in time to interfere with the duel between Tsaindorcus and Ainz.
After Tsaindorcus’s one-on-one confrontation with Ainz, Azuth later meets and discusses the outcome with him.
The two of them then escape from the collapsing Re-Estize Kingdom, withdrawing to safety and reevaluating their opposition to the Sorcerer Kingdom.
Azuth personally trusts Tsaindorcus and believes he is fighting for the greater good.
From Azuth’s perspective, their cooperation is a partnership of like-minded individuals to oppose a tyrannical threat.
Tsaindorcus, however, views things more coldly and pragmatically.
To him, the most valuable asset in this partnership is not Azuth himself, but Azuth’s Power Suit.
He recognizes that Azuth’s personal abilities are not especially high relative to the threats they face.
Tsaindorcus even considers that Azuth may not be an appropriate holder for such a powerful and dangerous artifact.
As a result, Tsaindorcus has entertained the idea of killing Azuth in order to take the Power Suit.
He would then pass the suit on to a stronger yet more easily controlled warrior, turning it into a more effective weapon in his long-term plans.
At present, Tsaindorcus has not acted on these thoughts and is still carefully weighing whether to discard Azuth and Red Drop.
This creates an uneasy, one-sided tension in their alliance, with Azuth unaware that his “ally” is also contemplating turning him into a resource to be harvested.
